Praise the Lord!
Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ…who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us……Titus 2:13-14

:poly:

We Have This Hope

We have this hope that burns within our hearts,
Hope in the coming of the Lord.
We have this faith that Christ alone imparts,
Faith in the promise of His Word.
We believe the time is here,
When the nations far and near
Shall awake, and shout and sing
Hallelujah! Christ is King!
We have this hope that burns within our hearts,
Hope in the coming of the Lord.

We are united in Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are united in His love.
Love for the waiting people of the world,
People who need our Savior’s love.
Soon the heavens will open wide,
Christ will come to claim His bride,
All the universe will sing
Hallelujah! Christ is King!
We have this hope, this faith, and God’s great love,
We are united in Christ.

Watchman, what of the night?
Isaiah 21:11

Sentinel Upon the Heights

On the heights why standest thou, sentinel, with sleepless brow?
In the service of our Lord, I am keeping watch and word;
Sleeping never, guarding ever all the posts of danger near;
Lest our city should be captured, lest the enemy appear.

On the heights what seest thou, sentinel, with sleepless brow?
Sin and crime with heedless bound, send their forces all around;
Never sleeping, ever keeping, faithful guard tho’ foes appall,
Christ Himself our arms will strengthen, mighty to encompass all.

On the heights what hearest thou, sentinel, with sleepless brow?
Still the foe in phalanx broad, arms himself against the Lord;
Armor glancing, swift advancing, when we thought salvation near;
Waken soldiers! march to battle, Christ the Lord is Captain here.

Tho’ the night be long and weary,
Cheer thee, soldier, yonder distant ray
Shall dispel these war clouds dreary;
Thou shalt soon behold the day!

That's My King
The Bible says
He’s the King of the Jews
He’s the King of Israel
He’s the King of Righteousness
He’s the King of the Ages
He’s the King of Heaven
He’s the King of Glory
He’s the King of Kings
and He is the Lord of Lords
Now that’s my King!

David says
The Heavens declare the glory of God
And the firmament showeth His handiwork
No means of measure can define His limitless love
No far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supply
No barriers can hinder Him from pouring out His blessing
He’s enduringly strong
He’s entirely sincere
He’s eternally steadfast
He’s immortally graceful
He’s imperially powerful
He’s impartially merciful
That’s my King!

He’s God’s Son
He’s the sinners’ Saviour
He’s the centrepiece of civilisation
He stands alone in Himself
He’s august
He’s unique
He’s unparalleled
He’s unprecedented
He’s supreme
He’s pre-eminent
He’s the loftiest idea in literature
He’s the highest personality in philosophy
He’s the supreme problem in higher criticism
He’s the fundamental doctrine in true theology
He’s the cardinal necessity of spiritual religion
That’s my King!

He’s the miracle of the age
He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him
He’s the only one able to supply all of our needs simultaneously
He supplies strength for the weak
He’s available for the tempted and the tried
He sympathises and He saves
He guards and He guides
He heals the sick
He cleansed the lepers
He forgives sinners
He discharges debtors
He delivers the captives
He defends the feeble
He blesses the young
He serves the unfortunate
He regards the aged
He rewards the diligent
And He beautifies the meek
Do you know Him?

My King is the key of knowledge
He’s the wellspring of wisdom
He’s the doorway of deliverance
He’s the pathway of peace
He’s the roadway of righteousness
He’s the highway of holiness
He’s the gateway of glory
He’s the master of the mighty
He’s the captain of the conquerors
He’s the head of the heroes
He’s the leader of the legislators
He’s the overseer of the overcomers
He’s the governor of governors
He’s the prince of princes
He’s the King of Kings
And He’s the Lord of Lords
That’s my King
That’s my King!

My King
His office is manifold
His promise is sure
His life is matchless
His goodness is limitless
His mercy is everlasting
His love never changes
His word is enough
His grace is sufficient
His reign is righteous
His yoke is easy
and His burden is light

I wish I could describe Him to you
He’s indescribable
He’s indescribable
He’s incomprehensible
He’s invincible
He’s irresistible

I’m trying to tell you
The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him
Let alone a man explain Him
You can’t get Him out of your mind
You can’t get Him off of your hands
You can’t outlive Him
And you can’t live without Him

The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him
but they found out they couldn’t stop Him
Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him
The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree
And Herod couldn’t kill Him
Death couldn’t handle Him
And the grave couldn’t hold Him
That’s my King!

He always has been
And He always will be
I’m talking about
He had no predecessor
and He’ll have no successor
There was nobody before Him
and there’ll be nobody after Him
You can’t impeach Him
and He’s not going to resign
That’s my King!
Praise the Lord
That’s my King
Thine is the Kingdom
And the power
And the glory
The glory is all His
Thine is the Kingdom
And the power
And the glory
For ever
And ever
And ever
And when you get through with all of the forevers
Then
Amen

In a Small Place

Fret not because thy place is small,
Thy service need not be,
For thou canst make it all there is
Of joy and ministry.

The dewdrop, as the boundless sea,
In God's great place has part;
And this is all He asks of thee;
Be faithful where thou art.

In thee His mighty hand can show
The wonders of His grace,
And He can make the humblest room
A high and holy place.

Thy life can know the blessedness
Of resting in His will;
His fulness flows unceasingly
Thy cup of need to fill.

His strength upon they weakness waits,
His power for thy task.
What more, O child of all His care,
Could any great one ask?

Praise the Lord!
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8

Find Us Faithful

We’re pilgrims on the journey of the narrow road,
And those who've gone before us line the way,
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary,
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace.

Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize,
But as those who've gone before us, let us leave to those behind us,
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives.

After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift though all we've left behind,
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find.

Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion light their way,
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe,
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.

Praise the Lord!
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

The Grace of God

My
“My grace,” ’tis the God of all grace who hath spoken,
Whose word in the heavens forever is set;
Whose covenant promise hath never been broken;
Who never can fail or forget;
Who knoweth my needs and who seeth my sorrows,
However so many and great they may be;
Who heareth my prayers for the days and the morrows;
His grace is sufficient for me.

Grace
“My grace,” all His blessings this work is unfolding,
His love and His power in harmony blend;
’Tis grace that hath saved me, and grace that is holding,
And grace that will keep to the end;
’Tis grace that hath written redemption's glad story,
And grace all the song of the ransomed shall be;
’Tis grace that transforms me from glory to glory;
That grace is sufficient for me.

Is
“My grace is” not “was” and not “will be” ’tis flowing
Each hour and each moment my need to supply,
The deeper I dip, still the deeper ’tis growing,
No drought can diminish or dry;
My heart from the future no trouble shall borrow;
Eternal this present provision shall be,
Assured for today and as sure for tomorrow,
Such grace is sufficient for me.

Sufficient
“My grace is sufficient,” Oh, help without measure!
An ocean of riches no plummet can sound,
A storehouse unfailing of infinite treasure,
A gift without limit or bound;
Exceeding abundant for all His creation,
Enough for the thorn that is buffeting me,
The fullness of God for earth’s brief tribulation -
“My grace is sufficient for thee.”

For Thee.
"Sufficient for thee,” for my utmost salvation,
As though ne'er another had owed Him a debt;
For my special grief and my special temptation,
My cares and my sins that beset;
He giveth more grace for my humble endeavour;
I am praising Him now, I shall praise Him forever;
His grace is sufficient for me.

He’s Helping Me Now

He’s helping me now this moment,
Though I may not see it or hear,
Perhaps by a friend far distant,
Perhaps by a stranger near,
Perhaps by a spoken message
Perhaps by the printed word;
In ways that I know and know not
I have the help of the Lord.

He’s keeping me now this moment,
However I need it most,
Perhaps by a single angel,
Perhaps by a mighty host,
Perhaps by the chain that frets me,
Or the walls that shut me in;
In ways that I know or know not
He keeps me from harm and sin.

He’s guiding me now this moment,
In pathways easy or hard,
Perhaps by a door wide open,
Perhaps by a door fast barred,
Perhaps by a joy withholden
Perhaps by a gladness given;
In ways that I know and know not,
He's leading me up to heaven.

He’s using me now this moment,
And whether I go or stand,
Perhaps by a plan accomplished
Perhaps when he stays my hand,
Perhaps by a word in season
Perhaps by a silent prayer;
In ways that I know and know not,
His labor of love I share.

Sunday Morning Praise

Sweet is the Memory of Thy Grace

Sweet is the memory of Thy grace,
My God, my heav’nly king;
Let age to age Thy righteousness
In sounds of glory sing.

God reigns on high, but not confines
His goodness to the skies;
Through the whole earth His bounty shines,
And every want supplies.

With longing eyes Thy creatures wait
On Thee for daily food;
Thy liberal hand provides their meat,
And fills their mouths with good.

How kind are Thy compassions, Lord!
How slow Thine anger moves!
But soon He sends His pardoning word
To cheer the souls He loves.

Creatures with all their endless race
Thy power and praise proclaim;
But saints that taste Thy richer grace
Delight to bless Thy name.

Praise the Lord!

The glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6

:poly:

The Savior’s Face

How sweet, O Lord, Thy word of grace
Which bids a sinner seek Thy face,
And never seek in vain;
That face, once set so steadfastly
To meet Thy cross of agony,
Can never me disdain.

Thy visage, marred and crowned with thorn,
Thou didst not hide from grief and scorn,
Nor from the dew of night;
Yet, in that face a love appears
Which scatters all my gloomy fears,
And fills my soul with light.

The heavens declare Thy power and love;
In all Thy works, below, above,
Thy majesty I trace,
But mercy shines not in the skies,
And hope within my spirit dies,
Until I see Thy face.

The brightness of Thy glory, Lord,
Fills Heaven and earth and written Word
With beams of heavenly grace;
But all the hosts of Heaven shine
With no such radiance divine
As Thy most blessed face.

2 Timothy 1:12

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
Hebrews 10:35

:poly:

“I Know”

“I Know” against this fortress wall the gates of hell shall not prevail;
I know in Whom I have believed and that His word shall never fail;
I know that He is strong to keep, and all that I commit to Him
Is safe, though I may wake or sleep.

“I Know” this Spirit-sword of truth can pierce the cunning foe's device;
I know to ransom me from death my Saviour paid the utmost price;
I know my sins are all forgiven since on the cross my sin He bore,
And if His suffereings I share I'll share His glory evermore.

“I Know” against this shield of faith the darts of Hate are powerless;
I know not anything that is: not tribulation nor distress,
Not all the heights nor all the depths of demon power, strong and great,
Not present things, nor things to come, Christ's love from me can separate.

“I Know” this one triumphant phrase can silence doubts and banish fears;
I know that all thins work for good and I have proved it through the years;
I know my Shepherd's guiding hand, His faithfulness, His tender care,
That all my need He doth supply and all my burdens He doth bear.

“I Know” upon this lighthouse tower the winds and waves shall beat in vain;
I know that my Redeemer lives and in His death all Death was slain;
I know my life is hid with Him beyond the reach of change or harm,
And life and death to me are one within the shelter of His arm.

“I Know” my firm foundation this, the Rock amid the shifting sand,
I know that Jesus is the Christ, and built there my house shall stand;
I know, though all my hand hath wrought by fire and flood be swept away,
This cornerstone of faith shall rest unshaken in the last great day.

“I Know” this anchor-hope will hold till storms and clouds forever cease;
I know that He will come again to bring the Thousand Years of Peace;
I know that when He shall appear and earth and time for me are past,
When in His likeness I awake I shall be satisfied at last.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

O Love of God, How Strong and True

O love of God, how strong and true!
Eternal, and yet ever new;
Uncomprehended and unbought,
Beyond all knowledge and all thought.

O love of God, how deep and great!
Far deeper than man’s deepest hate;
Self fed, self kindled, like the light,
Changeless, eternal, infinite.

O heavenly love, how precious still,
In days of weariness and ill,
In nights of pain and helplessness,
To heal, to comfort, and to bless!

O wide embracing, wondrous love!
We read Thee in the sky above,
We read Thee in the earth below,
In seas that swell, and streams that flow.

We read Thee best in Him who came
To bear for us the cross of shame;
Sent by the Father from on high,
Our life to live, our death to die.

We read Thy power to bless and save,
E’en in the darkness of the grave;
Still more in resurrection light,
We read the fullness of thy might.

O love of God, our shield and stay
Through all the perils of our way!
Eternal love, in Thee we rest
Forever safe, forever blest.

Every Morning Mercies New

Every morning mercies new
Fall as fresh as morning dew;
Every morning let us pay
Tribute with the early day:
For Thy mercies, Lord, are sure;
Thy compassion doth endure.

Still the greatness of Thy love
Daily doth our sins remove;
Daily, far as east from west,
Lifts the burden from the breast;
Gives unbought to those who pray
Strength to stand in evil day.

Let our prayers each morn prevail,
That these gifts may never fail;
And, as we confess the sin
And the tempter’s power within,
Every morning, for the strife,
Feed us with the Bread of Life.

As the morning light returns,
As the sun with splendor burns,
Teach us still to turn to Thee,
Ever blessed Father of mercy,
With our hands our hearts to raise,
In unfailing prayer and praise.

No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6

The Way, The Truth, The Life

Amid the crying and the weeping,
A single thought comes surely creeping
That only things eternal truely last;
And so man turns to shrines and “-isms”,
Binding himself in Satan’s prisons,
Hoping for some peace when life is past.

But still their lives are filled with sorrow,
With nothing better than “tomorrow”
To ease the sin-sick burden of “today.”
They gladly take the devil's token,
Yet they find the promise broken
Long before the price is fully paid.

But there stands one Way eternal,
To rescue man from paths infernal,
Brining him to God and heaven and light.
There is one Truth that answers clearly,
All the questions worn and weary,
With an answer that is always right.

There is one Life, so freely given
That the veil was fully riven
’Tween the soul of man and God’s own face.
There is one Christ, one Lord, one Saviour,
Standing as the Mediator,
Between a holy God and Adam’s race.

Jesus Christ as God incarnate,
Dressed in man's own humble garment,
Paid sin’s debt, its bond-slaves to relieve;
From the eternal fear of dying,
From death’s misery and sighing;
This God's gift to all who will receive.

Go to the Deeps of God’s Promise

Go to the deeps of God’s promise;
Ask freely of Him, and receive;
All good may be had for the asking,
If, seeking, you truly believe.

Go to the deeps of God’s promise;
And know of His wonderful might;
Whatever would be a true blessing,
For Jesus’ sake, comes as thy right.

Go to the deeps of God’s promise;
The blessing is never denied;
He loves, and remembers His children,
And every good thing is supplied.

Go to the deeps of God’s promise;
And claim whatsoever ye will;
The blessing of God will not fail thee,
His Word He will surely fulfill.

Go to the deeps of God’s promise;
There’s wideness of meaning untold
In the promises given His people,
And the treasures they ever unfold.

I know not, but God knows;
Oh, blessed rest from fear!
All my unfolding days
To Him are plain and clear.
Each anxious, puzzled "Why?"
From doubt or dread that grows,
Finds answer in this thought;
I know not, but He knows.

I cannot, but God can;
Oh, balm for all my care!
The burden that I drop
His hand will lift and bear,
Though eagle pinions tire
I walk where once I ran
This is my strength, to know
I cannot, but God can.

I see not, but God sees;
Oh, all-sufficient light!
My dark and hidden way
To Him is always bright.
My strained and peering eyes
May close in restful ease,
And I in peace may sleep;
I see not, but He sees.

God’s Orchestra

The great Composer writes the theme
And gives us each a part to play;
To some a sweet and flowing air,
Smooth and unbroken all the way.

They pour their full heart’s gladness out
In notes of joy and service blent;
But some He gives long bars of “rests,”
With idle voice and instrument.

He who directs the singing spheres,
The music of the morning stars,
Needs, for His full creation’s hymn,
The quiet of the soundless bars.

Be silent unto God, my soul,
If this the score He writes for thee,
And “hold the rest,” play no false note
To mar His perfect harmony.

Yet be thou watchful for thy turn,
Strike on the instant, true and clear,
Lest from the grand, melodious whole
Thy note be missing to His ear.

Saved by Grace
(My Soul’s Hymn)

Some day the silver cord will break,
And I no more as now shall sing;
But oh, the joy when I shall wake
Within the palace of the King!

Some day my earthly house will fall.
I cannot tell how soon ’twill be;
But this I know—my All in All
Has now a place in Heav’n for me.

Some day, when fades the golden sun
Beneath the rosy tinted west,
My blessed Lord will say, Well done!
And I shall enter into rest.

Some day, till then I’ll watch and wait,
My lamp all trimmed and burning bright,
That when my Savior opens the gate,
My soul to Him may take its flight.

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story Saved by grace.

Praise the Lord! Amen! and Amen!
Blessings, peace, grace and mercy to all here at TOL!
