The Love of Christ

How broad is Christ's love? Oh, as broad as man's trespass,
As wide as the need of the world can be;
And yet to the need of one soul it can narrow —
He came to the world and He came to me.

How long is Christ's love? Without end or beginning,
Eternal as God and His life it must be,
For, to everlasting as from everlasting —
He loveth the world and He loveth me.

How deep is Christ's love? Oh, as deep as man's sinning.
As low as the uttermost vileness can be;
In the fathomless gulf of the Father's forsaking —
He died for the world and He died for me.

How high is Christ's love? It is high as the heavens,
As high as the throne of His glory must be;
And yet from that height He hath stooped to redeem us —
He so loved the world and He so loved me.

How great is Christ's love? Oh, it passeth all knowledge,
No man's comprehension its measure can be;
It filleth the world, yet each heart may contain it —
He so loves the world and He so loves me.

“Rich in mercy,” hear the message full of blessings from above;

“Rich in mercy,” loud proclaim it! May the heralds never cease

There are riches, and there’s mercy, in the presence of the King.

I am happy in the presence of the King, I am happy, O so happy!

Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,

But there is one in heav'n who knows our deepest care,
Let Jesus solve your problem — just go to Him in pray'r.

Life’s day will soon be o’er, all storms forever past,
We'll cross the great divide, to glory, safe at last;
We'll share the joys of heav’n — a harp, a home, a crown,
The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.

It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.

Face to face With Christ, My Savior

My Task

To love someone more dearly ev'ry day,
To help a wand'ring child to find his way,
To ponder o'er a noble tho't and pray;
To follow truth as blind me long for light,

To keep my heart fit for His holy sight;
And then my Savior by and by to meet,
When faith hath made her task on earth complete,
And lay my homage at the Master's feet,
Within the jasper walls — This crowns my task.

Take Up Thy Cross

I walked one day along a country road,
And there a cross appeared, it was a cross, a cross I knew.

How can I make a lesser sacrifice, when Jesus gave His all?

Isaiah 26:3

Peace, Perfect Peace

Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin?
The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

Waiting

Only waiting till the shadows are a little longer grown;

Till the stars of heav’n are breaking thro’ the twilight soft and gray.

Only waiting till the reapers have the last sheaf gathered home;
For the summertime has faded and the autumn winds have come.
Quickly, reapers! gather quickly, all the ripe hours of my heart;
For the bloom of life has withered, and I hasten to depart.

Only waiting till the angels open wide the pearly gate,
At whose portals long I’ve lingered weary, poor and desolate:

Waiting for a brighter dwelling than I ever yet have seen,

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness.

Light Looked Down

Light looked down and beheld Darkness.
“There will I go,” said Light.
Peace looked down and beheld War.
“There will I go,” said Peace.
Love looked down and saw Hatred.
“There will I go,” said Love.
Light came and did shine.
Peace came and gave rest.
Love came and brought Life.

Across the Templed Hills

Now sweeps a song of solemn joy across the templed hills;
From seraph harps sweet music floats, that earth and Heaven thrills.
The tuneful notes still ring afar, like bells that gaily chime,
Thro’ moonlit skies, from star to star, to hail the Christmas-time.
We hear again the blissful the message breathed once more;
All glory be to God! we cry, whose name our souls adore.
Hark the song, glad song, overflowing all the earth!
Hark the anthem sweet, bringing news of Jesus’ birth!
