Praise the Lord!

Show me Your ways, O LORD;
Teach me Your paths.

Psalm 25:4

:poly:

Lord, To Me Thy Ways Make Known

Lord, to me Thy ways make known,
Guide in truth and teach Thou me;
Thou my Savior art alone,
All the day I wait for Thee.

Lord, remember in Thy love
All Thy mercies manifold,
Tender mercies from above,
Changeless from the days of old.

Sins of youth remember not,
Nor my trespasses record;
Let not mercy be forgot,
For Thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Just and good the Lord abides,
He His way will sinners show,
He the meek with justice guides,
Making them His way to know.

Grace and truth shall mark the way
Where the Lord His own will lead.
If His Word they still obey
And His testimonies heed.

He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul.
Psalm 23:1-3

He Leadeth Me

He leadeth me, O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

Mercy Drops

It is hard to carry a full cup of water with a steady hand, some spilling will occur…

When the gardener carries a full bucket of water in hand while walking the path to a place in need of much water, the flowers along the pathway will benefit from the spilling drops of water that splash on them, and after getting those unexpected refreshing drops of water, their drooping buds lift their heads, and blossoms show forth that radiant beauty that is in them, all because of a few drops of water.

The chorus of the old hymn, “There Shall be Showers of Blessing,” states in part, “Mercy drops round us are falling.” Do we ever think about those “Mercy drops” in the light of little blessings? Blessings like spilling drops of water, little drops of mercy along the way as we go to tend to a specific task; yes, I believe there times when we are those mercy drops, small blessings of mercy drops that we can give to others. Nothing major, a momentary blessing of mercy or kindness, that relieves and revives the weary soul, uplifts a sagging spirit and opens a heart of “can do.”

We can do that because of the fruit of the spirit that is in us is watered and renewed everyday by the Holy Spirit. The daily filled cup we carry is meant to be overflowing and touch the hearts and lives of others, and sometimes if but for a moment like “Mercy drops,” because of our willingness to be a blessing and regardless of how small. Dare we ask, “Fill my cup Lord?” Can we hear the chorus of an old hymn that states, “He will fill your heart today with overflowing.”

Then how are we when we do not feel blessed to the full and not overflowing? I believe there will be another who will come along and like the gardener who carries water filled buckets to overflowing, spill golden drops of blessing, mercy and kindness on us; then we are revived, what a precious reviving it is. Remember He forgets not His own, He calls us by name and anoints us to bless, to be merciful, and radiate the loveliness and truth of the altogether lovely — Jesus. Yes, we can be mercy drops of cheer, encouragement, help, comfort, hope and love.

You know, I think I hear the foot steps of our Great and Glorious Gardener.

Praise the Lord!
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:12-13

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4

That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:7

:poly:

Adversity Can Bless Us

The way we use adversity is strictly our own choice,
For in God's hands adversity can make the heart rejoice.
For everything God sends to us,no matter in what form,
Is sent with plan and purpose, for by the fierceness of a storm
The atmosphere is changed and cleared and the earth is washed and clean,
And the high winds of adversity can make restless souls serene.

And while it's very difficult for mankind to understand
God's intentions and His purpose and the workings of His hand,
If we observe the miracles that happen every day,
We cannot help but be convinced that in His wondrous way
God makes what seemed unbearable and painful and distressing
Easily acceptable when we view it as a blessing.

:poly:

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 2:3

It matters not how the battle goes,
The day how long;
Faint not! Fight on!
Tomorrow comes the song.

Praise the Lord!

My cup runs over.
Psalm 23:5

:poly:

My Cup Runs Over

O Thou, whose bounty fills my cup
With every blessing meet!
I give Thee thanks for every drop —
The bitter and the sweet.

I praise Thee for the desert road,
And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
And all Thy grace denied.

I thank Thee for both smile and frown,
And for the gain and loss;
I praise Thee for the future crown,
And for the present cross.

I thank Thee for the wing of love,
Which stirred my worldly nest;
And for the stormy clouds which drove
The flutterer to Thy breast.

I bless Thee for the glad increase,
And for the waning joy;
And for this strange, this settled peace,
Which nothing can destroy.

:poly:

The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”

Jeremiah 31:3

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

Praise the Lord!
As He went out of Jericho with His disciples…blind Bartimaeus, sat by the road begging…when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”…So Jesus…commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man…And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus…Jesus said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”…Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. Mark 10:46-52

:poly:

I Asked the Lord

I asked the Lord to comfort me
When things weren’t going my way.
He said to me “I will comfort you
And lift your cares away.”
I asked the Lord to walk with me
When darkness was all that I knew.
He said to me “Never be afraid,
For I will see you through.”

I did not ask for riches.
He gave me wealth untold;
The moon, the stars, the sun, the sky,
And He gave me eyes to behold
I thank the Lord for everything
And I count my blessing each day.
He came to me when I need Him,
I only had to pray.

He’ll come to you if you’ll ask Him to.
He's only a prayer away.

:poly:

He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9

He Giveth More Grace

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
His love has no limit; His grace has no measure.
His pow’r has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!

Sunday Morning Praise!

We Lift Our Hearts in Thanks Today

We lift our hearts in thanks today
For all the gifts of life;
And first, for peace that turns away
The enemies of strife;

And next, the beauty of the earth,
Its flowers and lovely things,
The spring’s great miracle of birth,
With sound of songs and wings;

Then, harvests of its teeming soil
In orchard, croft and field;
But more, the service and the toil
Of those who helped them yield;

And most, the gifts of hope and love,
Of wisdom, truth and right,
The gifts that shine like stars above
To chart the world by night.

As we receive, so let us give,
With ready, generous hand,
Rich fruitage from the lives we live
To bless our home and land.

:poly:

Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name.
1 Chronicles 29:13

We Thank Thee, Our Father

For the fruits of the earth, and the sky and the sea,
For the bountiful harvests so wondrously free,
For the gold of the autumn, the sear and the brown,
For the bloom of the flower when winter is flown,
For the work and the play, for the night and the day,
We thank Thee, our Father, yea, praise and extol;
We thank Thee, our Father, Great God of us all.

Praise the Lord!

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”
Then said I, “Here am I; send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

:poly:

Speak, My Lord

Hear the Lord of harvest sweetly calling,
“Who will go and work for Me today?
Who will bring to Me the lost and dying?
Who will point them to the narrow way?”

When the coal of fire touched the prophet,
Making him as pure, as pure can be,
When the voice of God said, “Who’ll go for us?”
Then he answered, “Here I am, send me.”

Millions now in sin and shame are dying,
Listen to their sad and bitter cry;
Hasten, brother, hasten to the rescue;
Quickly answer, “Master, here am I.”

Soon the time for reaping will be over;
Soon we’ll gather for the harvest home;
May the Lord of harvest smile upon us,
May we hear His blessed, “Child, well done.”

Speak, my Lord, speak, my Lord,
Speak, and I’ll be quick to answer Thee;
Speak, my Lord, speak, my Lord,
Speak, and I will answer, “Lord, send me.”

:poly:

You shall be witnesses unto Me.
Acts 1:8

I’ll Be a Voice

I’ll be a voice for the Master, speaking for Jesus today;
A voice to the wand’rer, though far away he may roam;
A voice for the Master, unto the sad and oppressed;
A voice! I’ll be a voice! Teaching the truth and the way;
A voice! I’ll be a voice! Speaking for Jesus today.

Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”
And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

1 Samuel 3:10

:poly:

Master, Speak! Thy Servant Heareth

Master, speak! Thy servant heareth,
Waiting for Thy gracious word,
Longing for Thy voice that cheereth;
Master! let it now be heard.
I am listening, Lord, for Thee:
What hast Thou to say to me?

Speak to me by name, O Master,
Let me know it is to me;
Speak, that I may follow faster,
With a step more firm and free,
Where the Shepherd leads the flock,
In the shadow of the rock.

Master, speak! Though least and lowest,
Let me not unheard depart;
Master, speak! For O, Thou knowest
All the yearning of my heart,
Knowest all its truest need:
Speak! and make me blest indeed.

Master, speak! and make me ready,
When Thy voice is truly heard,
With obedience glad and steady
Still to follow every word.
I am listening, Lord, for Thee:
Master, speak! O, speak to me!

:poly:

Here am I! Send me.
Isaiah 6:8

Here am I, Send Me!

Hast Thou, O Lord, a work to do?

Over mountain, plain or sea,
I’ll go to the ends of the earth for Thee,
Here am I, send me!

Let Us Send The Gospel Message

Let us send the Gospel message
Far across the ocean wave,
To the millions who have never
Heard of Jesus’ power to save;
To the people who are living
In a land of darkest gloom
Where they have no thought of Heaven,
And no hope beyond the tomb.

In our minds now, let us picture
Such a people, such a land,
And ourselves among the number,
With no sign of helping hand.
O the pain, the bitter sorrow
Of a life in such a place,
Ne’er to feel the peace and comfort
Of the Savior’s pardoning grace!

Brethren, sisters, ’tis our duty,
And our privilege as well,
To this lost and dying people
Of a Savior’s love to tell.
Jesus said, “Go teach all nations”;
Dare we slight His last command?
No, we’ll send the Gospel message
Into every heathen land.

Let us send the message, blessed Gospel message,
That the nations may all hear of Jesus’ name;
Let us send the message, blessed Gospel message,
That the heathen may be saved from sin and shame.

I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20

Constantly Abiding

There’s a peace in my heart that the world never gave,
A peace it cannot take away;
Though the trials of life may surround like a cloud,
I’ve a peace that has come here to stay!
Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine;
Constantly abiding, rapture divine;
He never leaves me lonely, whispers, O so kind:
“I will never leave thee,” Jesus is mine.

The Mercy of God is an Ocean Divine

The mercy of God is an ocean divine,
A boundless and fathomless flood.
Launch out in the deep, cut away the shore line,
And be lost in the fullness of God.

But many, alas! only stand on the shore,
And gaze on the ocean so wide.
They never have ventured its depths to explore,
Or to launch on the fathomless tide.

And others just venture away from the land,
And linger so near to the shore
That the surf and the slime that beat over the strand
Dash o’er them in floods evermore.

Oh, let us launch out on this ocean so broad,
Where floods of salvation o’erflow.
Oh, let us be lost in the mercy of God,
Till the depths of His fullness we know.

1 John 4:10

Love Divine, So Great and Wondrous
(He the Pearly Gates Will Open)

Love divine, so great and wondrous, deep and mighty, pure, sublime!
Coming from the heart of Jesus, just the same through tests of time.
In life’s eventide, at twilight, at His door I’ll knock and wait;
By the precious love of Jesus I shall enter Heaven’s gate.
He the pearly gates will open, so that I may enter in;
For He purchased my redemption and forgave me all my sin.

The River of Life

O wonderful river! O life giving river!
That flows thro’ the streets of the city above;
The trees on thy margin, that blossom and quiver,
Bring forth for the nations a fruitage of love.

O throne of the Lamb, with its glory unspoken!
O trees He hath planted for healing and rest!
Shine on in our vision, and give us a token
To comfort the heart that is sore and oppressed.

We pine in the bondage that sin has thrown o’er us,
We long for the joy and the freedom of home
To join in the swell of the glorified chorus,
To drink of the river that flows from the throne.

Wonderful river! Wonderful river!
Gladdening the plains where the ransomed abide:
Flow onward forever, wonderful, wonderful river!
Pure as thy source, which no darkness can hide!

Sunday Morning Praise

Face to Face With Christ My Savior

Face to face with Christ, my Savior,
Face to face what will it be,
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ who died for me?

Only faintly now I see Him,
With the darkened veil between,
But a blessèd day is coming,
When His glory shall be seen.

What rejoicing in His presence,
When are banished grief and pain;
When the crooked ways are straightened,
And the dark things shall be plain.

Face to face oh, blissful moment!
Face to face to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ who loves me so.

Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!

O I Want To See Him

As I journey thro’ the land, singing as I go,
Pointing souls to Calvary — to the crimson flow,
Many arrows pierce my soul from without, within;
But my Lord leads me on, thro’ Him I must win.
O I want to see Him, look upon His face,
There to sing forever of His saving grace;
On the streets of glory let me lift my voice,
Cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice.

A Soldier Of The Cross

Am I a soldier of the cross,
A follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?

Must I be carried to the skies
On flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

Since I must fight if I would reign;
Increase my courage, Lord.
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.

In the name of Christ the King,
Who hath purchased life for me,
Thro’ grace I’ll win the promised crown,
Whate’er my cross may be.

2 Timothy 2:4

In The All Victorious Army

Why are you marching along to war? Soldiers true, who are you?
What is the cause you are fighting for? Why are you never sad?
O we are only rank and file, treading the path for many a mile;
Still every face must bear a smile, for Jesus has made us glad.
We’ve enlisted in the cause victorious of the everlasting Lord;
We are marching in the ranks all glorious, with the shield and sword.
Christ is our captain, Christ our might, so we fight, seeking right;
Christ is leading us to light in the all victorious army.

Hidden Peace

I cannot tell thee whence it came,
This peace within my breast;
But this I know, there fills my soul
A strange and tranquil rest.

Beneath the toil and care of life,
This hidden stream flows on;
My weary soul no longer thirsts,
Nor am I sad and lone.

I cannot tell the half of love,
Unfeigned, supreme, divine,

With beams of hope to shine.

I cannot tell thee why He chose

But if I suffer here with Him

Sweeter As The Years Go By

Of Jesus’ love that sought me, when I was lost in sin;
Of wondrous grace that brought me back to His fold again;
Of heights and depths of mercy, far deeper than the sea,
And higher than the heavens, my theme shall ever be.

He trod in old Judea life’s pathway long ago;
The people thronged about Him, His saving grace to know;
He healed the broken hearted, and caused the blind to see;
And still His great heart yearneth in love for even me.

’Twas wondrous love which led Him for us to suffer loss,
To bear without a murmur the anguish of the cross;
With saints redeemed in glory, let us our voices raise,
Till Heav’n and earth re-echo with our Redeemer’s praise.

Sweeter as the years go by, sweeter as the years go by,
Richer, fuller, deeper, Jesus’ love is sweeter,
Sweeter as the years go by.

In gardens planted by Thine hand;
There grow Thy saints in faith and love,
Blessed with Thine influence from above;

His Billows

They are His billows, whether they go o’er us,
Hiding His face in smothering spray and foam;
Or smooth and sparkling, spread a path before us,
And to our haven bear us safely home.

They are His billows, whether for our succor
He walks across them, stilling all our fear;
Or to our cry there comes no aid nor answer,
And in the lonely silence none is near.

They are His billows, whether we are toiling
Through tempest-driven waves that never cease,
While deep to deep with clamor loud is calling;
Or at His word they hush themselves in peace.

They are His billows, whether He divides them,
Making us walk dryshod where seas had flowed;
Or lets tumultuous breakers surge about us,
Rushing unchecked across our only road.

They are His billows, and He brings us through them;
So He has promised, so His love will do.
Keeping and leading, guiding and upholding,
To His sure harbor, He will bring us through.

Is not life much more important than these things that cause you care?
See the birds — they sow and reap not, nor in barns do store away.
Yet your heav’nly Father feeds them, have you not more worth than they?

And why worry about clothing? See the lilies’ glad array;
Solomon in all his splendor never dressed as fine as they.
This is how God clothes the grasses, though their life is but a day.
Will He not much more meet your needs? Let your faith not fade away.

So I tell you, do not worry, asking what you’ll eat or drink.
Nor be anxious about clothing — These are things that all men seek.
And your Father knows you need them, worry won’t command His power.
Which of you by constant fretting adds to life a single hour?

Seek first, then, your Father’s kingdom and His righteousness on high.
All these things will then be given, God will not neglect your cry.
So fret not about tomorrow, God directs the future, too.
Though each day will bring its troubles, trust in Him — He’ll see you through.

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not of more value than they?

Matthew 6:26

My Heav’nly Father Watches Over Me

I trust in God wherever I may be,
Upon the land, or on the rolling sea,
For come what may, from day to day,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.
I trust in God, I know He cares for me;
On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
Tho’ billows roll, He keeps my soul;
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
Hebrews 4:9

Lord, I Believe a Rest Remains

Lord, I believe a rest remains to all thy people known;
A rest where pure enjoyment reigns, and thou art loved alone.
A rest where all our soul’s desire is fixed on things above;
Where doubt, and pain, and fear expire, cast out by perfect love.
From every evil motion freed, the Son hath made us free,
On all the powers of hell we tread, in glorious liberty.

Safe in the way of life, above death, earth, and dread we rise;
We find, when perfect in love, our long-sought paradise.
O that I now the rest might know, believe, and enter in!
Now, Savior, now the power bestow, and let me cease from sin!
Remove this hardness from my heart, this unbelief remove;
To me the rest of faith impart, the Sabbath of thy love.

Come, O Savior, come away, upon my soul descend
No longer from thy creature stay, my Author and my End.
The bliss thou hast for me prepared no longer be delay’d;
Come, my exceeding great reward, for whom I first was made.
Come, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and seal me thine abode!
Let all I am in thee be lost, let all be lost in God.

He said to them, “Come aside...to a deserted place and rest a while.”
Mark 6:31-32

There is a Rest for You

When the cares of earth are pressing,
Not a star of hope in view,
There are healing streams refreshing,
In a Savior’s love for you.
There’s a home and rest forever,
When the cares of earth are done.
Where the heart is weary never,
There is rest for everyone.
There is rest, sweet rest for you.

Sunday Morning Praise

Thanks to God
(Something to be thankful for)

Thanks to God for my Redeemer, for all Thou dost provide!
Thanks for times now but a memory, for Jesus by my side!
Thanks for pleasant, balmy springtime, for dark and stormy fall!
Thanks for tears by now forgotten, for peace within my soul!

Thanks for prayers that Thou hast answered, for what Thou dost deny!
Thanks for storms that I have weathered, for all Thou dost supply!
Thanks for pain, and thanks for pleasure, for comfort in despair!
Thanks for grace that none can measure, for love beyond compare!

Thanks for roses by the wayside, for thorns their stems contain!
Thanks for home and thanks for fireside, for hope, that sweet refrain!
Thanks for joy and thanks for sorrow, for heav’nly peace with Thee!
Thanks for hope in the tomorrow, through all eternity!

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving.
Psalm 95:2

Psalm 100

A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

1 Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
2 Serve the LORD with gladness;
.......come before His presence with singing.
3 Know that the LORD, He is God; it is He who has made us, .......and not we ourselves; we are His people
.......and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His
.......courts with praise. Be thankful to Him,
.......and bless His name.
5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting,
......and His truth endures to all generations.
