Dear EIOAC,
When I graduated from college I wore a beard. I tried for almost a year to get work but no one would hire me. Finally I accepted that people would judge me on my appearence and shaved the beard off. I was employed in 2 hours. My taste had not changed but I had matured. When you are no longer willing to be insulted and misjudged because of your appearence you will change it.

Personally I am fond of Goths and do not find the dress up frightening. It is exotic though, and is certainly done for effect. It is disingenious to say you are not pleased to be a bit shocking. Go ahead and enjoy it, but don't complain about achieving the very effect you are trying for. If you dress to shock you can't complain when people are shocked.

One other thing, evil may be a concept but it is a great deal more than JUST a concept. Evil hurts real people. Evil causes real pain, real damage, real death and real suffering. Look up Idi Amin, look up Pol Pot
