Can it not be said that redemption is NOT of God's grace but of His will, set in Himself? Because it is not understood in that light is why it is confused with salvation as being, "unmerited grace". "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;" Philippians 2:15 (KJV)
