Kelly and Mattis seem to feel that the president of the United States needs adult supervision.

This raises an interesting question: Can Kelly structure the White House to make Donald Trump grow up a little bit? In the words of “Bull Durham,” can Kelly “mature” the kid?

PJ, what do you think?

Kelly is too much like Trump (though he is sane) to influence Trump in a positive manner.

Donald Trump appears to have revealed just how little he knows about energy and the climate during yet another bizarre press conference, this time with the Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg.

During a Q&A session he was asked by a reporter what it would take for the United States to remain in the Paris Accord on climate change.

The President repeated his claims it treated the US “unfairly” and was a “bad deal” but did say “we could conceivably go back in”.

Solberg then took the opportunity to push the virtues of environmentally sound technology but Trump responded with a brusque - and bizarre - answer.

He said: “One of the great assets of Norway is a thing called ‘water’ - they have tremendous hydropower, tremendous. In fact most of your energy is produced by hydro.
I wish we’d do some of that.”

Could someone mention The Hoover Dam to Trump.

Thanks

Trump's Secretary of State got it right. He's a (bleeping) moron.

Bad:

US monthly deficit largest in 6 years

New Treasury Department numbers show that the US government racked up a $215 billion deficit in February -- the largest monthly deficit in six years.
It was also $23 billion higher than the deficit for the same month last year.

Deficits are a measure of the gulf between what the government spends and what it collects in revenue.

Last month, the federal government spent roughly $371 billion, up $7 billion from February 2017. Tax receipts, meanwhile, fell to $156 billion from $172 billion a year earlier.

Interest payments on the nation's debt, Social Security and Medicare, and outlays by the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense, are the areas where spending has gone up the most, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

The CBO attributed the drop in revenue to higher tax refunds and a reduction in income and payroll tax withholding in the wake of the tax cuts that went into effect on January 1.

For the first five months of this fiscal year, which began on October 1, the country's deficit totaled $391 billion, which is $40 billion higher than the same period last year.

For the full fiscal year, Treasury now projects the annual deficit will near $833 billion, and then $984 billion in fiscal 2019.

The climb back to trillion dollar deficits — a hallmark of the financial crisis — has been hastened by policies put into place in the past several months.

You can't cut taxes if you don't cut spending. So much for the deficit hawks and fiscal conservatives.

:sozo: Balance the budget! Make it law.

The irony is that President "David Dennison" attempted to play "hardball" with Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, ignorant of the fact that America actually enjoys a surplus with her largest trading partner!

These unguarded comments can only serve to harden and increase the level of distrust that Canadian public opinion already has for this President - politicians making any concessions to the US will pay a high price in the next election!

The other irony is that Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin, border states that were key to the Trump victory, also have interlocking economies whereby substantial numbers of workers are dependent US/Canada trade!

GM has estimated that some of its car parts cross the border 7x before becoming the finished product!

Since Trump's lawyers are busy making conditions for Trump's willingness to testify, I think they already know that.

I believe he will fire Mueller because he KNOWS he will be charged with perjury should he testify ... and his enablers (the GOP) will allow it.

You might be right. I would think any rational person would know that firing Mueller would bring a disaster upon him, but the alternative might be so awful for him that he can't do anything else.

It will, if it happens, be an effective confession of guilt.

Mueller must be stopped. He is totally inept.

Whatever criticisms one wants to level at Mueller - "inept" isn't one of them!

Donald J Trump, alias "David Dennison," could be removed from office in several ways:
*****************************************************************************
1. the Mueller Investigation proves that he colluded with the Russians to influence the 2016 Election in his favour

2. the Democrats gain control of the House after the 2018 Interims and impeach this President - even if he didn't collude with the Russians

3. the "Stormy Daniels" affair opens the floodgates exposing Trump as a serial philanderer, with the Republicans finally forced to have him resign before being impeached

4. VP Pence and the Cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment and with support from Congress, remove the President from office

When is your celebration party?
