It's Russia mania! Russia Russia Russia. Nothing else of note is going on in the country right now. Thanks, media. What a circus.

it was hacking an email account

i despise this new use of "hacking" to mean "anything we want it to, including solving life's problems, like how to squeeze the toothpaste tube from the end to get all of it out"

if they "hacked" the election, that suggests they accessed the voting computers and gave additional votes to trump
I didn't say they hacked the election. :D

I've seen a lot of vaguely worded assertions - has anybody seen any specific details on what the russians are supposed to have done?

Basically the Russians hacked both the DNC and RNC, but chose to release information about the DNC as they viewed Trump as the preferred candidate given the two choices. Given her negative vocalization toward Putin, it comes as no surprise that they exposed details about her and the campaign.

It is important to understand that Russia did not alter ballots, change the electoral votes, or commit any type of voter fraud scheme. All they did was release dirty details about Hillary and the DNC. That information is what the American people needed to hear, regardless of the source.

It's called Evidence and it would be nice to have some for why Obama is trying to start a war with Russia in his last month in office.
Providing specific details would be tantamount to leading the Russian intelligence services straight to the doorsteps of American sources.

Its a sorry state of affairs when the president-elect prefers to making friends with a known "war criminal" who has deliberately bombed civilians, food convoys and hospitals, while actively undermining the credibility of his own intelligence agencies.

Did countries expel Diplomats because of the Birther issue?
Unlike Trump, Obama actually takes the time to attend his daily intelligence briefings, and his actions were based on their findings.

If "fool" was listening to some of Trump's nominees being questioned by the Senate committees, he would know that they and many Republicans are critical of Obama for not going far enough in sanctioning Putin.

In fact the nominee for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, has said that he and the president-elect have yet to sit down and discuss Russian affairs!

How can a future president find time to trade insults with Meryl Streep, but can't find the time to discuss Russian foreign policy with his own Secretary of State nominee - where are his priorities?

yep - shoulda been the media what done it

i had heard talk of a "disinformation campaign" where the russians were sposed to have pushed false stories , primarily on the internet, primarily on social media - not hearing as much about that now - does anybody (who follows the US news) remember what that was all about?

Then you keep it a secret.

Obama's Intelligence Agencies, Trump's Agencies will actually be intelligent.

Too bad he couldn't figure out that Hillary was using a private server.
Did he sleep thru that briefing?

I guess they should have got theyselves elected President.

That's called playing your cards close to the vest. He's not going to tell Tillerson his plans until Tillerson has the Job.
The Senate is confirming Trumps pick for the job, not critiquing his foreign policy.
How can a future president find time to trade insults with Meryl Streep, but can't find the time to discuss Russian foreign policy with his own Secretary of State nominee - where are his priorities?
In getting his pick approved. They can't attack his policy if they don't know what it is.

Cite? Link?
The swearing in is at noon, so command changes hands then.
Does that mean everyone needs new orders at that time since there's been a change?
Does The Donald give a special nod to the Joint Chiefs of Staff that means "Carry On as Before" as soon as he's sworn in?

Sadly, he's just not that guy.
He's not the coup sort.
The Donald? Yup, he'd do a coup, and he has the Charisma to pull it off.

Interesting,
So in DC the President appoints the Commander of the National Guard.
Being a Political appointment they can be replaced with a new Pres and submit a letter of resignation to stream line things.
In this case the Trump Administration chose to accept that resignation and appoint a replacement for this General that was appointed under Bush.

So, Trump wanted to make sure His Guy was running the Guard in DC the moment he takes office.
