Not getting much traction this time. The "Obama knew about this and didn't do anything" story fell apart as soon as it was shown that Obama had taking action against Russian for their interference.

If they ever find anything, it will be far too late to matter at all.

Apparently, Mueller is investigating whether Manafort offered a banker named Steve Calk the post of Secretary of the Army in exchange for loans for himself. And apparently he was calling the army asking for a briefing. Which, you know, raised some questions.

It's been a really active week, even though it's a short one, basically either new indictments, new plea agreements, or new cooperating witnesses every day. Today, Rick Gates finally came in from the cold, and pleaded to charges that could bring 4-6 years in prison by themselves, and also signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with prosecutors. He was also indicted for lying to the FBI during his initial proffer, which means that after telling the FBI all sorts of things that were incriminating, he lost his immunity.

Rick Gates is now wholly owned by Robert Mueller's team. The indictments cover the entire period of the campaign that he worked on. And he sure looks central to the hooks the Russians had into the Trump campaign. Every other person in the campaign who has any exposure should now be panicking.

One thing that interested me is that the thing that Rick Gates lied about during is proffer was that he was talking to Dana Rohrabacher, Republican congressman from California with long-suspected ties to Russia. He literally surrendered his immunity to lie about that, in a context where he couldn't have been charged for what he said otherwise. What's so important that it's worth doing that?

This thing is both sharpening and broadening.

Trump's son Donny indicated he was interested in meeting with Russian agents to get dirt on Hillary Clinton. Then they had a meeting. Trump himself publicly admitted he wanted the Russians to release more hacked emails. Mueller's not done with that.

And in this kind of thing, the coverup is usually what takes them down. Trump, being unable to control his mouth, has already admitted firing Comey because he was investigating the collusion issue. But it appears Mueller is still building on that one.
