I think that the main reason is because of what Mark Twain wrote about the Jews. Take a look or review it if you are already aware of it:

Oh please. I'm tired of hearing that lame idea...that that scripture is being fulfilled NOW. That scripture was fulfilled over 2,000 years ago when the Jews returned to Israel from Babylon! You are barking up the wrong tree. It has already been done!

You should be concerned only with what Christ's church is doing now---the Christian congregation. It doesn't matter what Israel does any more. Peter said that Christians are now God's special people.

Writing to Christians in Asia he said: "YOU are a 'chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession, that you should declare abroad the excellencies' of the one that called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. For you were once not a people, but are now God's people." (I Peter 2:9,10)

We ARE getting closer....to the time when Jesus comes back in full Kingdom power. He's directing his Christian congregation to finish the preaching work of the Kingdom (Matthew 24:14). Have you been involved in that?

"This good news [gospel] of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14.

(Do you know what the Kingdom is?)

Well, I did watch a sermon delivered by Pastor John Hagee on TV Evangelism and he did mention that the best way to rush the return of Jesus is to do all "we" Christians can do to help the Jews to return to the Land of Israel. I did not find the idea foolish but original. Do you know something? I agree with him. I even consider it a blessing to both Jews and Christians. Jews, especially from Russia who desperately want to come and don't have all the money necessary, specially because the Russian Government makes it harder and harder for them to provide the money they have to pay to leave Russia. And for Christians, the consolation
that faith produces that indeed Jesus will return faster.
