El Paso Shooter Identified Online As Trump Supporter Who Didn’t Like ‘Race Mixing’
Patrick Crusius allegedly left behind a racist manifesto before killing at least 15 people at Cielo Vista Mall.

he suspect in a deadly mass shooting at a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday was widely identified on the internet as a young white man whose social media activity showed support and sympathy for the president’s apparent white nationalist agenda. The name and photos of a man purported to be Patrick Crusius quickly circulated across Twitter in the hours after the shooting that first began outside a Walmart store at Cielo Vista Mall was first reported. If those reports were accurate, Crusius, allegedly a Texas native, just turned 21 last week.

Washington Examiner reporter Anna Giaritelli tweeted a photo of the suspect she said law enforcement identified as being Patrick Crusius.

That may well be. But the solution to murder — regardless of the brand — is for people to learn self-defense and arm themselves, and for the government to execute justice.

We have a response that is useful and good in all such scenarios, while the liberals go looking for a social media history to push a political agenda.

If you're not calling for people to be armed and criminals to be executed, you're part of the problem.

It is terrorism but it isn't coordinated, nor have we identified any kind of unifying thread, unlike with Islamic political terrorism. At least there we've got a possible lead beforehand. In fact our le has preemptively thwarted multiple planned massacres throughout the years since 9/11.

These mass shooters we're dealing with, are invisible until they just up and massacre.

FBI statistics show it's mostly homegrown right-wing terrorism with a strong admixture of racism. There is an occasional left-winger or religious fanatic in the mix. Mostly, it's fear and loathing of "those other people." Welcome to the age of Trump.

Last night, another one went off in Dayton, OH. Once again, quick work by the police limited what could have been a much,much worse disaster. Only nine dead so far. Equipped as the shooter was, it could been dozens.

You're right to be wary of solutions that involve controlling guns. I'd go for allowing only military and police to have weapons with large magazines, but what's causing these is hate, not guns.

We live in a time when we are being encouraged to hate other people who don't look like us, or worship the way we do. Until Americans regain control of that, it's going to get worse.

Lock up maybe 20% of the population? Not feasible. Predict which Trump racists are going to take his "2nd Amendment people" talk seriously? Psychiatrists will tell you that they can't do it.

Draining the sewers won't be a matter of locking people up or taking away their guns. It will be a long, slow process of restoring American values to America. The next election will decide if we have the fiber to get started on it.

That's the sort of thinking that brought us to this pass. Yes, we should make it harder for a fool to kill dozens of people before police can react. But remember, the bad guys are looking for ways to take down our freedoms. Fear is a great way to get that done.

It's not time to take away freedoms; it's time to delouse the political process. Legally.
