When those of Israel heard John the Baptist say, "Repent, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand", what do you think they thought he was referring to?
What only source of information did they have with which to understand the term?

The kingdom of Christ and God; the kingdom of our Lord and his Christ; his kingdom and glory; the kingdom of God; the kingdom of his beloved Son; the kingdom of heaven; and the kingdom of light---ARE ALL THE SAME KINGDOM.

We do understand this doctrine from one of the TWELVE apostles for the TWELVE tribes of ISRAEL.

It's pretty simple.

Paul, on the other hand, tells us that we HAVE BEEN forgiven all trespasses. And we thank and praise the LORD for that!

Col 2:13-15 (KJV)
(2:13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (2:14) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (2:15) [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

You should be thankful that Christ has already done this. But instead you want to be an Israelite and put the focus on your confession.

When one wants to be saved and enter God's grace, one must come to the blood of the Lamb to have your sins washed away. Many of the Jews did not believe that Jesus' blood would do that, they wanted to keep working at cleaning themselves by sacrificing animals every day.

We come to God through Jesus and confess our sins and we must believe that they are being washed away.

The scapegoat took away Israel's sins. Read the Bible.

The lamb's blood.

Exodus 29:38 “This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day: two lambs a year old. 39 Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight. 40 With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 41 Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and its drink offering as in the morning—a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord.

42 “For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the tent of meeting, before the Lord. There I will meet you and speak to you;

Exodus 12:3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household.

Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away our sins.
No more does anyone ever use the blood of animals to atone for their sins.

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

We can see in Genesis that God gave us a glimpse of a son being sacrificed as a lamb.

Genesis 22:7
Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"

Isaiah prophesied about Jesus the Lamb of God.
Isaiah 53:7
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

Isaiah 53:10
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

I believe they thought John was referring to the Messiah who they believed would come and free them from Roman occupation. They were looking for an earthly king and had no clue the Messiah came to die on a cross as payment for sin.

The Torah.

The Jews who rejected Jesus thought that, but the Jews who believed in Jesus were taught that he would die for their sins.

Jesus explained it.

It is about what is spiritual.

It is about having God live in your heart.

True, pretty much all of the early converts were Jewish.

The only converts when Jesus walked the earth were Jews.

Jesus came first for the lost sheep of Israel.

Those are the Jews who God accepted; they were His and they had to go through Jesus to remain His.

The rest of the Jews were cut off and hardened so that they could not be saved when Jesus walked the earth.

Jesus said when he is crucified then all could come to him, even the Jews who had rejected him.

You forget about the centurion.Jesus told the centurion that He had not found so great a faith as the centurion had.

I did not forget him. He was not yet saved though. Jesus had not yet been crucified.

Jesus came first for those who already belonged to God, the lost sheep of Israel are the Jews.

Which of the TWO lambs takes away the sins?..... the one that left alive.
