GW is expected to increase extreme weather events. Go figure.

Yea that's what it is...GW also caused the record low temperatures in early 2014 as well as early snowfall in late 2014, sure you want to stay with "Global Warming"? You might want to change your position to "Climate Change" like the rest of the liars. :hammer:

2014 is shaping up to be the warmest year on record unless some grotesque cold sets in from now until january. You might want to consider the world GLOBAL in global warming. What matters are global trends, not what happens in one or a few places. So there was snow early and maybe even cold some places now, so what? There was 15 degrees celsius (59 degrees fahrenheit) in Norway as late as last week, that is unheard of this late. But you know what? That does not matter. What counts are the global temperatures, and those are approaching a record high this year.

And by the rest of the liars, I assume you mean the 98% of the professional researchers that work with climate research? Where is your research data? Show us how they are wrong using scientific data. Not newspaper articles from the 70s, but contemporary peer reviewed research.

As has already been shown, there has been no change in terminology. You might want to go back and check the graphs of the usage of both terms over the last few decades.

To avoid the charge of cynical liar yourself, you could find some evidence that there has been a change of language. I don't think you can, so give the lies a rest - they don't help your arguments.

Record snow in Columbia, South Carolina

Columbia, SC is experiencing its earliest snowfall on record. It beat the previous record (Nov 9, 1913) by 9 days.

Warming will cause more snowfall. It's not hard to figure out. Warmer oceans, more humidity, and therefore more snow. Dallas, for example has both warmer winters and more snow than in the past. This was predicted decades ago.

I know, I know..........weather has nothing to do with climate change...........

A single event, no. Local record highs and record lows happen every year. What is notable, as you learned earlier, is that there are many more record highs in the last few decades than record lows.

Denier reaction to global warming:
The sky is falling!

Yep. :plain: That's the denier stuff.

We'll adapt. Virtually no climatologist thinks it's the end of the world. But it will be more interesting for those in marginal places like sea coasts and dry areas.

The trend will be for cropland to become pasture and pasture to become semi-arid, and semi-arid to become desert. Much of the west will become drier.

The Gulf Coast, already facing record insurance premiums because of increasing severity of storms, will see more of that.

And yes, more snow. Ironic, um?

Worldwide, more deserts, food shortages, and of course, wars as things get tough as leaders look to grab what they can to get food and water.

It's already underway on the borders of the expanding Sahara.

Rex writes:
But as I pointed out, this activity is not new.

Actually, volcanic activity was higher in previous decades. And the melting is primarily on the coast, as warmer water undercuts ice shelves and the margins of glaciers.

For years, the continent at the bottom of the world seemed to be the only place on the planet not experiencing climate change. Previous research indicated that temperatures across much of Antarctica were staying the same or slightly cooling.

The report Wednesday was compiled as part of the 2007-2008 International Polar Year, an effort by scientists to conduct intense Arctic and Antarctic research over the past two Antarctic summers.

The big surprise was exactly how much glaciers are melting in western Antarctica, a vast land mass on the Pacific Ocean side of the continent that is next to the South Pole and includes the Antarctic Peninsula.

The biggest of the western glaciers, the Pine Island Glacier, is moving 40% faster than it was in the 1970s, discharging water and ice more rapidly into the ocean, said Summerhayes, a member of International Polar Year's steering committee.

Warming will cause more snowfall.

:rotfl:

Newsflash: It has to 32 degrees or less to snow.

Because it's colder than it's supposed to be, it is snowing earlier than it's supposed to.

That is why they have snow in South Carolina on Nov 1st. It isn't because it's getting warmer, it's because it's getting colder. They haven't had snow this early in South Carolina in over 100 years.

It's not hard to figure out.

Yes, I know. But it's really hard to defend a global warming hoax when it's colder than it's supposed to be.

Warmer oceans, more humidity, and therefore more snow.

See above.

Again, it has to be 32 degrees to snow.

No it's not.

You only believe that because the people who propagate the hoax change the historical data.

You might want to consider the world GLOBAL in global warming.

You might want to learn how to spell the word "word"

What matters are global trends, not what happens in one or a few places.

It's not getting warmer.

Only those who believe the hoax claim it is.

So there was snow early and maybe even cold some places now, so what?

It proves it's a hoax.

And by the rest of the liars, I assume you mean the 98% of the professional researchers that work with climate research?

Another lie.

The reality is that 75 out of 77 scientists out of over 10,000 scientists questioned believe in the hoax.

The fact that you guys have to lie about how many scientists agree with the hoax is proof in itself that it's a hoax.

The man made global warming hoax is built upon lie upon lie, and people like you are foolish enough to believe the lie.

Where is your research data?

1.4 million sq. kilometers more Arctic ice than 2012, more Antarctic ice extent than ever recored, record low temperatures, record early snow falls, etc. etc.

These facts prove the hoax wrong.

Show us how they are wrong using scientific data.

You guys manipulate the data over and over again.

Not newspaper articles from the 70s, but contemporary peer reviewed research.

These idiots you call "peers" are the people behind the hoax.

The science is settled...

The fact that these global warming hoax proponents are constantly claiming "settled" is proof in itself that it's a hoax.

No one with facts on their side is afraid of debate. But that's what the hoax proponents are afraid of. That's why they are always screaming "Settled", "Settled", "Settled".....

They do so because that's what people who advocate a lie always do.

No, the sky isn't falling. It's just getting warmer. There will be some bad things as a result, but the human race will survive.

tetalastai still doesn't get it:
They are no different than the Chicken Littles in the 70's who said an Ice Age was coming.

As you learned, even in the 70s, most climatologists were concerned with global warming.

No, the sky isn't falling. .

Really! There is a bump on my head, others also have bumps on their head... the sky is falling! There can be no other explanation, can there?

or maybe there can?

Climate on the Earth has been changing for 4 billion years. There have been times when it was much warmer, and times when it was much colder....

http://www.c3headlines.com/2012/08/modest-global-warming-since-little-ice-age-natural-rebound-of-337-years-amounts-to-only-22-degrees.html

further if you look at the charts of warming/cooling over last few decades you will find low correlation to co2 lvls but high correlation to insolation/solar activity:

http://www.tmgnow.com/repository/solar/lassen1.html

Oh but who woulda thought CLIMATE might be influenced by that little yellow thing in the sky..... nah must be humans...

Perfect denier logic. That's why you guys fall for those stories in the first place.

There can be no other explanation, can there?

Instead of listening to foolish stories, why not just learn about the issue for yourself? Thinking for yourself might be scarey at first, but eventually you'll be a lot better off.

Climate on the Earth has been changing for 4 billion years.

Lately, it's been changing in some very unusual ways.
As the Earth moved out of ice ages over the past million years, the global temperature rose a total of 4 to 7 degrees Celsius over about 5,000 years. In the past century alone, the temperature has climbed 0.7 degrees Celsius, roughly ten times faster than the average rate of ice-age-recovery warming.
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/GlobalWarming/page3.php

As usual, there's a reason for it. Turns out, greatly increasing the carbon dioxide level the way we've been doing it, traps more heat in the atmosphere.

further if you look at the charts of warming/cooling over last few decades you will find low correlation to co2 lvls

Show us your numbers. What is the correlation? If you were just talking, and never actually did a correlation, then maybe we can see what the data actually show:

image.php

So what's that? Simple, really. The oceans have a much, much higher specific heat than the continents or the atmosphere. So most of the heat from global warming is going into the oceans. That's why we see so many destructive effects this early, related to oceans, like stronger storms and rapid melting of the Antarctic ice at the margin of the continent. The heat from atmospheric CO2 is accountable for the warming of the seas as well as the warming of the atmosphere.

but high correlation to insolation/solar activity:

Well, let's take a look...
Solar_vs_Temp_basic.gif

http://skepticalscience.com/pics/Solar_vs_Temp_basic.gif

I dunno, Phil; that looks like a pretty big disconnect to me. Just saying...

Oh but who woulda thought CLIMATE might be influenced by that little yellow thing in the sky..... nah must be humans...

As you can see by the graph, insolation has an effect on the atmosphere. What's troubling, is that we've been able to override that effect. We're just coming out of a deep sunspot minimum. Things should be getting a lot colder (look at the solar energy curve on the graph). And yet, it's getting hotter. That's the issue.

the science is settled: the Sky is falling!

Calm yourself. Start learning about the issue, and stop believing every story a denier tells you. Then you'll be free and you won't have to worry about falling skies.

Nobody would argue that mankind can continue to pollute the land or the water supply indefinitely without negative consequences - so why should the continued use of the atmosphere as an "open-sewer" be any different?

The earth's land, water and air are all finite resources!
