Hypocrisy of the Republican Party

The Tea party: It's all about the deficit and debt! Until Republicans get into power, then it's Repeal the ACA, Build the wall (but have US taxpayers pay for it). Of course the same thing happened under George W and Reagan.

Mind you the recession Obama had to deal with was far worse than the relatively minor ones Reagan and Bush had to work on. But you may note the pattern. Republicans talk about the deficit, but then blow it up.

Then we have the republican party positions big banks, Russia It's bad when Hillary talks to Goldman Sachs in a speech, because they're bad people. But when Donald Trump appoints those same people to regulate banking? That's smart business.

Hillary Clinton should be locked up for using a private e-mail server. She *could* have compromised sensitive information by accident maybe. But if you intentionally leak information to unapproved allies - Pakistan - because you think it's a good idea? Hello National Security adviser Michael Flynn!

Obama's too weak on Russia! Oh wait, Trump says Putin is a strong leader and didn't really hack anything related to the election, or maybe he did but it didn't do anything and he's still our buddy. Poll Republicans and suddenly many more like Putin because . . . Trump told them so.

The Republican position is demonize your opponent, and then do the same thing and claim it's great leadership. Sadly too many people are easily duped by this.

The Democrats lost because they spent years demonizing half the country. Nothing says fanaticism quite like expecting to win an election by being hateful to your countrymen rather than appealing to them.

Point it, everyone else just got tired of being harassed. Take some accountability :wave2:

Uhh no. Democrats lost the whitehouse because of Comey's letter, and nominating a deeply unpopular and flawed candidate. There are other issues dominating at the local level, but a lot of it does come down to poor messaging. Demonizing the public not so much, but failing to tell people what democrats are working *for* rather than a wishy-washy message of inclusion. People love a simple message, and often read into it whatever they want. But Trump is like a whitewashed tomb. The only question is, will people willfully ignore the bones and filth?

You won because people believed a demagogue's lies were true. What will happen when they find out they are lies?

they'll let the other side's demagogue succeed with their lies in 2020? :idunno:

Nothing to offer but the same type of tripe people got tired of you liberals for in the first place. Everything is bigoted, everything is racist, everything is sexist. Slandering and harassing others, anon anon.

Trump wasn't seen as any of these things until he ran against your candidates. It's high time you all just can it, because after the past several years people have stopped seeing your words as credible.

Whatever reason that helps you sleep at night...:chuckle: Certainly those two were contributing factors but, Comey was showing quite a bit of duplicity, really it's the whole package that lost you this election. The fact is because neither she nor the DNC can sell this marxist nonsense on a national level, you have a large choir that all sing from a small gallery, and that gallery is shrinking.

Demonizing the public not so much

Oh really...calling half the nation deplorable? Racist? Xenophobe? shall I go on? there is a plethora of "ism's" and "phones" that you you lefties utilize to demonize anyone that disagrees with your nonsensical worldview.

but failing to tell people what democrats are working *for* rather than a wishy-washy message of inclusion.

Democrats are not working "for" anything that doesn't benefit their power structure...The messages of inclusion whether it is , "Together", or " Yes We Can" are just marxist buzz words because it is never been about the people it is always about an elite power structure and the drones that are attached to it...parasites feeding on the body politic as a host.

People love a simple message, and often read into it whatever they want. But Trump is like a whitewashed tomb. The only question is, will people willfully ignore the bones and filth?

That may be but, no more of a whitewashed tomb than the current occupant, or the desperately wicked candidate you were attempting to elect in his place. Remember when you point that boney finger there are three pointing back at you.

You can keep saying this over and over, but it simply isn't the case. The case wasn't even really made to the states that ended up voting for Trump (there was little to no campaigning there). And as I've said before if you poll people, they want democratic policies and a lot of people thought Trump would implement some. They're going to be sorely disappointed.

The message wasn't the status quo. It was making people's lives better with policy changes. Fixing Obamacare's problems, helping people get higher education, helping to fix disparities in public education, bringing early childhood education to everyone, addressing disparities in policing. etc. etc.

Oh really...calling half the nation deplorable? Racist? Xenophobe? shall I go on? there is a plethora of "ism's" and "phones" that you you lefties utilize to demonize anyone that disagrees with your nonsensical worldview.
Talk about pot calling kettle black. That's all I hear from you and people like you: stupid leftie, liberal marxist, commie whatever. "We're the real america, you're not." I'm sorry but if you think saying nice things to people that espouse racist ideas is magically going to make them vote for you, obviously you haven't been watching the past election. Trump called pretty much everyone all manner of names and still won. Hillary apologized for her statements and still lost.

I note that you and nobody else have responded to the substance of the hypocrisy. You keep going on about how you won and calling more names. People like you on the right that reject clear facts and insist on believing whatever stories Fox news and Breitbart feed you believe yourselves to be the elite, to be always right. All the evidence shows that every time we try these same ideas, they cause damage to our nation. And I will not hesitate to call people like you a willfully ignorant bigot. But the left will make their argument to the people that wanted to take a chance with Trump that the data is on our side. The bottom line is we are both part of America and there will be a continued fight for it's heart. You guys didn't give up when Obama got 8 years, and neither will we.

We got the New Deal because unbridled capitalism failed, it saved our country from destruction. But all the right wants to do is tear it down. Because apparently the gilded age was a good idea as were the times when rivers caught on fire, children died in unsafe factories and hundreds of people died from smog. Explain to me why you want those things again?

Still no defense I see.

All of this has not gone unnoticed.
Republicans reach staggering new heights of hypocrisy

It's so bad Chuck Schumer sent Mitch McConnell's own letter about cabinet nominations back to him, replacing Harry Reid's name with McConnell's.

I am not sure why your whining about it, because it was your own that changed Senate rules...Now you cry hypocrisy & inequality? The democrat's sins are now going to revisit them. hey! they are only playing by the rules you all put in place.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...e-of-senate-democrats/?utm_term=.42ecb5ab465e

yep - for those who dont want to check the link:

That’s because exactly three years ago, the Democratic Senate majority — led by Harry Reid (Nev.) — rammed through controversial rules fundamentally changing the way the Senate does business. They unleashed in November 2013 what’s called the “nuclear option” allowing senators to approve by a simple majority all presidential appointments to the executive branch and the judiciary, with a big exception for Supreme Court justices.

Democrats took the controversial step because they were so frustrated by what they saw as Republican foot-dragging on President Obama’s choices for his administration and federal judgeships. Under the new rules, it takes only a simple majority of senators to confirm such appointments instead of the 60 typically needed to force Senate action.

That's not what we're talking about, if you'd actually read anything I posted. But hey you'd be turning over a new leaf if you bothered to do that.

The problem is Reid is ramming through the nominees. Sure they took away the filibuster, but no filibuster doesn't mean - ethics review isn't finished for many nominees and run as many of the hearings as possible on the same day as the inauguration. They're intentionally trying to keep people from looking into any problems with the nominees.

Democrats removed the filibuster because Republicans abused it and blocked pretty much everything. Now they're going still farther, when they spent ages complaining about "ramming things through", (which was regular order).
