What would you have us do?...put our heads in the sand and ignore the onward march of people to their destruction? How would we explain this to a God who would be requiring our blood for theirs? Sometimes, Granite, loving someone as Yeshua loved us means getting down and dirty as He did. Doesn't mean the dirt sticks.

Yeah, well it sure seems like some of it does. Some of what I read coming from good upstanding Christian minds here is borderline pornographic, whether it's from their own minds or from links they post. It's...disconcerting, let's put it that way.

Sympathy for adults who want to have sex with children ie. "....but I was born this way, accept me and my perversions."

Sorry, LK, but that domino theory just doesn't work.

(pretentious, self-important bloviating nonsense snipped)

Start a discussion about buggery and they WILL come to defend it.

Yep.

I agree with LKmommy - pedophiles seeking sympathy and understanding

I already mentioned polygamy.

Legalized prostitution. It already has a foot in the door in one state. And prostitution brings in enormous revenue. The argument will be you can take out the exploitation of minors, clean it up and make money from it.

I think prostitution will be before polygamy. Definitely, not just because of it having it's foot in the door already. It has more demand and has been glorified plenty in film and there is even the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl (which I thought was outstanding btw) that aired a few years back. Prostitution is way more likely to happen.

It's odd that certain people always jump to the worst possible conclusion concerning questions like this. I think it is just because they buy the lie that pedophilia is linked to homosexuality. Thinking if you accept one means you accept the other is ridiculous.

I am generally in favor of personal freedom of choice, and I would favor legalizing both homosexual and multiple marriages, and marijuana, but I think prostitution should remain illegal.

Why is that? Pornography is legal and I don't see any real difference between the two. It's kind of the same double standard going with tobacco being legal and not marijuana. Either make porn illegal along the same grounds postitution is or have them both be legal.

Yes, I imagine it is disconcerting to find out that Christians don't fit the "holier than thou" mold. We're no better or worse than you. We're just saved by Mashiach.

All of them.

The world will once again become so wicked that God will need to cleanse it again.

I'm so glad I was able to live in this world when there was a time that morals still held a respectable standing.
Future generation are not going to have much left to compare to.

When society breaks down [as in war or civil disruption] the seeds sown in the time of peace will have an horrific harvest.

I'm not advocating, just speculating. Given it has a toe hold and with the associated claims I noted I could see the move. I'm not in favor of it by any means.

Not all pornography is legal. Nor should it be. Nor should we imagine that a photo of someone being murdered is the same as someone being murdered. Pornography is not the same as prostitution, and if it were, then it, too, should be illegal.

The basis for my position is that just because human beings consent to participate in a behavior that harms them, doesn't mean that they are no longer being harmed by that behavior. A prostitute may consent to sexual abuse for money, but the money and the consent do not mitigate away the abuse. Just as a child in a third world country may "consent" to work all day is a sweat shop for starvation wages, but his consent doesn't make it OK to exploit child labor.

Prostitution is sexual exploitation. The fact that the prostitute consents to it does not change the fact that it's still sexual exploitation. And that's why it should remain illegal.

Nice post PureX. I would certainly discuss this in deeper detail with you on a different forum but I don't think this is the place for what I would say, even though I have nothing obscene to say. It just seems the people here are very sensitive towards both "industries" .

I will say this much, from what I know about legal prostitution in the brothels in Nevada, I would say it is less exploitive and denigrating, as well as far more regulated, when it comes to either.

polygamy since bisexuals should be able to marry both of who they love, which will lead of course to that old timey Mormon kind of polygamy.

I wonder how much longer we are all going to be here though after it gets widespread across this whole country.

The homo stuff being everywhere in a country is usually the end of it.

Replying to this nonsense is going to cost me a multitude of brain cells, but I'll humour you anyway.

That would just be common sense now, wouldn't it? Surely we both know that prostitution is never going to cease - so we should at least protect the most vulnerable participants of the practise whether we agree with it or not.
Break the law, suffer the consequences.

If we need to protect anyone in prostitution it is those who are forced into it; primarily by doing our best to keep anyone from ever being so victimized.

What amuses me though is that with your beliefs against prostitution, you're also at odds with yourself by (statistically, at least) being associated with a political entity that only serves to increase disparity which is responsible for so much of these desperate endeavours to trade sex and dignity for currency.
What political entity?

Ar you mistaking me for a Republican?

Surely we're past using reality shows as sources of information?

First off I need to correct myself as I meant polyamory when I said polyandry.

Now, to get to my point, I was not using them as a source of information; I was using their continued existence as a point: mainly that their ratings show them to be accepted by a large percentage of society, and thus I reason their subject matter is then as accepted.

I think (strangely enough) that he was referring to real children, you know... the viable ones with a developed nervous system
So children in the womb are unreal children?

I like how you challenged the veracity of the information by asking the source, you're making progress - but you also went and.... *sigh* why did you have to do that at the end there?
Because I have asked, and been answered.

We know how much you enjoy thought-crimes but it's not a justification against the legalisation of anything, adults buy alcohol for children all the time, it's a stupid and wrong thing to do but it's not a valid argument against it in whole.

I fail to see how you came to the conclusion I was using it as an argument against abortion on the whole.

I simply countered the proclamation that "there are no forced abortions."

And if I wanted to I could point to China; recently the actor Christian Bale presented an award to a Chinese national for their efforts in the fight against forced abortion in China.

Wow. If we want to talk about sexual deviancy... I can point you to a few places you might be familiar with.
Let me know when you get a sense of humor.

You mean imagining PETA people having sex with animals...
Let me know when you get a sense of humor.

I have to disagree. If prostitutes willingly join the profession--at a brothel in Nevada, as a call girl--and are free to leave the profession at any point, it's hard for me to see how they're being exploited.
