ECT The Mystery--What Is It?

Anyone willing to tell us exactly what Paul is referring to when he writes of "THE Mystery" here?:

" Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and (kai) the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith
"(Mt.16:25-27; KJV).

Sir Robert Anderson writes the following about this passage:

"I have rendered the first 'kai' in this sentence by 'even'; for it is certain that the Apostle did not mean to distinguish between the gospel of Christ and a gospel of his own!...the 'mystery' of the Body is a truth for the Christian, whereas here the Apostle's subject is the gospel which was to be 'made known to all the Gentiles' (R.V. marg.)" (Anderson, Misunderstood Texts of the New Testament [Grand Rapids: Kregel Publications, 1991], p.83).

What is THE Mystery found in the gospel which the Lord Jesus Himself gave to Paul?

It's the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory (1 Corinthians 2:6-8 KJV). It's the why of the cross/the why Christ died, as in "for our sins" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV)!

yep!,,,unless we decide to render a great multitude of words differently and then there is the mystery revealed to Paul,(KIA).the mystery of iniquity and then we can deduce it down to who is preaching which by who is changing the words to support their opinion.,,,no cross that out "rendering/rendered",,,two mysteries are at work here it seems,,,,

look at Romans 16:7 KJV for a minute jerryshu they are his kinsmen (family?) and they are fellow prisoners also, they are among the apostles(apostles or dwelling among them?) but,,,,"before me" were they standing in his company(before me) or did they precede him in being "in Christ" ,,we'll need to change these words also if we change the kia,,,,,

What is THE Mystery found in the gospel which the Lord Jesus Himself gave to Paul?

Ephesians 3:2-15

If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things

is one passage that explains the mystery

Paul not speaking in Mt 16.

Body part
The mystery was that the Gentiles could receive salvation through the FALL of Israel instead of the PROPHESIED RISING of Israel.
Rom 11:11-14 KJV I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. (12) Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? (13) For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: (14) If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

Rom 11:25 KJV For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Compare this with prophesy.
Isa 60:1-5 KJV Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. (2) For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. (3) And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. (4) Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. (5) Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
and more:
Isa 60:18-22 KJV Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. (19) The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. (20) Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. (21) Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. (22) A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.
Compare this with Rev 21.
Rev 21:22-27 KJV And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. (23) And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. (24) And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. (25) And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. (26) And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. (27) And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

My own A9D view differs from that somewhat; I'll have to find a means of laying it out in a hundred words or less and in bullet points so it does not go over heir's head :chuckle:

Both Jesus and Paul preached the gospel of the kingdom of God.
Paul did not preach the gospel of the kingdom. He could not have even been forgiven under the doctrine that went along with it!

Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Then what is the mystery of the gospel?:

"And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel" (Eph.6:19).
The mystery of the gospel is that the "you Gentiles" like the Ephesians to whom Paul wrote the letter, who were without hope having nothing to do with Israel in time past were now fellowheirs and of the same Body and partakers of God's promise in Christ by the gospel (Ephesians 3:6 KJV) with Paul (being the first 1 Timothy 1:16 KJV) and those to whom Paul was first sent (Acts 26:17 KJV which in a KJB can be shown to be Jews, proselytes called Jews and Greeks)!
