Glad as an adult I moved to the country. There is nothing like seeing an unfettered sky and clear views of the Milky Way. Spent many hours with my telescope. Most fun is a pair of binoculars and in a zero gravity chair just getting lost in the beauty and seeing meteors streak across the sky. Have seen some impressive bolides in my time.

Good way to put life in perspective.

It's hard to believe we're all on a planet flying around the sun and how perfect everything is for abundant life. Praise God

Fascinating article, thank you exminister. I've seen the Milky Way when in the southwest desert/mountains, but it's been awhile since I've made the drive. The timeless beauty of it... the night sky is a wonder to behold, and yet (even with a restricted view) so often we forget to look up. How good that you have - and make - those opportunities.

I keep a halo diary with pictures. Two years ago I got the full 22 degree display with the "eye in the sky." Every arc! It was the most amazing thing I ever saw (until 2 weeks ago).

I caught a quadruple rainbow with the reflection of it overhead. It was stacked and you could clearly make out all of the banding. I had to count the yellow bands twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

It was incredible.

Psalm 19: 1 The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
2 Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.

Anyone else excited about the solar eclipse on August 21st, 2017? I have been for about 4 years. Have a solar telescope and traveling to a spot where we will be in the path of the total eclipse.

Here are some website with details.

This interactive page you can touch where you live and can see when the eclipse will pass your way and how much the moon will block the sun.

Getting partiality where I will be at work near Seattle. My foil sheet is ready, however, I'm hoping to get pictures of shadows on walls through tree leaves. There's a video of it out there. Each leaf makes a miniature partiality image!

There is no pain when the retina burns, so read all the instructions carefully! DON'T look at partiality. Only look (unassisted) at totality while it lasts.

You will see it before me. In fact I think it has started in Seattle already, the first contact. Looks like it is 91% blocked there. Let me know what you see and avoid looking at it of course. The animals make act strange. Day birds may be disturbed because they think "wait...it's bedtime "
