Hi,

Justification by faith in the shed blood of Christ is common to all views.

The difference is that Christians have received the Holy Spirit to dwell in them as at the first of the 3000 on the day of Pentecost, not necessarily in that order as the account of Cornelius shows.

Whereas MAD claims to have received the Holy Spirit by an act of believing the doctrine of the cross without obeying Acts 2:38, which is the way believers are to receive the Holy Spirit as Paul did and taught.

MADists argue that they have received the Holy Spirit and to prove it they call pentecostalists of Acts ch 2 such things as "unsaved, liars, children of the devil " etc. which of course is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, thus proving themselves to be not Christians at all, that is those who do that.

Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Mat 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

if your basis for spurning MAD is Acts 2:38 - that may be where your stumbling block is. your animosity towards all things Paul taints any wisdom imparted through him, FOR YOU. the verse is delivered to Jews, and Baptism IS Symbolic and Repenting Is Constant, not a One Time Event. - it seems personal - :patrol:

One of the reasons I joined TOL was to learn more about MAD. LA, are you saying that Christians receive the Holy Spirit once they believe and AFTER they are baptized?

The problem is that you actually believe that you can obey Acts 2:38 because you think you have retroactively become part of the house of Israel in the context of Acts 2:36 and are guilty along with them of crucifying their promised Messiah and King. Peter, in Acts 2:38, is specifically demanding a response to this particular rejection and murder by the house of Israel of that time. It has nothing to do with the nations/gentiles.

Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

No. Paul explains the common salvation.

Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

You have defended MAD by saying those who do not believe in your MAD nonsense, do not believe Paul.

the verse is delivered to Jews,

All the apostles delivered acts 2:38 (and that which preceded it) to both Jews and Gentiles, to whomsoever would hear as the keys to the Kingdom of God.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

and Baptism IS Symbolic and Repenting Is Constant, not a One Time Event. - it seems personal - :patrol:

Baptism is both by water and the Spirit testifying to belief in the blood of Christ by the believer.

Paul taught it all and preached the same as did Peter to all who would hear of both Jew and Gentile making no distinction between them who believed.

Act 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
Act 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Like suggesting that once a man falls in love with a woman and understands with certainty that she will never forsake him that he is then free to resume whoring, if he once went about that business.

What man in love would consider it?
