Praise the Lord!

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised.
Psalm 48:1

O LORD, how great are Your works!
Psalm 92:5

Sunday Morning Praise

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, “My God, how great thou art!”

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!

Praise the LORD!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.

Psalm 147:1

Evening Praise the Lord.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.

Psalm 92:1

:poly:

How Good it is to Thank the Lord

How good it is to thank the Lord, and praise to Thee, Most High, accord,
To show Thy love with morning light, and tell Thy faithfulness each night;
Yea, good it is Thy praise to sing, and all our sweetest music bring.

O Lord, with joy my heart expands, before the wonders of Thy hands;
Great works, Jehovah, Thou hast wrought, exceeding deep Thine every thought;
A foolish man knows not their worth, nor he whose mind is of the earth.

When as the grass the wicked grow, when sinners flourish here below,
Then is there endless ruin nigh, but Thou, O Lord, art throned on high;
Thy foes shall fall before Thy might, the wicked shall be put to flight.

Thou, Lord, hast high exalted me with royal strength and dignity;
With Thine anointing I am blest, Thy grace and favor on me rest;
I thus exult o’er all my foes, o’er all that would my cause oppose.

The righteous man shall flourish well, and in the house of God shall dwell;
He shall be like a goodly tree, and all his life shall fruitful be;
For righteous is the Lord and just, He is my Rock, in Him I trust.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 18:2

Praise the Lord!

I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20

:poly:

I Take Thy Promise, Lord

I take Thy promise, Lord, in all its length,
And breadth and fullness, as my daily strength;
Into life’s future fearless I may gaze,
For, Jesus, Thou art with me all the days.
Days may be coming fraught with loss and change,
New scenes surround my life, and faces strange;
I thank Thee that no day can ever break,
Savior, when Thou wilt leave me or forsake.

There may be days of darkness and distress,
When sin has power to tempt, and care to press —
Yet in the darkest day I will not fear,
For, ’mid the shadows, Thou wilt still be near.
Days there may be of joy, and deep delight,
When earth seems fairest, and her skies most bright;
Then draw me closer to Thee, lest I rest
Elsewhere, my Savior, than upon Thy breast.

And all the other days that make my life,
Marked by no special joy or grief or strife,
Days filled with quiet duties, trivial care,
Burdens too small for other hearts to share;
Spend Thou those days with me, all shall be Thine —
So shall the darkest hour with glory shine.
Then, when these earthly years have passed away,
Let me be with Thee in the perfect day.

Beautiful post Psalmist! I can always tell when more of me is in control because I think more of me than is good for me. Then, that still small voice says "Are you sure?" And my priorities get back in line! Amen!

Praise the Lord!

Your ears shall hear a word behind you.
Isaiah 30:21

A still small voice.
1 Kings 19:12

:poly:

Listen! There Comes a Whisper
“Give Thy Heart to Me”

Listen! there comes a whisper
Stealing on thine ear:
’Tis the Savior calling,
Soft, soft and clear.

With that voice so gentle,
Dost thou hear Him say?
“Tell Me all thy sorrows;
Come, come away!”

Wouldst thou find a refuge
For thy soul oppressed?
Jesus kindly answers,
“I am thy Rest.”

At the cross of Jesus,
Let thy burden fall;
While He gently whispers,
“I’ll bear it all.”

“Give thy heart to Me,
I gave my life for thee”;
Listen! thy Savior calls:
Come, thou, come!

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

And, behold, there came a voice unto him.
1 Kings 19:13

:poly:

The Sweet Voice

When the roses of youth all their beauty display,
And the world seems as bright as a glad summer day,
When our hearts are as happy as happy can be,
There’s a sweet voice that whispers, “O come unto Me.”

When we gather with friends in the temple of prayer,
And the eye of our Father looks down on us there;
When we mingle our voices with hearts glad and free,
Still the call is repeated, “O come unto Me.”

Let us come in our youth, and as long as we live,
Our affection, our worship, to Jesus we’ll give;
Then, whatever our trials or conflicts may be,
Still that sweet voice will whisper, “O come unto Me.”

When the springtime is over, and summer is past,
When the snowflakes around us are falling at last,
To the spirit how joyful the message will be!
“Come and rest you forever in glory with Me.”

Softly and low, softly and low,
Telling of rest in its love-breathing tones;
Softly and low, softly and low,
Savior, dear Savior, that voice is Thine own.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.
Hebrews 6:19

In Times Like These

In times like these you need a Savior
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these you need the Bible,
In times like these O be not idle;
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these I have a Savior,
In times like these I have an anchor;
I’m very sure, I’m very sure
My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the One;
This Rock is Jesus, the only One!
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

Praise the Lord!

We have as an anchor of the soul.
Hebrews 6:19

They…anchored there.
Mark 6:53

:poly:

We Have An Anchor

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

It is safely moored, ’twill the storm withstand,
For ’tis well secured by the Savior’s hand;
And the cables, passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy that blast, thro’ strength divine.

It will surely hold in the Straits of Fear
When the breakers have told that the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o’erflow.

It will firmly hold in the Floods of Death
When the waters cold chill our latest breath,
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the Veil.

When our eyes behold through the gath’ring night
The city of gold, our harbor bright,
We shall anchor fast by the heav’nly shore,
With the storms all past forevermore.

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.

Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you.
Psalm 55:22

:poly:

Cast Thy Burden on the Lord

Cast thy burden on the Lord,
Wholly lean upon His Word;
Thou wilt soon have cause to bless
His eternal faithfulness.

He sustains thee by His hand,
He enables thee to stand;
Those whom Jesus once hath loved
From His grace are never moved.

Human counsels come to naught;
That shall stand which God hath wrought;
His compassion, love, and power,
Are the same forevermore.

Heav’n and earth may pass away,
God’s free grace shall not decay;
He hath promised to fulfill
All the pleasure of His will.

Jesus, guardian of Thy flock,
Be Thyself our constant rock;
Make us, by Thy powerful hand,
Strong as Zion’s mountain stand.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

But I will trust in You.
Psalm 55:23

:poly:

Lord Jesus, Thou Dost Keep Thy Child

Lord Jesus, Thou dost keep Thy child
Through sunshine or through tempests wild;
Jesus, I trust in Thee:
Thine is such wondrous pow’r to save;
Thine is the mighty love that gave
Its all on Calvary.

O glorious Savior, Thee I praise;
To Thee my new glad song I raise,
And tell of what Thou art.
Thy grace is boundless in its store;
Thy face of love shines evermore,
Thou givest me Thy heart.

Upon Thy promises I stand,
Trusting in Thee: Thine own right hand
Doth keep and comfort me;
My soul doth triumph in Thy Word;
Thine, Thine be all the praise, dear Lord,
As Thine the victory.

Love perfecteth what it begins;
Thy power doth save me from my sins;
Thy grace upholdeth me.
This life of trust, how glad, how sweet;
My need and Thy great fullness meet,
And I have all in Thee.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You,
because he trusts in You.

Praise the Lord!

Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

:poly:

Be Still My Soul

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the sun of life divine
Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

It shall be one day
Which is known to the LORD.

Zechariah 14:7

:poly:

Some Day

Beams of Heaven, as I go, through this wilderness below,
Guide my feet in peaceful ways, turn my midnights into days;
When in the darkness I would grope, faith always sees a star of hope,
And soon from all life’s grief and danger, I shall be free some day.

Oftentimes my sky is clear, joy abounds without a tear,
Though a day so bright begun, clouds may hide tomorrow’s sun;
There’ll be a day that’s always bright, a day that never yields to night,
And in its light the streets of glory I shall behold some day.

Harder yet may be the fight, right may often yield to might,
Wickedness awhile may reign, Satan’s cause may seem to gain,
There is a God that rules above, with hand of power and heart of love,
If I am right, He’ll fight my battle, I shall have peace some day.

Burdens now may crush me down, disappointments all around,
Troubles speak in mournful sigh, sorrow through a tear stained eye;
There is a world where no mourning soul shall roam its plains,
And to that land of peace and glory I want to go some day.

I do not know how long ’twill be, but I shall be free some day.
Nor what the future holds for me, I shall behold some day.
But this I know, if Jesus leads me, I shall have peace some day.
I shall get home some day, I want to go some day.

Praise the Lord!

…you do not understand now, but you will know after this.
John 13:7

:poly:

We’ll Understand it Better By and By

We are tossed and driv’n on the restless sea of time;
Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine;
In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away,
We will understand it better by and by.

We are often destitute of the things that life demands,
Want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands;
We are trusting in the Lord, and according to God’s Word,
We will understand it better by and by.

Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand
All the ways that God could lead us to that blessed promised land;
But He guides us with His eye, and we’ll follow till we die,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.

Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares,
And our hearts are made to bleed for a thoughtless word or deed;
And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best,
But we’ll understand it better by and by.

By and by, when the morning comes,
When the saints of God are gathered home,
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.

Praise the Lord!

Behold, I tell you a mystery.
1 Corinthians 15:51
The secret things belong to the LORD our God,
but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever,
that we may do all the words of this law.

Deuteronomy 29:29
To Him who alone does great wonders, for His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 136:4

:poly:

God Moves in a Mysterious Way

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err
And search His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

Sunday Morning Praise

Sing to the Lord, the Rock of Our Salvation

Sing to the Lord, the rock of our salvation!
Sing to the Lord a song of joy and praise!
Kneel in His presence, lowly in thanksgiving!
The lofty psalm upraise!

The land and sea are His, for He has made them,
The valleys of the earth, its rugged hills;
Corn-land and vineyards and the olive orchards,
All these His mercy fills.

And we, His people, sheep of His own pasture,
Lambs of His bosom, whom His hand has fed,
Shall we not hearken to our kindly shepherd
By whom our feet are led?

Oh, harden not your hearts, like those who wandered
The desert forty years to Jordan’s strand;
Humble and comforted, O chosen people,
Enter the promised land.

Songs of Thankfulness and Praise

Songs of thankfulness and praise, Jesus, Lord, to Thee we raise,
Manifested by the star to the sages from afar;
Branch of royal David’s stem in Thy birth at Bethlehem;
Anthems be to Thee addressed, God in man made manifest.

Manifest at Jordan’s stream, Prophet, Priest, and King supreme;
And at Cana, wedding guest, in Thy Godhead manifest;
Manifest in power divine, changing water into wine;
Anthems be to Thee addressed, God in man made manifest.

Manifest in making whole palsied limbs and fainting soul;
Manifest in valiant fight, quelling all the devil’s might;
Manifest in gracious will, ever bringing good from ill;
Anthems be to Thee addressed, God in man made manifest.

Sun and moon shall darkened be, stars shall fall, the heavens shall flee,
Christ will then like lightning shine, all will see His glorious sign:
All will then the trumpet hear, all will see the Judge appear;
Thou by all wilt be confessed, God in man made manifest.

Grant us grace to see Thee, Lord, mirrored in Thy holy Word;
May we imitate Thee now, and be pure, as pure art Thou;
That we like to Thee may be at Thy great Epiphany;
And may praise Thee, ever blest, God in man made manifest.

Praise the Lord!

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful
.
Psalm 1:1

Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil.
Proverbs 4:14

:poly:

No Compromise

No compromise with evil shall be our battle cry,
For God and right must conquer, and sin and wrong must die;
Unflinching we are standing, uncompromisingly,
Beneath the flag of holiness forever we will be.

No compromise with error, for Bible truth we stand,
Let none remove the landmarks erected by God’s hand.
With loyalty our watchword and faith in Christ our stay,
We’ll bravely storm the forts of sin and thro’ Him win the day.

No compromise with worldliness, no yielding to the wrong,
No lowering the standard that’s stood thro’ ages long;
With Jesus as our leader, His Spirit as our guide,
We’ll firmly stand for righteousness whatever may betide.

No compromise, no compromise,
This shall be our battle cry, no compromise!
For God and right we will boldly fight,
We'll firmly stand, we'll keep the standard high.
