f (x) = (25x)^(1/2)-15
f (x) = 5(x)^1/2 -15
f '(x) = (5/2)(x)^(-1/2)
f '(3) = (5/2)(3)^(-1/2)
f '(3) = 1.443

OR

lim h->0 ((5(x+h)^(1/2)-15)-5(x)^(1/2)+15)/h
lim h->0 (5(x+h)^(1/2)-5(x)^(1/2))/h * (5(x+h)^(1/2)+5(x)^(1/2))/(5(x+h)^(1/2)+5(x)^(1/2))
lim h->0 (25x+25h-25x)/(h(5(x+h)^(1/2)+5(x)^(1/2))
lim h->0 (25)/(5(x+h)^(1/2)+5(x)^(1/2))

= 25/(10(x)^1/2)
= 25/(~17.321)
= 1.443

But your ways easier :D

Sorry, I haven't been around. I wasn't hyding. I had to go see my doctor. Dr. J.E. Kyll. TOL seems like the Internet version of the Old Wild West. Why are there many abortion, gay, and creation/evolution threads? :idunno:

I see you used the formal definition of a derivative. Impressive! :bow:

Greetings Pie! Did you know that the WWJD fish is actually the most accurate visual representation of Pi? Most people think its just a fish but it's reallyp art of two circles. Anyways, welcome! useless bit of trivia hehe.

Because the people here are split on those issues, many pro choice people as well as fundamental people. Though abortion is something agreed upon for the most part.

Some people are stupid and don't know right from wrong.

Like I've always said, nothing draws folks into a forum like a math thread. No siree...

That aside, who doesn't like pi? I'm sure you'll be a happy addition around here and don't mind me, I've been surly since my Fun With Sentence Diagramming thread was met with a grave like silence.

Welcome. :e4e:
