Another thing the right does is create terms to hide irrational sentiment behind, like virtue signalling, which is a way to dismiss the possibility of actual virtue by assuming it's a lapel pin, shallow, look at me motivation. It's a lot like PC the way they tend to use it. A judgement before and mostly in lieu of the argument to establish its validity...the sort of thing that can be used to make racism look like a defense of tradition.

Italy is evicting Steve Bannon from the medieval monastery he planned to turn into a far-right training academy

The Italian government has delivered a potentially fatal blow to Steve Bannon’s plans to transform a medieval monastery near Rome into a training academy for the far-right.

Italy’s cultural heritage ministry announced on Friday (May 31) that it would revoke a lease granted to Bannon after reports of fraud in the competitive tender process. The former Breitbart chief and aide to US president Donald Trump was reportedly paying €100,000 ($110,000) per year to rent the 13th Century Carthusian monastery, but now will have to search for another spot.

The Italian state allowed the conservative Catholic organization Dignitatis Humanae Institute (DHI) to use the building early last year. Bannon happens to be a trustee of the institute, and planned to convert the space into a “gladiator school for cultural warriors,” where students would learn philosophy, theology, history, and economics, and receive political training from the former Trump aide himself.

But earlier this month, Italian newspaper Repubblica reported that a letter used to guarantee the lease was forged. The letter had the signature of an employee of Danish bank Jyske, but the bank said that employee hadn’t worked there for years, and called the letter fraudulent.

The Economist reported last week that Benjamin Harnwell, the director of the institute, was surprised by the revelation. Bannon, meanwhile, claimed the letter was “totally legitimate.”

“All of this stuff is just dust being kicked up by the left,” Bannon said at the time. . . .

This is only the latest hurdle that Bannon is facing in his attempt to help the far-right grow its reach in Europe. His funding of extremist parties ended before it even started last year, after the Guardian revealed that foreign donations, like the ones the millionaire was planning to make, would break electoral laws in a dozen European countries.

Everything is The Onion these days...

Hillary Clinton won the popular vote........

So what. That's not how you win elections. That's like a football team saying, "Well you got more touchdowns but we ran more yards." LOL. Who gives a crap. Wake up and learn how elections work.

Man that childish crap is getting old

Actually, you have that backwards, since the EC has largely given geography more power than the people.

LOL. Who gives a crap.
A little over half the electorate, for starters.

Wake up and learn how elections work.
And how they sometimes don't.

I've often thought that it will never change. The impetus for it, always comes from the loser. As such, no standing president is ever going to see it as unjust. Addressing it will always be weaker than the desire for it?

Reality bites, doesn't it?

What this guy said is reality. You are just too cowardly to own it:

So, on the one side you have Democrats: Now the murderers of full grown babies after birth, admitted socialists, the promoters of perversions like transgenderism and gay marriage, suppressors of free speech on college campuses, and everything else bad with America.

Then you have Trump, a snarky tweeter to be sure, but a man who has given us the lowest unemployment numbers in 50 years, now up to 3.2 GDP which Obama said was impossible, bringing manufacturing jobs back to America, and was even voted Pro Life person of the year by Operation Rescue.

And we have buffoon and a fool who started this thread who prefers the former and wants to impeach the latter.

Is there any more clear example of blind hate and ignorance, and Trump Derangement Syndrome than that?

Now, back to the real circus:

Trump condemned for ‘unacceptable interference’ after praising Boris Johnson’s bid to be PM

Exclusive: Politicians from all sides unite to condemn ‘narcissistic and egocentric’ US president ahead of three-day state visit to UK

Senior politicians from all of the main parties have warned Donald Trump against “distasteful interference” in British politics during an already controversial state visit this week, with the Tory leadership race and future Brexit policy hanging in the balance.

Mr Trump was accused by party leaders and MPs past and present of breaking a longstanding convention by praising Boris Johnson, claiming he would make an “excellent” prime minister, ahead of a three-day trip to the UK which begins on Monday.

Speaking to The Independent, Sir Malcolm Rifkind, a Tory former foreign secretary, said the comments by the “narcissistic and egocentric” Mr Trump were “unprecedented for a president of the United States”.

Jeremy Corbyn and Sir Vince Cable also condemned the remarks, and one MP suggested the Queen should rescind Mr Trump’s invitation to a state banquet on Tuesday night.

It is highly unusual for a sitting US president to comment on a UK political election, although Mr Trump has previously drawn fire over his vocal support for Brexit and his criticism of Theresa May.
