LOL!!!!! Just because you take the easiest path with the least amount of resistance, doesn't mean you have to ruin it for people who believe in individual freedom.

My personal situation isn't rare or unique. There are consequences to erecting barriers between people, and they really impact people. Most likely, the consequences will be small in the long run, and I'm not opposed in principle to every partition, but I would still recommend a bit of caution. If you have to cross three checkpoints to get across town, you might start feeling less free rather than more.

40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.

So the referendum has been called for June 23

My instincts are that as usual the British will do whatever the media tells them to do so it will prolly be 2 to 1 in favour of staying in.

.....which is why the whole of Europe is in various degrees of shock, horror, anger, enmity and even fear. Even that nice Mr Farage was preparing to concede defeat before the results really started flowing.

BUT

But you never do know, if per chance the vote was to leave it would mean the break up of the UK for sure.
...for sure.
Scotland will get a referendum within six months, I reckon, and the vote for independence will be a landslide. It'll be interesting to see how Scottish nationality will be decided on either side of the border. Birth Cert, Property Deeds, Length of residence, Jobs etc could all determine nationality either way, and maybe joint nationality might be allowed in some cases?

Northern Ireland is going to be the problem. Catholics are already suggesting stronger ties with Eire, but Protestants will get fired up over that.

David Cameron will go down in our history as the PM who caused the break-up and the Brexit when he did not need to even bother. That picture of his wife looking at him during his speech just said it all.

Rocketman nailed it.

No he didn't, Americans for such a HUGE country, are so peculiarly inward looking....there are things you don't seem to see. Look I don't lie when I say I love Americans, I am not a "damn the Yanks" merchant.

But you should stop and consider that the 2008 crash was a Capitalist crash as was the Wall St. crash last century, and all the financial squeezes and freezes that happens in between all come from the banks.

Take for example the credit crunch of G.W.Bush. People were not borrowing money for things they didn.t need but for the things totally necessary for society to carry on, homes, health, education for the kids etc.

By what actually is a modest redistribution of the tax system poorer people can be helped along with these things. People are NOT born equal, people who get ahead, who are able to get ahead ought to help lift the rest of their people with them....it makes sense politically.....if the state doesn't do it then crooked financiers will do it.....the mafia will do it.

America has no social cohesion, your society could so easily just splinter and fall apart.

Socialism in Europe came from THE CHURCH, it didn't come from Russia, didn't you never hear of
Good King Wenseslas? he was a real King.

The Labour party of Britain was formed by a combination of the Methodists, the Anglicans and the workers, Unions.

Yeah, that's the ticket probably Obama's fault.

The margin was so narrow, 52 to 48 per cent, but that is deceptive. Obama is very popular in Britain, we had him warning us that we would be at the back of the queue, we had every single government leaders, the banks, the bosses, the IMF along with every single other financial institution frightening the life out of us.

We had 3 former Prime Ministers, 4 ex Chancellors. They threatened the workers, they threatened the students they threatened even to cut the pensions.

It was enough to make your hair stand on end...they threatened that war would break out.

But STILL the English people voted OUT.

This is the great irony

It was a vote against corporate business, but the campaign was run by the ultra conservatives in the main, but it was the workers who rejected the EU.

....now we have got to get rid of the Tories....but Labour are out of touch and took the wrong side, they are not fit for government.

Merkel has been one among several leaders of the EU bringing Muslims into Europe by the tens of thousands, with no say so from the citizens who are ordered to make room and adapt themselves to Mohammedans who have NO INTEREST in assimilation into European culture, but view it as corrupt and unholy and so want to replace it with their own. Look up Paul Weston and Pat Condell if anyone doubts this.

Now, relevant to this thread, the point is that many Brits cited this specific EU insanity as their biggest reason (but not the only reason) for voting Leave. And oddly, maybe tellingly, the powerful Remain movement seems to have barely mentioned immigration...almost as if it didn't want to help remind voters of the issue. Instead, Remain focused almost exclusively on threats of economic damage to Britain as the reason not to leave.

It didn't work. The Brits didn't buy it and voted Out, indicating that something bigger than economics was scaring them.

Fair assessment, DR?

You have no idea what you're talking about.
