No. Not the taxpayers.

I can see a case to be made where childless couples looking for babies to adopt might pick up the tab, but I doubt it will be affordable to many. We are talking about 9 months worth of presumably specialist care, after all. Will many insurance companies be willing to amortize that? Will there be enough of these couples to meet the demand?
Good points. This probably will be a very expensive process which would mean that many women and girls will still choose abortion. It does, however eliminate one more pro-abort argument against the recriminalization of abortion which is the ectopic pregnancy argument.

Actually, the main point to this technology is that since an embryo could develop all the way to maturity in this artificial environment, it will prove that viability begins with conception and when that happens, the legal and philosophical basis behind the Roe v. Wade decision will be completely undermined.

Not necessarily. After all, some abortions happen spontaneously because the foetus is just not viable. Mistakes do happen in meiosis, you know.

But I fear that if you got your way, then whole new vistas of misery are likely to open up for millions of unwilling mothers and their unfortunate offspring, carried to term. I doubt the churchs will be picking up the slack.

Wrong. If the government imposed the death penalty for abortion murders, the vast majority of the sluts in this country would start keeping their knees together.
