It is also sometimes said to be a corruption of 'business', but there's no evidence to support that either."
Take your pick then, but we here in the UK tend to regard the QI TV show as the ultimate authority. :)

Funny that you don't highlight the part that says there's no evidence for the 'business' connection. No one uses the phrase in reference to business. :plain:
