Maybe you were missing the point of the passage. Remarriage after divorce while either spouse is still alive is considered adultery. This man committed adultery in his heart, ending his first marriage, and external adultery by remarrying.

Just to expound on what I already said. Furthermore, if one does so they continue to live in adultery, so the little technicality does not help him. He would still deserve the DP, right?

"Usually"?

Theo, your answer will not be very reassuring to the "unusual" victim. :)

How about you just answer the question?

What do we do with the pardoned repentant murderer that goes on to murder again?

So on a technicality he gets off? What happened to eliminating the arbitrary nature of the DP?
It's not a technicality. Laws cannot be justly enforced retroactively (ex post facto).

Theo, do you think it would be right for a judge to imprison an abortionist in a state where abortion is not illegal?

If abortion were outlawed in this nation today, would it be just for the government to round up and imprison abortionists for the abortions they performed prior to the enactment of the new law?

There is no mention of divorce in the passage you cited, theo.

And as I've already explained, it is sinful to commit adultery or murder in your heart, but it is not criminal. And you agree with this: You believe that murderers should be imprisoned, yet you do not believe that people who only commit murder in their heart should be imprisoned.

If our country doesnt have the DP in some states, then it would not be right to execute someone in those states? Right? It would be unjust.
Of course! However it would be right and good for those states to change their laws to prescribe capital punishment for crimes such as murder, rape, etc. Christians should support such changes in our laws, and identify bans on the death penalty as corrupt and profaning of God.

How about you answer my question:

Does this person deserve the DP?

He was divorced once, had problems with lust (committing adultery in his heart), then remarried while his wife was still alive (making it adultery), got divorced again, then recieved a misdemenor for beating a child.

But this man definately knew this was wrong. This man is very familiar with Christianity and knows God's laws inside and out. So, does he deserve the DP?

No. He did not commit a capital crime. (I already answered this.)

No. He did not commit a capital crime.

So adultery is not a capital crime? What are you talking about?!?!?

He divorced his wife, got remarried while his wife was still alive (notice the Romans passage does not say that divorce is an exception to this rule) got divorced again. Committed adultery in his heart and externally against his wife. He looked at pornography while married. Is that not adultery?

NEWSFLASH! Adultery is not currently a capital crime in the United States.

(I would fully support a change in U.S. law making adultery a capital crime from now on, and you should too.)

(notice the Romans passage does not say that divorce is an exception to this rule)
The passage in Romans was merely setting up an illustration about what it means to be "dead to the law." Divorce was not relevant to Paul's analogy.

He divorced his wife, got remarried while his wife was still alive... got divorced again. Committed adultery in his heart and externally against his wife. He looked at pornography while married. Is that not adultery?
No, not in a criminal sense. Even if this was done in Israel 3000 years ago, it would not have been criminal. How many times do I have to say it?

Theo, this really shouldn't be a hard concept for you to grasp considering that you believe murderers should be punished by the government, but that those who merely commit murder in their hearts should not.

 It seems like you misunderstood the very foundation of Turbo's position.

He isn't advocating the death penalty as is it enforced today, he supports it as it should be enforced. Not only that, but he doesn't support vigilantism, he supports law changes to have convicted murderers be put to death quickly and painfully after trial.

(Turbo, if I misrepresent you, feel free to change that)

So..this isnt what I am asking. Jeesh. Will you actually read what I write? I asked you again and restated my question. I am so sick of you. I asked does he deserve the DP?

You are being a pain.

When did I ever say that? Holy crap. Read what I write. Do you have a reading disability?

From your round 5 post:
theo_victis said:
TurboQ49: Theo, you advocate imprisonment as punishment for murder. Do you therefore, based on Christ's words, advocate imprisonment for becoming angry at someone without cause?

We cannot judge whether or not someone was angry without cause. I do not know the hearts of men. But I would advocate forgiveness and mercy before condemnation and judgment for someone who was guilty of this.

Are you now suggesting that those who merely commit murder within their hearts should be imprisoned just like those who actually physically commit murder?

Wow. I think you should take a little break there, theo. Insults and being rude aren't going to help you justify your need to be right...
Actually, that's never going to happen, cause you're just wrong, but aside from that minor fact, insulting Turbo just makes you seem like a dim bulb. And kind of makes me mad.

No... I am stating that they deserve it.

Look at the scenario again:

This man got divorced with his first wife admittedly because he was looking at pornography (committing adultery, not only in his heart but in actuality). He admittedly moved in with another woman without being married (violating his first marriage). He then married that woman only after abusing her child and going to jail for it. He then got divorced with her. He most likely lusts after other women to this day (violating both marriages, making him an adulter). He committed adultery in almost every manner that is biblically described. Does he deserve the DP?

I said he is a pain and that I am sick of him. Where are the insults? You are silly.

Theo, is there a particular reason for you bringing Bob Enyart into the discussion? And are you familiar with his own thoughts/acknowledgement of his past sins?

Why don't you call pastor Enyart on his radio show and ask him yourself? My guess would be that Bob would agree with you!

Call Bob Enyart live weekdays from 5-5:30pm ET at 1-800-8Enyart
