Total nonsense. They knew about the sacrificial lamb that takes away the sins of the world (the world). They became afraid of it through fear of the zealots and went into denial. Jn 6:66.

Mr.one thought at a time (JohnW) thinks he has me cornered about Lk 18's (they did not know) because he won't even read the next phrase: they were afraid to ask about it. It was a deliberate anti-knowing. They knew and were afraid to ask. They couldn't believe the whole thing--the Messiah campaign--was actually going that direction.

D'ism is at its most ignorant here because Lk 24 is nothing new. Lk 24 is restating what the OT had always said but Judaism had snowed. 24:21 is the knockout. D'ism does not have a clue what is going on there, nor Heb 11-13, which is in a letter called Hebrews but may very well have meant simply those who believe (Gal 3:29).

Nope.

For John's understanding would rightly have been that of an Israelite under the Law.

His understanding would rightly have been in accordance with the Law and the Prophets.

That of...

Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

That of...

Luke 7:12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 7:14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 7:15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. 7:16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. 7:17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about. 7:18 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. 7:19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 7:20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 7:21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 7:22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. 7:23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Body part
THey heard John,
they heard Jesus say 2:20.
They heard him teach Is 61.
They knew Is 53, Ps 22-24, Dan 9.
John 20:9 (AKJV/PCE)
(20:9) For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

You can fight against the scripture all that you want.... you just can't understand it.

Therefore the Lk 18 passage has more color to it than you realize. It means they were in denial and scared spitless because they did know what it meant.
The BIBLE does NOT says that they were in denial... that is your fairy tale.

You have no understanding of human nature either, and no historical knowledge. Makes your Bible a set of flat tires.
Your ignorance is curable.
