I'll be glad to answer---as soon as you show us from the Catechism that your friend's claims are actually taught by the Catholic Church. Still waiting for your proof on this.

You tell me pal. Although, I don't really expect you to tell the truth. You'll just try your best to hide what you know is going on in your church.

There's no Scripture that says we must pray to Mary.
There's no Scripture that says we must pray to saints.
There's no Scripture that states we must worship idols.
There's no Scripture that speaks about purgatory or limbo.
There's no Scripture that speaks about having to be water baptized
as a baby. Especially, according to the Grace Gospel of today.
There's no Scripture that states we must have a Pope.

Your church believes Peter was the first Pope. That's not true.
The true church of today is the Body of Christ. However, your
church doesn't preach the Grace Gospel that was given to the
Apostle Paul by the ascended Lord Jesus Christ.

Without hearing the true Gospel, how do you expect your parishioners
to become a member of the Body of Christ? You're on the horns of a
true dilemma.

The Catholic church is not set up to lead its parishioners to the true Gospel during this Dispensation of Grace. There's too much false doctrine in the mix. The church has overdosed its followers with false doctrine. Too many unnecessary twists and turns involved! Having a Pope sitting on a throne isn't of any value to your church. Priests and Nuns are forced to not marry. Nothing in the Scriptures states that those in authority cannot marry. Peter was married and you consider him to be your first Pope? Why can't your Pope be married as well? There's plenty of trouble in your church regarding your Priests. A whole lot of negative attention if you know what I mean? Your church has created an abundance of man-made laws and rules the Parishioners and the authority figures MUST follow or suffer excommunication.

In truth, Jesus gives us the best example of how we ought to pray in

Matthew 6:9-13 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

King James Version (KJV)

I'm sure Christ gave us this prayer as an outline of how we're to approach God in prayer. He was speaking to the lost sheep of the House of Israel of coarse, however, I believe both Jew and Gentile can abide by this prayer format.

There's nothing in the Scriptures that speak of purgatory or Limbo either. Also, in Luke 16:19-31 it states: "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

King James Version (KJV)

I believe this "holding place" for the unsaved is where they go after leaving this world. They stay there until they are brought before God the Father at the Great White Throne Judgment. Where they will be judged according to their works and subsequently cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity. The Lake of Fire is where Satan and his fallen angels will be cast as well. I recommend you read the last few chapters of Revelation to see what goes on at that judgement. Notice, in that account there's no mention of purgatory or Limbo? There was Abrahams Bosom where the saved were and Hades where the unsaved were being kept until judgement day. When the True Believer leaves this world today, he/she directly goes to be with the Lord in Heaven and the unsaved go to Hades.
