The latest measures announced today are going to be difficult for a lot of people, from a mental and physical health perspective. How the proposals for the 'at risk' groups are going to be met in terms of medicines/supplies etc for those that are under effective three month quarantine remains to be seen. If the social distancing legislation isn't met overall then we're in for a total lockdown sometime soon and that's probably more likely than not. I appreciate it's not too bad for you and your wife from a social perspective but it will have immense impact for many and as you say, enforced home restriction negates any sort of healthy outdoor exercise.

I'm somewhat dubious where it comes to China so will reserve further comment.

Our community association has delivered neighbourhood-care leaflets to all, so that we can post our contact details to any nearby properties where we know that elderly, infirm or at-risk folks live, offering to collect medicines, prescriptions, food etc etc for them.

Yes, China may have closed it's gates to information..... could be. I just take news at face value for the moment. But, of course, a slowing of the sickness in China would be about the only positive news....... :)

What will you do to keep you occupied if in isolation? I will solar-reflective paint the roofs, masonry paint the walls, review my book manuscript, study chess moves, watch films, play with hounds, caste some jewelry..... stuff like that. My wife is in to gemstones and home decor etc so the place could benefit from all this.

All I know is that he tested positive for the virus. I'm not aware that he has evidenced any symptoms of the illness yet.

Time will tell.
Some people just cruise through it.
If he's younger and fitter then that should be the case.

Hi there..... :)
Well..... OK, but to me a sick person is just a sick person.
Obviously, by 'sick' I mean ill. :)

It's for God (or fate) to decide.......

Indeed ... though I tend to have more concern for the innocent. His actions and those in his party were gleeful about gutting healthcare.

That's a good step to take and I hope many other areas follow suit. Realistically there'll be many places where it doesn't reach unfortunately.

With regards to China - nothing much to add...

Watching films definitely and you're into chess? Used to play a lot myself. Shall we have an online game?

:D

I just saw that Sen. Rand Paul has tested positive for the coronavirus. This is the same Rand Paul who held up coronavirus legislation just a few days ago: https://www.courier-journal.com/stor...te/5057191002/

You could learn a lesson from that. Some people like Rand Paul put the good of their country first instead of thinking how the country can benefit them, like the greedy leftists who want free this and free that.

Rand Paul will be okay, and everyone will be okay, and you will be mocked for years to come for being scared

Oh please get a grip. You are embarrassingly ignorant of the effects of this virus and it really is time you got acquainted with just how much of an impact this is having on people by now.

I read that they stripped out President Obama's work as soon as they could.
I just cannot figure out who would have voted for such as them.
That kind of mindset is not about community or care.

Buy I wouldn't want to bring sickness down on anybody, that's all.

Not necessarily or at least not a given.

Yes. True.
This sickness casts to left and right as it goes.

I haven't had a McDonald's meal in years, but this morning I'm going to see if I can get a breakfast wrap drive-through meal before the 1300 outlets close later today. I missed a last drink at the local last Friday, and need to make up for that. :)

Fair enough.

I'd have to cheat........ I really do need to study the game in much more detail. Computers just annihilate my pieces.

Rand Paul will be okay,
If he is under 60yrs and reasonably fit, then 'yes, he'll probably be OK.

and everyone will be okay,
That's just an example of total ignorance.
The % mortality rate of patients in Italy is 8%.... that's thousands dead.
America will experience something like that, but through a much larger population.

Did you ever get any qualifications when you left school?

and you will be mocked for years to come for being scared
A person who cannot be scared is a very dim bulb, you know.
Great generals know when to retreat.

Yes, that was their mission. Destroy Obama regardless of how many people were hurt.

Buy I wouldn't want to bring sickness down on anybody, that's all.

That’s exactly what trump and his GOP stooges wanted ... to make America sick again. They have succeeded. They own this virus.

This sickness should do quite a lot to burn the lesson of 'caring for all' in to the hearts and minds of the majority.
Let us hope so, anyway.

Wow!
Well, I think that their dismissal of its seriousness is owned by them.
And that dismissal disarmed America of common sense defences that should have been prepared much earlier.
As the days and weeks go by, the stupid denialists will forget what they said and wrote before, but everybody needs to remember who they were and how they caused millions to relax when they should have been waking up to this threat.

Nobody should forget how President Trump initially reacted.

It should. I hope so, but am not optimistic.

It’s all about priorities. The priority should be the health and welfare of ALL Americans. That is not trump’s priority. He was warned months ahead of time and is only reacting out of the fear of not being re-elected.

Also, I have my own suspicions about how this outbreak started or more importantly, who was targeted. However, that’s off topic for this thread ...
