TOL upgrades....

It looks like we will be forced to upgrade TOL to it's own dedicated server.

This change could happen any time within the next few days to the next few weeks.

Hopefully, there will be little to no downtime.

Please be patient if your experience any troubles during our move.

You mean (gulp) there might actually be times when I can't access TOL? :::gasp:::

Ok, nobody panic. So I might have to go a full hour without truthsmacking? Ok, no problem. I mean it's not like we're talking a whole day or something, is it? IS IT !!??

::::poly heads for the insane thread:::

Wait, that's a good thing right? Your not planning on using Mac OS X Server v10.3, are you? ;)

Its a great thing... assuming we can pull it off.

Money and labor will be required,

If it happens.... it will be thanks in large part to Becky and Lion.

We would have.... about 50 times the hard disk space and 4 times the bandwidth limit not to mention we would probably see a dramatic increase in speed since it would be our own server and we wouldn't be sharing the processor with a about 1000 other customers.

Yea... pretty much. I wouldn't see any reason we would need to prune posts - at least for a couple years anyway. :D

:knight: does that mean we can attatch larger photos to out posts?

It does suck to resize a picture so small that you can no longer tell what it is.

How can I throw this in for humor value? The url gives it away :(

Don't even tease me, man!
Get me drooling all over my keyboard.
What's today?
The 17th.
I could easily get 20,000 posts in before the New Year.
We gonna have the room before then?

Yea... I suppose we could increase the attachment size a little.

Although....
We don't want to make it miserable for those who still use dial up. Not to mention there is always the prblem of page formatting that can get messed up with large image attachments.
