Stripe actually believed ExxonMobile when they said that there was no warming on the way. As you know, they were actually planning operations with procedures to compensate for warming.

He still doesn't realize that they were lying to him.

14 is the new 15

In March 1988, a few months before NASA's James Hansen asserted before the Congress that global warming was in progress, the New York Times quoted him as saying that he used 59 degrees Fahrenheit as the average global temperature to calculate the temperature variations.

Significantly, Mann used 15 degrees Celsius as the baseline temperature while calculating the parameters of the annual temperature cycle (see Figure 2 in his paper). Although he could have picked any value in the cycle, he picked 15 degrees Celsius, and it is reasonable to assume that he did so because it was the accepted long-term global average temperature.

15 degrees did not fit the narrative and since it's not science they changed it to 14 degrees

In literature published after the 1997 report by Worldwatch Institute, the leaders of the global warming movement seem to have started using 14 degrees Celsius for the global average temperature. In 2002, the Sydney Morning Herald quoted James Hansen, who mentioned this new average.

The IPCC too now uses 14 degrees Celsius as its base temperature, as can be seen from a graph that is part of its 2007 document.

Because the dope who wrote this foolishness doesn't understand the most basic principles of mathematics, he doesn't realize that changing the base temperature will have exactly zero effect on the shape of the curve.

He's probably the dumbest denier out there. And he managed to fool someone. :chuckle:

he was too excited to take advantage of the opportunity to laugh at someone

what a waste

remember what Knight thought about him?

The Barbarian is a jerk who has posted on TOL for years and when he makes a database wasting post he exposes himself to possible banishment. Heck it wouldn't hurt my feeling at all to permanently ban him.

Essentially I'm just looking for reasons to ban folks like Barbarian because he's done the same thing on TOL for probably 10 years or so. It's just a waste of effort.

It's fascinating to see you say this, knowing you've spent more of your time here laughing at people than anyone else.

remember what Knight thought about him?

Remember how Knight regretted his past attitude?

And just to be clear....

I take full blame for the direction TOL has taken. I was as guilty as anyone at being a first class jerk on the forum. And as a admin and owner... naturally people followed the tone.

I blame no one but myself.

But now.... it's time to take a new direction.

And why was that account or accounts perma-banned?

Why did you feel the need to "burn" your previous accounts?

So he can try to maintain the lie that he hasn't been the most banned poster in total on this forum? He overstepped the mark and in bonkers fashion where it came to TH. Challenged him to prove his lawyer credentials on pain of the loser permanently having to leave TOL. As was obvious, TH's credentials in that respect were verified, AMR stepping in to support that and he still trolled about after having lost his own bet, not that TH would have wanted to see it enforced anyway. If it wasn't for the forum change in rules he'd still be obsessing over TH most likely. Even he knew he had to let that one go.
