Trump wants to be impeached, although he won't come right out & say it. Why ? He knows the Senate would find him "not guilty" & it'd blow up in the Dems' faces. Pelosi knows this as well & that's why she won't outright call for the House to impeach him.

We see how the Senate goes in their vote on Clinton's case in 1998. Clearly, he lied to Congress about Monica & Paula Jones. Evidence of sexual dalliance with Monica was COMPELLING, as was the evidence he lied to Congress about it, but the Senate acquitted him anyway.

It'd take 67 senators voting "guilty" to convict, & both Trump & Pelosi know there'd be nowhere near that number voting so if Trump is impeached.

If there was evidence anywhere near as compelling as there was against Clinton, Pelosi would be screaming to high heaven for impeachment !

The key fact with the Clinton impeachment was that a large majority of Americans were against impeachment. It seems that they thought lying about an episode of oral sex wasn't a good reason to remove him. Go figure.

While the public has given Trump a similar pass for lying about numerous cases of sexual misconduct, they are less forgiving about him soliciting the help of foreign powers to intervene in American elections. After that was revealed, a majority of Americans want him impeached and removed from office.

For some reason, they think that crime is a greater concern than lying about sex. Again, go figure.

Trump WANTS to be impeached!

The President's phone call to the Ukraine which led to the impeachment investigation came the day after Mueller testified before Congress - the timing alone speaks volumes!

Most politicians would have refrained from such a reckless course of action, especially if they had just narrowly escaped from an investigation of their links with the Russians - obviously this President considers himself to be above the laws that apply to the rest of us!
