Donald Trump has become dangerously unhinged.

I thought he was an unfit wacko from the start. Does he have to alienate everybody? The only voters who had any kind of sensible reason for voting for him were those who wanted the USA to avoid being more a welfare state and rich people who did not understand, or were unwilling to understand, how toxic this man would be to our nation.

Now his trade wars are hurting the investments of the foolish wealthy persons who did vote for him, as well those who knew better but failed to support someone who cared about our economy. The trade issue, all of it, is a foolish endeavor, there is no such thing as a trade deficit! What we have is more people in the USA wishing to buy goods made in China, than we have Chinese desiring to buy goods made in the USA. This is an individual choice on our part to buy goods sold for less; it is not some kind of unfair trade policy.

I did not vote for this jerk!! I did not vote for Clinton; I did not vote for either presidential candidate. Donald Trump is the worst president we had in recent history! Looking at the economy and growth in jobs and consumption, and all Republican government should be a windfall of good fortune for wealthy persons who are invested in the market, and it should have been able to stay strong until 2020, and perhaps beyond.

Now, with the trade war, we just might lose our gains made since the election, which was not Trump's doing; it was the idea of a full Republican government and its pro-business sentiment, which boosted the stock market, not Donald Trump!

The only people who had any reason to vote for this jerk are those who really believe labour will return to the USA and those who want to stop people of color from increasing in number in the USA.

No one I know who is wealthy thinks this way, or cares much about racialism. All that is past and only poor ignorant bigots think in terms of race. What some well-to-do persons care about is those who come as immigrants and are poor, needing government support, increasing the welfare, or nanny state.

I do declare that for once in a lifetime, I hope the democrats do win the mid-term elections and then, are able to limit Donald trump's tariffs by acts of Congress. I hope they eventually run him out of office!

He is unfit for office and never was. He's alienated many allies of America, he makes a clown of himself on social media and after the Helsinki debacle...

The WH currently has a child in office.

You'd prefer a corrupt professional politician like hillary?

Or an inept, inexperienced, unqualified affirmative action candidate like bammy?

I think the economy would not have gone up as much with her, but it would have been more stable in the long term.

Obama was president when the market was mostly rising; he did not mess with business, other than the health plan, which is inevitable, we will not have private enterprise managing healthcare, and soon we will have a government sponsored national healthcare programme.

Private enterprise is not willing to be responsible for all citizens healthcare. It is real and what I am saying WILL BE, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT, OR NOT!

With Bush messing us up in a Iraq war, we did not need, and causing more debt, I doubt you will see a Republican president after 2020, in the next ten to sixteen years! They blew it with their weird ideas and electing Trump. The party should have done what I recommended, which was elect a moderate conservative, like John Kasich, not a loose cannon. I would have liked to see Rand Paul as president, but he only represents the most wealthy and was not as electable as Kasich. Kasich would have moved the country away from the PC of liberalism, and not have messed with the AHCA; however he would have been as much for business, and reducing corporate taxes, keeping us competitive, yet he would have never fought with ourselves ( the global economic community) and tried to place tariffs on China, Europe, Mexico, and Canada, in other words he would have not acted nuts! Paul would have given us the same tax breaks without tariffs. Trump has a core group, but they are no longer the wealthy persons who considered him a better risk, how wrong they were! If one cares about corporate America, one does not like Trump.

I think your reasons on politics are silly and unrealistic.

ya lost me

It figures, you are lost when it comes to political thought. What you care about is, "get them gays, the environmentalists, those hippie type liberals" You only have a social focus and not a very astute one. You have no real stake in the economy, so, that issue does not bother you.

You are not much of a reader, I presume?

I was all done posting here, but the utter ignorance displayed in this thread just got to me. Obama left business alone? What a laughable assertion which can only be based upon ignorance or bias.

And the only reason foreigners didn't buy US products was only personal choice? LOL. You call an additional 25% onto the price of US goods in other countries because of the tariffs they levied on US products as meaning nothing? Really? If you go shopping for a $400 product an additional $100 in price means nothing to you? WIsh I had that kind of money to throw around. And if you go shopping for $24,000 car an added $6000 means nothing??? While here in the US the tariffs were non-existent or no more than 2.5%. You're either a moron in finances or your hatred of Trump so blinds you that reality means nothing,

Bill Clinton started off with a liberal posture, then when congress went Republican Bill was for work-fare and reduced our national debt more than any recent president. People only seem o remember his indiscretions of sexual affairs.

H W Bush was a good President, he did the best job with the Gulf War. He lost on a split ticket and his failure to not raise taxes.

Obama was rather a loser, going so far on PC issues, but what did he really do for blacks? This seems a mystery?

Bill Clinton was much better than Trump and H W Bush was better, so, only Obama was less in ways, yet he did not attempt to interfere with business, and trade.

Trump is by far the worst!

You are the one who is laughable. Obama was not such a good president and I have said that. He did offer too much to appease other nations, yet he did not create all you think he did. Perhaps you might read some more balanced news reports?

Some countries have tariffs, true, but the real issue was the high tax rate on corporations in the USA. This was one good thing Trump did, and now he is throwing all that away by raising fishtails in everyone, and everyone is us!

We do business in a global economy, not a national economy. I see it every day for many years, when China is market down, we are usually market down. Trump does not understand much about international business, and the Republicans in congress act like helpless dupes. It stinks!

The rest of what you said is baloney!

The reason you say you cannot afford is because you lack the skills to be able to afford, and then you tell me the score!?

It figures, you are lost when it comes to political thought.

it depends - i rarely follow the day by day of modern politics, but i've read virtually all of churchill's writings, many other authors on the pre and post ww1 period, and the colonial period, especially the french and indian wars

all of kissingers works, too

On China :thumb::thumb:
A World Restored: Metternich, Castlereagh and the Problems of Peace 1812-1822 - hard to recommend

the What you care about is, "get them gays, the environmentalists, those hippie type liberals"

not sure i've ever said much about environmentalists, as for fags and hippies, they're emblematic of the decay of our society/culture and the widespread acceptance of things that were recognized as undesirable for centuries, such as extra-marital sex, divorce, adultery, abortion, homosexuality

You only have a social focus

not true

and not a very astute one.

:idunno:

most of my interest here has to do with racial matters

You have no real stake in the economy,

not sure what leads you to say that :idunno:

so, that issue does not bother you.

not enough to talk about it here, no

i do have a pet interest in issues of energy, especially petroleum - a carryover from my days as a Chem E.

You are not much of a reader, I presume?

i've read a book or two: http://theologyonline.com/showthread.php?120486-Books!&highlight=

and that's not counting the hundreds of pounds of textbooks lining my shelves

There is no trade deficit! We all part of one big global economy and free trade means trade by supply and demand. We have more wealth per individual, so we buy more, and they buy less. Trump is a big phony on this:

If we had less wealth than these 'unfair' countries, they might call us the creator of a trade deficit. So, be wealthy, than that nation can claim a trade deficit? Now that makes a lot of sense!
