Were The Nazis Left Wing?

Well, obviously they weren't........

You are a stone cold liar.

Hitler was a socialist. He gave speeches about spreading socialism. He practiced socialism.

Yes, Virginia: Hitler really was a socialist

For those of you looking for the Cliff's Notes version, here is the answer: Yes, Hitler and the Nazis were socialists, for the simple reasons that they were staunchly anti-capitalist and believed that the means of production in their society should be controlled by a centralized state power. That is very clear from their writings, their words and their actions. Done and done.

Oh goody, you're back.

I'm not lying at all. History puts the Nazis on the far right and that's where they're rightfully placed as all credible, non wingnut sources put them. Ironically it's only folk on the far right who try to warp history into one of their own making. There was nothing "liberal" about them.

You called Rusha a baby-killer?
Wash your mouth out.

TG's "reasoning" is along the lines that Rusha wants Trump out in the next election and a democrat in office. TG seems to be under some delusion that all democrats are pro abort and all republicans are pro life which is ridiculous. The republicans aren't going to change the laws to any great extent on the subject and to be fair, neither are the democrats, not anytime soon anyway. So Rusha's stance is completely justifiable and for someone to call her a baby killer only shows how utterly dishonest they are.

Nazis put themselves on the far right, btw. They identified themselves as such. And Neo-Nazis proudly announced their support for Trump in 2016.

And yet still we have folk on the far right here who want to deny it. Understandable in some ways as I'm sure they don't advocate genocide for the most part but some of them do call for the execution of homosexuals.

Were The Nazis Left Wing?

Neither Mussolini nor Hitler were known for their prowess as great political and economic thinkers so their brand of 20thC fascism was never based on a well defined philosophical rationale or ideology!

Both are based on an authoritarian form of populism whereby the primary loyalty of its adherents was to a cult-like leader, as opposed to a deeper belief in a well-defined ideology that can be located on the conventional political spectrum!

The origins of National Socialism were quasi-military associations of WW1 veterans who were predisposed to follow an authoritarian leader and who harbored many grievances, real and imagined, as to why Germany lost the war!

The arch-nemesis of National Socialism, even from its initial stages, was the Communist Party and both battled in the streets of Germany for the political control of that nation prior to Hitler assuming power!

In addition to Italy, Nazi Germany also made political alliances with Japan and the USSR - which were on opposite extremes of the political spectrum!

National Socialism also had a strong racial component which also complicates matters - did Hitler invade the USSR tor "living space because like the Jews, he considered the Slavs racially inferior, was he opposed to communism as an ideology or, in all likelihood, was it a combination of both?

14 CHARACTERISTICS OF FASCISM
  1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
  2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
  3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
  4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
  5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
  6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
  7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
  8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
  9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
  10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .
  11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
  12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
  13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
  14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

CHARACTERISTICS THAT FASCISM AND COMMUNISM HAVE IN COMMON

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause

4. Supremacy of the Military

6. Controlled Mass Media

7. Obsession with National Security

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption

14. Fraudulent Elections

CHARACTERISTICS THAT FASCISM AND COMMUNISM DON'T HAVE IN COMMON

1.
Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - prior to WW2, communist leaders in the USSR attempted to erase the nationalism of individual Russian states and stress that this was an ideology that transcended national boundaries

5. Rampant Sexism - although communism has remained "sexist" at the higher levels of power, women were theoretically considered equals and were allowed to enter professions that had been traditionally restricted to males

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - communists were confirmed atheists who rejected the concept of God, fascists were quasi-religious who may not have practiced Christian ideals but recognized that it was an integral part of most people's lives

9. Corporate Power is Protected - while the fascists controlled the economy, they didn't nationalize the means of production and allowed citizens to retain their farms and private property
- the communists not only nationalized all means of production and private property, they also persecuted, jailed and/or executed former "capitalists"

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - National Socialism was never "socialist" and eliminated unions with the promise of full employment for all as the trade-off
- in theory, labor unions were the foundation of any communist system, but those with independent ideas that didn't conform to strict communist ideology were replaced

Apparently this type of intentional lying has been mistaken as a constructive strategy for forum building. She has been warned about this before. FTR, I do not consider TG to be prolife but rather an example of why abortion is still rampant in our society.
