Could Dogs detect Covid-19?

Huh? *wipes specs*
Why..... so you are.......... it's just that you spout such similar junk...... very confusing.

That's right.......... you're the Protestant Christian who thinks that he can decide who is or is not a Christian. Yep. Got it.

LOL

And, what are you doing, here, if not "deciding who" (namely, 7djengo7) is a Christian?

I'm the Deist who thinks you're a right wing extremist....... that's the trouble with you tribalists, you all wear the same colours.

I do not call anybody "Deist", inasmuch as "Deist" is, so far as I can tell, meaningless. So, of course, you won't find me saying, "eider is a Deist", or "You are a Deist". What I know is that you're not a Christian--that you're a non-Christian--and that you're an errorist (and a rather run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter errorist, at that).

Whatever..............
I am Eider, the non buddhist, non Muslim, non Zoroastrian, non Hindu, non Christian, non Mormon, non Sikh.......... just a Deist.

"Deist"? What (if anything) do you imagine you mean by that? What makes you call yourself, "a Deist"?

Oh, hi there Mr. Grumbles. ;)

Begging for more attention, eh?

Nah- it's just that I sometimes get so annoyed at your stupid obnoxious behavior that I lash out. It's a waste of virtual ink, but so it goes.
You seem fairly intelligent. Why do you waste you brain on such absurd nastiness?

Probably my most "stupid obnoxious behavior" is my question-asking regarding epistemology. I've many times asked people to teach me (what, I would think, should seem fundamental, elementary) things--like what is supposed to be the nature of fact, and what is supposed to be the nature of evidence, and other things--and my questioning really angers them. They never want to "go there". Then, to try to hide the lameness of their Achilles heal that is exposed by my questioning, they usually bring up how much older they are than me, and they start trying to dig at me for anything they might feel they could use to set up some ad hominem against me.

Your epistemological questions are most often simple semantic issues, easily dealt with by looking in a dictionary. You may not have noticed this, but we are not in a philosophers conference here. The usual common use of terms suffices for normal daily discussion. You are using whatever knowledge of philosophy you have as a crude tool to berate people you disagree with. Is this what you think philosophy is for?

Get studying! Off you go and find out. Individual Investigation works wonders!
I don't flog Deism on Christian forums...... that's proselytizing.

Moving forward...... :)
Results are coming in from France........

https://www.connexionfrance.com/Fre...-succeed-in-sniffing-out-Covid-19-coronavirus

Tests conducted with trained German Shepherds at a veterinary school in Maisons-Alfort (Val-de-Marne) show a 95% success rate in sniffing out the coronavirus that causes Covid-19.

Weeks of trails have produced positive results at veterinary school and research centre l'École Nationale Vétérinaire in Maisons-Alfort, where researchers say their German Shepherds have been trained to detect coronavirus.

During the trial, the dogs had to identify the presence of the virus by smelling sweat samples taken from subjects who were infected with Covid-19.

The school partnered with hospital Beaujon de Clichy to collect sweat samples from both infected and non-infected subjects. The sweat samples were then used to soak pieces of cotton wool which were placed inside metal cones.

Say what?!
I don't have to deal with any of this foolishness, and you don't have to support every foolish thing you see posted here just because the author agrees with you.

If you're not going to engage the debate then stop talking about how easy it would all be to refute.

Put up or shut up.

Imaging a world in which you have to have a dog's permission to enter a store, restaurant or other public establishment.

Do these dogs ever give false indications? Yes!

Can you tell by looking at these dogs what it is they're trained to detect? No!

This Wuhan Virus outbreak is the biggest leap forward for left wing, command and control, big government socialism that the world has seen since the eugenics craze in the early 20th century. It too was aimed at wiping out, or at least reducing, disease and was sold as a public health issue. (Ironically, it's the same sort of people who supported manipulation of the human gene pool who now act as if genetically modified corn is something to be scared of.)

Every time something scary happens we loose large chunks of our freedom to the point now where it seems our liberty, what of it there is left, might literally be going to the dogs.

So, back to the debate:

Dogs are used to check for explosives and drugs. Maybe it will work for this virus- it's worth checking.
Infected people aren't criminals- but they are dangerous to everybody around them. So we need to identify them. It's true that this cuts into personal freedom, but so do many other things that are accepted in free societies. Even a traffic light limits me. In this case, the balance is tipped heavily towards curtailing personal freedom. It's unfortunate, but that's the case.

And it is called COVID-19. Calling it the "Wuhan" virus is a xenophobic attempt to lay the blame for 100,000 American deaths on the Chinese.

Hi.........
Yes, dogs can be life-savers in many ways. They are being used to identify Parkinson's, some cancers and malaria, humans in building collapses, humans hiding in aircraft undercarriages and lorries........ all of these jobs saving lives. And of course you have mentioned explosives, various drugs...... and more.

If Covid-dogs can help to open up retail, travel, services, commerce and industry more quickly then President Trump will embrace their value.......... and then mindless sheep like Clete will accept them immediately, I expect, and within no time will be telling us that his President thought of the idea. :chuckle:
