Cute, but the CCP left out the part where they "disappeared" the doctors and journalists who were the first to raise alarm about the coronavirus.

True.

These communists dictatorships have always had a problem with local officials being under a lot of pressure to report good results. I'm remembering how the local officials in Russia used to report great grain harvests, but in reality they were starving, and needed to import wheat from the capitalists overseas.

So I see this as another example of local party officials being reluctant to admit what was really going on, and putting on a face of business as usual. Until it got out of hand and started spreading. Some local officials lost their jobs as a result.
