I used to change air filters at a hospital, worked for an HVAC company who contracted the hospital's HVAC work, and those HEPA filters were a whole other world. Those filter changing days were back in the 80s and even then it was a scary proposition to change the filters because of all the bugs trapped in them. To be safe even then you had to basically dress for hazmat and the bugs now are far deadlier. Hospitals are breeding grounds for super bugs.

no doubt you have heard about the US carrier with coronavirus on board.....
I am surprised that we haven't heard more about air-con probs with this virus.

The BBC reports that President Trump has suggested that people use scarfs to cover their faces, and your CDC is reviewing its advice about face masks by suggesting a new design.

The CDC and other medical professionals were saying for the citizens not to wear masks and that it won't help.

They instructed us on that lie, but Trump didn't instruct us on that lie.

He said to use a scarf if we have to if we want.

He's also suggested and actually pretty much flatly stated that America is going to be in for a very tough time the next few weeks...

The biggest threat with this virus is its contagious aspect. You're not going to catch it breathing in the air on a walk so a scarf isn't going to help any not that it would help if it was infectious. A mask might help in as much as you don't touch your nose or mouth after coming into something contaminated but that's about it. Even then you'll need to wash after you've taken it off, same with the scarf.

Face masks only work in case of infectious contamination if they have air filters, right?

A mask helps those who have the disease not spread it to others, and wearing a mask will help not get it. Even a scarf is better than nothing.

Yes, I expect so......
But churches are still holding services with packed congregations in some States, and so many people are still in denial...............

Leadership messages from February and early March could well influence the peak of this pandemic in a few western countries.

We knew that face-masks are safer back in February, because they reduce the instances of hand to face touching.
The World Health Organisation is now reviewing it's ideas about face masks because of new information about how far the virus 'pods' can travel in air.

Did you see ffreeloader 's post where he explains his work as an Air-Con specialist and his concerns about virus transmission? Have you noticed the many outbreaks in cruise liners and now a US aircraft carrier?

Have you seen the infection-rate graphs for Western Countries and compared these to the Korean graph? There may be many differences but I do notice that everybody in Korea is seen wearing face-masks, and most of these are not air-filtrated. Yestyerday in the Tesco queue about 60% of the shoppers wore face masks or scarfs.

The scientists and medical professionals know they got exposed about their mask lie; and, a lot more masks are being made now, so they want you to buy them.
