Bernie Sanders Is About to Become President

Bernie Sanders has won the popular vote in Iowa (albeit marginally losing the delegate count). He won New Hampshire outright. And he is projected to win Nevada by 20 points or more. Before Nevada, polling consistently showed him neck and neck with Joe Biden. With the momentum from his three state winning streak, he's probably going to win South Carolina as well.

If he wins all four states, an overwhelming Super Tuesday victory is almost assured. And if that happens, it's game over. Bernie Sanders is going to become the democratic nominee.

Nate Silver has Bernie Sanders at a 47% chance to win the democratic nomination outright.

Donald Trump's days in office are numbered.

For you Trumpists who don't remember why Donald Trump won in 2016, let me remind you. He didn't win because he played to the Republican base. If anything, he went against Republican orthodoxy. He promised universal healthcare coverage. Once he got in office, he raised the idea of just putting everyone on Medicare (his cabinet quickly talked him out of that). He promised that he wouldn't cut social security, medicare and Medicaid. He promised a trillion dollar infrastructure bill. He promised to end the disastrous trade deals (read outsourcing bills) that have hollowed out the middle of the country. He promised to end the disastrous regime change wars overseas.

Donald Trump won because he won the Rust Belt by a slim margin by getting former two times Obama voters to vote for him.

And he has broken almost every single promise that he made.

When Bernie Sanders campaigns in the Rust Belt, he is going to promise those out of work coal minors and factory workers medicare for all, a federal job guarantee, a $15 minimum wage. And he's going to be tougher on trade than Donald Trump is.

Donald Trump won because he ran as a populist and promised Rust Belt voters hope and change. Hillary Clinton did not.

He is going to get crushed by an actual populist.

Those out of work coal miners and factory workers voted for hope and change in 2008. They voted for it again in 2016. And they'll do it again in 2020.

Donald Trump is probably going to win the hardcore Republican states. I don't doubt that. But he's going to lose the Rust Belt. He'll probably even lose Texas. And he'll lose the race.

For you Trumpists who don't remember why Donald Trump won in 2016, let me remind you.

I made a thread on why Trump won--or, more to the point, why Hillary Clinton lost. I am interested to know your thoughts on that topic. Here's a link: Hillary Clinton can't rewrite history, but she'll try

He promised a trillion dollar infrastructure bill...And he has broken almost every single promise that he made.

Yes, Trump lied bigly during the 2016 campaign, especially about "rebuilding America's infrastructure." It is badly needed and would have been great if he kept to that promise, but since he is an obvious fraud it didn't happen. Expect Trump to roll out this lie again as he attempts to get reelected in November.

Welcome back Traditio !

Ran across this the other day going over some old threads and bookmarked it for a welcome back for you :)

Hey Trad,

I think you made an interesting and valid point in the original post and throughout the thread. I think some of the responses were probably overreactions to the point you were making.

I see you've admitted some racist tendencies. I know you struggle with certain things, including aspergers, so I'm sure it can be hard. Even so, Anna is right and it is clearly a place for improvement and something you ought to work at. Despite our own advantages and disadvantages, we are all quite small before Christ. We stand at the bottom of a mountain to be climbed; perhaps the Mexican is a bit shorter than you, perhaps someone without aspergers is a bit taller. Either way, it doesn't make a big difference in light of the mountain, and Christ loved the least most.

I admire your intellect and your utter honesty, but your racism is a disappointment. Be at peace, keep looking at yourself clearly, keep your nose to the grindstone and your eyes on the Lord. I have great hope for you. :)

You have my prayers, pray for me as well,
-zip

As Sanders Rises, Democrats Panic About Losing House Majority
https://bongino.com/as-sanders-rises-democrats-panic-about-losing-house-majority/

Republicans are working on their strategy to retake the house in November, which will focus on zeroing in on districts carried by President Trump in 2016 that voted for Democrats in 2018. The National Republican Congressional Committee specifically is targeting 31 Democrats running in Trump districts, among others.
The GOP lost 40 seats in 2018, and needs to win 18 back to regain control.

And thanks to Bernie Sanders, that could be easier done than said.

According to Rollcall: Even before Sanders won the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, as expected, and came in a close second in the Iowa delegate tally to Pete Buttigieg, there were Democrats saying that nominating the senator from Vermont could threaten their House majority. They feared having the self-proclaimed democratic socialist at the top of the ticket could complicate efforts to win over the independents and moderate Republicans they need to win reelection.

“If it becomes a race between socialism and capitalism, yes, absolutely,” the majority is in danger, Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips said. Phillips has endorsed his home-state senator, Amy Klobuchar, who finished third in New Hampshire. Republicans were eager to tie vulnerable Democrats to Sanders. On Wednesday, the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC aligned with House GOP leadership, highlighted a report from The Hill in which Reps. Elaine Luria of Virginia and Haley Stevens of Michigan said they would support the eventual nominee, Sanders included.

Its virtually impossible to beat a sitting POTUS in a strong economy

Besides, Bernie's 107 years old.

This is a talking point that right wingers love to repeat, but it's not true. The Trump economy looks a lot like the Obama economy. The simple fact is that the GDP and the stock market aren't good indicators of how average workers are actually doing. Only about half of Americans even have stock, and the vast majority of the stock is held by a relative handful of people.

The unemployment rate is a better indicator, but not by much. As Trump himself admitted on the campaign trail in 2016, the official unemployment numbers underestimate the actual unemployment rate, and even then, that doesn't take into account the underemployment rate.

Roughly half of all wage earners earn $30k per year or less. Most Americans would be bankrupted by a $500 emergency. Collectively, Americans owe $1.5 trillion dollars in student loans. A million Americans go bankrupt every year because of medical bills. And welfare? Let's talk about welfare. There is a huge number of Americans who are a part of what is called "the working poor." They have jobs. But they don't make enough to live on. So they have to rely on food stamps and other government handouts.

Also, you know that something like 25%-50% of HOMELESS people HAVE JOBS, right? They just don't make enough money to put a roof over their heads.

And you realize that wages have been stagnant since the mid 1960s, right? We haven't had a truly "strong economy" in 40+ years.

We've had an incredibly weak economy where we've seen massive increases in productivity...almost of all of the gains of which have gone to the top 1%. CEOs and billionaires are doing wonderfully. Meanwhile the average American is up to his eyeballs in debt.

The capitalist class is doing very well for itself. Meanwhile, the working class is being crushed under heel.

I'm sure that Trump is wonderfully popular in whatever right wing bubble you live in.

But unemployed factory workers and coal miners in the rust belt are just as addicted to meth and heroine and dying from diseases of despair under Trump as they were under Obama.

They still want hope and change.

And Bernie Sanders is going to bring it.

Also, don't get things mixed up.

Donald Trump isn't popular. He's president because his opponent was more unpopular than he was.

Bernie Sanders is the most popular senator in the country. He has a 60+% approval rating.

The sole reason Trump is president right now is because the DNC rigged the election against Bernie Sanders in 2016.

Further point. Don't take my word for it. Take Donald Trump's word for it.

Behind closed doors, he's PANICKING over the prospect of actually having to run a campaign against Bernie Sanders.

He thanked his lucky stars when Hillary Clinton picked Tim Kaine, and not Bernie Sanders, as VP.

"That would have been tougher. I got like 20% of his supporters in the general. His whole thing is that we're getting screwed on trade, and he's right. I'm worse than he is."

"Cancelling student debt. That's rough."

Well, there is one vote for destroying jobs, making us energy dependent again, infanticide, socialism, tax payer money to illegal aliens, men allowed in my bathroom, and massive taxes.

1. Donald Trump's tax cuts for his billionaire friends didn't create jobs. They used that money to do stock buy backs. Not to employ more people. 'You know who is actually going to create jobs? Bernie Sanders. Between the federal job guarantee and the Green New Deal he is going to utterly destroy gig economy and give millions of people stable, full time, good paying jobs.

2. Scientists are telling us that we have until 2030 to curtail our carbon emissions or there is going to be irreparable damage to the planet. Also, Trump hasn't made us energy independent. That's why he sent US soldiers, without congressional approval, to guard Saudi Arabian oil fields. The US is just as beholden to a muslim theocracy as it has been for 40+ years now. You know who is going to make us energy independent? Bernie Sanders. With the Green New Deal, he is going to get us completely off of fossil fuels (and, thus, cut off our dependence on middle eastern muslim theocracies) and create millions of good paying jobs.

3. Abortion is not a living political issue. Learn to read polls.

4. Yeah, calling Bernie Sanders a socialist is totally going to bring down his approval rating. They've been doing it for years, and it's TOTALLY hurt him. #sarcasm

The 1980s called and they want their cold war rhetoric back. Bernie Sanders is the most popular senator in the country, and if you go issue by issue, the American public agrees with him on almost every issue. Learn to read a poll.

5. Medicare for all net saves money. It is projected to save anywhere from 2 trillion to 12 trillion dollars over the course of a 10 year period. The most recent study shows it saving 4.5 trillion dollars over 10 years. Why? Because it gets rid of 400 billion dollars of administrative costs every year and the 100 billion dollars in greedy profiteering that health insurance companies make every year.

The US pays twice as much per capita as EVERY OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRY on healthcare. The US pays much more than EVERY OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRY on prescription drugs.

Bernie Sanders is going to bring us in line with every other developed country on earth and massively bring down the cost of healthcare. Even if there are some illegal immigrants who end up getting healthcare, you'll still end up with way more money in your pocket at the end of the year.

Unless you particularly wealthy, which I'm willing to bet you not.

6. You know who is in favor of allowing men in dresses into your restrooms? Donald Trump. "Transgender people can use whatever bathroom they want in Trump hotels." You think Donald Trump cares about social issues? Behind closed doors, Donald Trump laughs at Mike Pence over his religiosity and his concern over social issues.

7. Bernie Sanders' economic policies are actually going to result in average workers having more money, not less money, in their pockets at the end of the year.

You know who is going to pay massive taxes? Billionaires.

You know who SHOULD pay massive taxes? Billionaires.

You know who shouldn't even exist? Billionaires.

Bernie Sanders is going tax billionaires out of existence. He is going to take a hammer to monopolies and big banks and BREAK THEM UP. And he is going to throw fossil fuels CEOS in jail.

  • Improved vetting and screening for refugees, and switched focus to overseas resettlement.
  • Begun BUILDING THE WALL. Republicans want STRONG BORDERS and NO CRIME. Democrats want OPEN BORDERS which equals MASSIVE CRIME.

A horror story.

Sorry, but even taxing all the richest people in the world wouldn't solve our money problems.

Also, I'd rather work for a billionaire than for someone who has very little money.

You make it sound like billionaires are the problem here, yet completely ignore places like Venezuela which are utterly socialist and NO billionaires and their nation is completely collapsing while ours is getting along well, if not thriving.

I think you are right about Trad's tangent on billionaires, although I think most of the rest of Trad's post to which you are replying checks out. However, it is not right or fair to compare the so-called "socialism" of Venezuela (or Cuba) to the democratic socialism of Bernie Sanders. Venezuela is a corrupt dictatorship, and Maduro (along with Chavez before him) hoarded some of Venezuela's wealth for himself and his family. That is not what Bernie Sanders advocates, as you must well know.

So far as I'm aware, this is the form of democratic socialism that Bernie Sanders advocates: "The idea of social democracy is now used to describe a society the economy of which is predominantly capitalist, but where the state acts to regulate the economy in the general interest, provides welfare services outside of it and attempts to alter the distribution of income and wealth in the name of social justice." -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_democracy

That is such a false statement, with so much data out there to contradict it, that I can safely call it a LIE.

Obama engaged in massive taxes and massive regulation, he had the highest corporate tax rates in the world, he starved the energy sector, and the tiny bit of anemic growth he had was despite him, not because of him.

Trump has freed business from the yoke of regulation, brought tax rates back to competitive levels, and has made us energy independent for the firs time in decades. For the first time in decades we are a new energy exporter not an importer.

Trump reached GDP at one point of 4% which Obama said was impossible. Trump has brought back the jobs that Obama said were never coming back.

Trumps policies are the exact opposite of Obama's and now we have the lowest unemployment in 50 years.

You should be ashamed of yourself posting such lies.

AND NOW COMES SANDERS who would be a catastrophic disaster with his borderline communism. He will destroy all the good things accomplished under Trump. Only an absolute retarded tool would vote for that insane Communist.

Thank God it won't happen. If Sanders is nominated Trump will destroy him, absolutely, and I will be here the day after the election to rub it all up in your face.
