What Rules are we following ?
The basic marks by which the true church is known are these: doctrine of the gospel is preached therein; maintenance of the administration of the sacraments instituted by Christ; church discipline is exercised in punishing sin.

Obviously, TOL is not a church.

In fact, folks sitting around in coffee shops praying, studying the Bible, posting on internet theology discussion sites, etc., all the while not assembling corporately per these basic three marks, are not "doing church". Rather, they are all in rebellion against the visible vestiges of the Bride of Our Lord. And when you run across one of these "I do not go to church" types, it is almost a certainty you will encounter a person stagnant of all manner of error. Oh, beloved, they will offer up all manner of reasons for their demurring attendance and covenanting with a local church, citing how all have been overtaken by the Deceiver, not "pure" enough, the church age has ended, and so on. Underlying each and every one of their otiose reasons is but inherent pride that they know more, are illuminated more, than the rest. Is there no wonder that such folks will run from submitting themselves to God's ordained servants?

Given that church is a mistranslated word that means something totally different than we think it is... I find this thread curious.
