Forgive me if this was discussed anywhere else but I went to "thedenverchannel" website as linked on the most recent kgov site and saw something that might be a cause for confusion.

On the website it states:

"The amendment would define life as beginning at the time a woman’s egg is fertilized".

But in the video it says:

"...at the point of conception."

On the American Right to Life Action website it says:

"...which includes from the moment of fertilization..."

Recently I attended a local church where Dr. David Menton, Answers In Genesis, gave his presentation titled "Fearfully and Wodnerfully Made" (which can be viewed for free by clicking here).

Although not in the video, but in his actual lecture, he compared an older medical dictionary to a recent one and showed how the word "conception" had been redefined.

My questions are:

(1) Could the use of conception by the media and fertilization by pro-life groups be a point of confusion at some time in the future?

(2) If the medical dictionaries are written again and re-define what is meant by fertilization, what effect could that have?

Just wondering.

I think that's one of the goals of the pro-aborts, to confuse the issue.

(2) If the medical dictionaries are written again and re-define what is meant by fertilization, what effect could that have?

They already redefined the definition of conception but in order to redefine "fertilization" they would have to invent another word that describes it. I don't see them getting away with that but I'm sure they'll give it their best shot. If they succeed, then sure, it could make personhood legislation ineffective.

Plan B is not an abortifacient (according to the Center for Inquiry).

To elaborate on my previous post I wanted to submit this paper as evidence that pro-aborts will continue to redefine in order to confuse the issue.

Beginning on page 7 but concentrated on page 9 the claim is made that Plan B is not an abortifacient even though "it may prevent...implantation of the blastocyst" but then it goes on to describe that a blasocyst is a fertilized egg in which cell differentiation has begun. But...because "pregnant" has been redefined...preventing the implantation of a fertilized egg is not an abortion. Again...it is because of a re-defining of vocabulary to confuse people.

I am on the email list for the center for inquiry and receive their updates. The following is the email I received asking me to support an end to abstinence education because "poor people" keep having babies they can't take care of.

Over $1.5 billion has been wasted on abstinence-only-until-marriage sex education programs. In his 2009 Fiscal Year budget request, President Bush has asked for an additional $141 million in abstinence-only education. Not only have these programs proven ineffective, but often times by disseminating medically inaccurate information our nation's young people are harmed. Did you know one in four young women in the U.S. has a sexually transmitted disease today. Its time for REAL sex education in our schools. Congressional reports found no evidence that abstinence-only programs increased rates of sexual abstinence.
Congress needs to stop wasting federal dollars on ineffective programs and start funding programs that actually work! Tell your members of Congress that enough is enough! Write your member asking them to stop funding abstinence-only education and to start funding comprehensive sex education!
