Praise the Lord!

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Luke 12:27

:poly:

Consider the Lilies

Consider the lilies how stately they grow!
They toil not, they spin not, no seed do they sow;
Yet they bloom all the summer, so shining and tall,
The Father who loves them takes thought for them all.

Consider the ravens who gives them their food?
Who shelters their nest in the storm beaten wood?
Who guides the young sparrow? who watches its fall?
Their Father in Heaven takes heed for them all.

Our Father in Heaven, Thy children on earth
Than lilies or ravens Thou holdest more worth:
O guide us and guard us, be near when we call,
Uphold us, enfold us we thank Thee for all!

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

:poly:

The Things Which are Behind

Leave behind earth’s empty pleasure,
Fleeting hope and changeful love;
Leave its soon-corroding treasure;
There are better things above.

Leave, oh, leave thy fond aspirings,
Bid thy restless heart be still;
Cease, oh cease, thy vain desirings,
Only seek thy Father’s will.

Leave behind thy faithless sorrow,
And thine every anxious care;
He who only knows the morrow
Can for thee its burden bear.

Leave behind the doubting spirit,
And thy crushing load of sin;
By thy mighty Saviour’s merit,
Life eternal thou shalt win.

Leave the darkness gathering o’er thee,
Leave the shadow-land behind;
Realms of glory lie before thee;
Enter in, and welcome find.

Praise the Lord!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

:poly:

Each Step I Take

Each step I take my Savior goes before me,
And with His loving hand He leads the way,
And with each breath I whisper “I adore Thee;”
Oh, what joy to walk with Him each day.

I trust in God, no matter come what may,
For life eternal in His hand,
He holds the key that opens up the way,
That will lead me to the promised land.

Each step I take I know that He will guide me;
To higher ground He ever leads me on.
Until some day the last step will be taken.
Each step I take just leads me closer home.

Who is he who will devote himself to be close to Me?
Jeremiah 30:21

:poly:

Draw Me Closer, Lord, To Thee

Draw me closer, Lord, to Thee,
Fold me in Thy love’s embrace,
And unto my soul reveal
All the riches of Thy grace.

Draw me closer, Lord, to Thee;
In Thy arms Thy child enfold,
And this earthly heart of mine
Into Thine own image mold.

Draw me closer, Lord, to Thee,
In communion rich and sweet,
Till my soul shall be refined,
And in Thee be made complete.

Draw me closer, Lord, to Thee,
For my longing soul aspires
To discover in Thyself
All it yearns for and desires.

Draw me closer, closer, closer,
Closer, Lord, to Thee;
Ever purer, purer, purer
Then my soul shall be.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
Because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4

According to the Power

If our scanty measure were used,
How poor were the gifts of the Lord;
If our cups of thought and our pitchers of prayer
Were all that His love could afford.

But - above all our stammering tongues
Can voice of our deepest desire,
Abundant above all the pitiful good
To which our small minds can aspire;

Exceeding abundant above
The reach of our groveling thought;
So great is the fulness of knowledge and grace
His power to usward hath wrought.

I am Yours.
Psalm 119:94

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely;

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Wholly Thine

Thine, most gracious Lord,
O make me wholly Thine
Thine in thought, in word and deed,
For Thou, O Christ, art mine.

Wholly Thine, my Lord,
To go when Thou dost call;
Thine to yield my very self
In all things, great and small.

Wholly Thine, O Lord,
In every passing hour;
Thine in silence, Thine to speak,
As Thou dost grant the power.

Wholly Thine, O Lord,
To fashion as Thou wilt,
Strengthen, bless and keep the soul
Which Thou hast saved from guilt.

Thine, Lord, wholly Thine,
For ever one with Thee
Rooted, grounded in Thy love,
Abiding, sure and free.

Wholly Thine, wholly Thine;
Thou hast bought me, I am Thine;
Blessed Savior, Thou art mine;
Make me wholly Thine.

They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.

Psalm 145:7
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses. Isaiah 63:7

Sunday Morning Praise

Sweet is the Memory of Thy Grace

Sweet is the memory of Thy grace,
My God, my heav’nly king;
Let age to age Thy righteousness
In sounds of glory sing.

God reigns on high, but not confines
His goodness to the skies;
Through the whole earth His bounty shines,
And every want supplies.

With longing eyes Thy creatures wait
On Thee for daily food;
Thy liberal hand provides their meat,
And fills their mouths with good.

How kind are Thy compassions, Lord!
How slow Thine anger moves!
But soon He sends His pardoning word
To cheer the souls He loves.

Creatures with all their endless race
Thy power and praise proclaim;
But saints that taste Thy richer grace
Delight to bless Thy name.

Praise the Lord!

The glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6

:poly:

The Savior’s Face

How sweet, O Lord, Thy word of grace
Which bids a sinner seek Thy face,
And never seek in vain;
That face, once set so steadfastly
To meet Thy cross of agony,
Can never me disdain.

Thy visage, marred and crowned with thorn,
Thou didst not hide from grief and scorn,
Nor from the dew of night;
Yet, in that face a love appears
Which scatters all my gloomy fears,
And fills my soul with light.

The heavens declare Thy power and love;
In all Thy works, below, above,
Thy majesty I trace,
But mercy shines not in the skies,
And hope within my spirit dies,
Until I see Thy face.

The brightness of Thy glory, Lord,
Fills Heaven and earth and written Word
With beams of heavenly grace;
But all the hosts of Heaven shine
With no such radiance divine
As Thy most blessed face.

Psalm 121:5

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3

In His Keeping

When the early morning breaking,
Slumber from my eyelids shaking,
Comes the blessed tho’t with waking,
I am in His keeping.
Day advances, labor bringing,
Care, her mantle ’round me flinging,
Yet midst all my soul keeps singing,
I am in His care.

Sometimes dark clouds hang o’er me,
Not one step I see before me,
Still, my Savior, I adore Thee,
I am in His keeping.
I can trust His hand to guide me,
’Neath His wings He’ll safely hide me,
And no harm can e’er betide me,
I am in His care.

When gentle eventide is nearing,
Light from heaven disappearing,
Still the blessed tho’t so cheering,
I am in His keeping.
Now night’s curtains gather ’round me,
Yet its dangers have not found me,
For His angel guards surround me,
I am in His care.

I am in my Father’s keeping,
I am in His tender care;
Whether waking, whether sleeping,
I am in His care.

There is no music in a rest, but there is the making of music in it.

:poly:

Music and Rest

Called aside – From the glad working of thy busy life,
From the world’s ceaseless stir of care and strife,
Into the shade and stillness by thy Heavenly Guide
For a brief space thou hast been called aside.

Called aside – Perhaps into a desert garden dim;
And yet not alone, when thou hast been with Him,
And heard His voice in sweetest accents say:
‘Child, wilt thou not with Me this still hour stay?

Called aside – In hidden paths with Christ thy Lord to tread,
Deeper to drink at the sweet Fountainhead,
Closer in fellowship with Him to roam,
Nearer, perchance, to feel thy Heavenly Home.

Called aside – Oh, knowledge deeper grows with Him alone;
In secret of His deeper love is shown,
And learnt in many an hour of dark distress
Some rare, sweet lesson of His tenderness.

Called aside – We thank thee for the stillness and the shade;
We thank Thee for the hidden paths Thy love hath made,
And, so that we have wept and watched with Thee,
We thank Thee for our dark Gethsemane.

Called aside – Oh, restful thought–He doeth all things well;
Oh, blessed sense, with Christ alone to dwell;
So in the shadow of Thy cross to hide,
We thank Thee, Lord, to have been called aside.

Praise the Lord!

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:25

:poly:

Do Not Worry

Do not worry for your life,
What you’ll eat or drink or wear;
Is not life much more important
Than these things that cause you care?
See the birds — they sow and reap not,
Nor in barns do store away.
Yet your heav’nly Father feeds them;
Have you not more worth than they?

And why worry about clothing?
See the lilies’ glad array;
Solomon in all his splendor
Never dressed as fine as they.
This is how God clothes the grasses,
Though their life is but a day.
Will He not much more meet your needs?
Let your faith not fade away.

So I tell you, do not worry,
Asking what you’ll eat or drink.
Nor be anxious about clothing —
These are things that all men seek.
And your Father knows you need them;
Worry won’t command His power.
Which of you by constant fretting
Adds to life a single hour?

Seek first, then, your Father’s kingdom
And His righteousness on high.
All these things will then be given;
God will not neglect your cry.
So fret not about tomorrow;
God directs the future, too.
Though each day will bring its troubles,
Trust in Him — He’ll see you through.

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not of more value than they?

Matthew 6:26

:poly:

My Heav’nly Father Watches Over Me

I trust in God wherever I may be,
Upon the land, or on the rolling sea,
For come what may, from day to day,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

He makes the rose an object of His care,
He guides the eagle thro’ the pathless air,
And surely He remembers me;
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

I trust in God, for, in the lion’s den,
On battlefield, or in the prison pen,
Thro’ praise or blame, thro’ flood or flame,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

The valley may be dark, the shadows deep,
But O, the Shepherd guards His lonely sheep;
And thro’ the gloom He’ll lead me home,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

I trust in God, I know He cares for me;
On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
Tho’ billows roll, He keeps my soul;
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD.
And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
Psalm 5:3 ~ Psalm 88:13

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight,
He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

My times are in Your hand.
Mark 1:35 ~ Psalm 31:15

In the holy hush of the early dawn I hear a Voice
“I am with you all the day, Rejoice! Rejoice!”

:poly:

The Lord’s Times

In the early morning hours,
’Twixt the night and day,
While from earth the darkness passes
Silently away…

Then ’tis sweet to talk with Jesus
In thy chamber still
For the coming day and duties
Ask to know His will,

Then He’ll lead the way before you,
Mountains laying low;
Making desert places blossom,
Sweet’ning Marah’s flow,

Would you know this life of triumph,
Victory all the way?
Then put God in the beginning
Of each coming day.

Psalm 39:4

My Times Are in Thy Hand

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave
Entirely to Thy care.
My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.

My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, the crucified!
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.

My times are in Thy hand,
Jesus, my advocate:
Nor shall Thine hand be stretched in vain,
For me to supplicate.
My times are in Thy hand,
I’ll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand
I shall forever be.

Psalm 69:30

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

Psalm 92:1-2

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
Psalm 95:2

We will show forth Your praise to all generations.

Psalm 79:13

We Lift Our Hearts in Thanks Today

We lift our hearts in thanks today
For all the gifts of life;
And first, for peace that turns away
The enemies of strife;

And next, the beauty of the earth,
Its flowers and lovely things,
The spring’s great miracle of birth,
With sound of songs and wings;

Then, harvests of its teeming soil
In orchard, croft and field;
But more, the service and the toil
Of those who helped them yield;

And most, the gifts of hope and love,
Of wisdom, truth and right,
The gifts that shine like stars above
To chart the world by night.

As we receive, so let us give,
With ready, generous hand,
Rich fruitage from the lives we live
To bless our home and land.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge.
Psalm 91:4

:poly:

Now Rest Beneath Night’s Shadow

Now rest beneath night’s shadow the woodland, field, and meadow,
The world in slumber lies, but Thou, my heart, awake thee,
To prayer and song betake thee, let praise to thy creator rise.
The radiant sun hath vanished, His golden rays are banished
By night, the foe of day — but Christ, the sun of gladness,
Dispelling all my sadness, within my heart holds constant sway.

The rule of day is over and shining jewels cover
The heaven’s boundless blue, thus I shall shine in heaven,
Where crowns of gold are given to all who faithful prove and true.
To rest my body hasteth, aside its garments casteth,
Types of mortality, these I put off and ponder
How Christ will give me yonder a robe of glorious majesty.

Lord Jesus, who dost love me, oh, spread Thy wings above me
And shield me from alarm, though evil would assail me,
Thy mercy will not fail me: I rest in Thy protecting arm.
My loved ones, rest securely, for God this night will surely
From peril guard your heads — sweet slumbers may He send you,
And bid His hosts attend you and through the night watch o’er your beds.

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Psalm 107:9

Three things make us happy and content:
the seeing eye, the hearing ear, and the responsive heart.

:poly:

Satisfied

I have tasted heaven’s manna, and I want no other bread.
In green pastures I am dwelling, and my hung’ring soul is fed.
At the living fount of waters, I have quenched my thirst for aye.
I am living in God’s glory, and my sins are washed away.

All my life I had a longing for a drink from some clear spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning of the thirst I felt within.
Feeding on the husks around me, till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better, only still to hunger on.

Poor I was, and sought for riches, something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me only mocked my soul’s sad cry.
Well of water, ever springing, Bread of Life so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth, My Redeemer is to me.

Hallelujah! I have found Him whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings, through His blood the price was paid.
Hallelujah! Yes! I have found Him! Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus truly satisfies my longings, through His blood I now am saved.

Let not your heart be troubled.
John 14:1
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Abide in Me, and I in you.
John 15:4

:poly:

In Jesus

In the world, tribulation; but in Jesus peace;
The heart of the whirlwind where its roarings cease,
A little home waiting, still and light and warm,
A safe sanctuary from the night and storm.

In the world, tribulation; but in Jesus rest;
A sure place of refuge for the sore-opprest,
A guarded pavilion no device can take,
A strong-walled fortress no assault can shake.

In the world tribulation; but in Jesus joy;
A full cup of gladness that can never cloy,
A sweet fountain rising out of Marrah’s tide,
A spring of rejoicing that is never dried.

In the world, tribulation; but in Jesus peace;
A deep, quiet harbor where the high waves cease,
A long-desired haven on a friendly shore,
Where the wild winds of oceans sweep the soul no more.

In the world, tribulation, trials all around,
For on earth no resting and no joys are found;
Let us flee to Jesus where all sorrows cease;
Here alone is gladness, here alone is peace.

2 Corinthians 1:3

Let Your mercies come also to me, O LORD…according to Your word.
Psalm 119:41

:poly:

Father of Mercies, in Thy Word

Father of mercies, in Thy Word what endless glory shines!
Forever be Thy Name adored for these celestial lines.
Here may the wretched sons of want exhaustless riches find;
Riches above what earth can grant, and lasting as the mind.

Here the fair tree of knowledge grows and yields a free repast;
And richer fruits than nature shows invite the longing taste.
Amidst these gloomy wilds below, when dark and sad we stray,
Here beams of Heaven relieve our woe, and guide to endless day.

Here springs of consolation rise to cheer the fainting mind,
And thirsty souls receive supplies, and sweet refreshment find.
Here the Redeemer’s welcome voice spreads heavenly peace around
And life and everlasting joys attend the blissful sound.

Oh, may these hallowed pages be our joy by day and night,
And still new beauties may we see, and still increasing light.
Divine Instructor, gracious Lord, O grant our fervent prayer,
Teach us to love Thy sacred Word, and view our Savior there.
