Many religions have humanized God when they should have been seeking to make humans more godly. God is seen as an old guy sitting on a cloud reading a large book, and he looks like Zeus. Funerals are more or less ornate as we lay a body to rest in a worshipful manner. The word necrophilia comes to mind. The soul which vacated that cadaver has gone away, so we are paying homage to rotting flesh. At least one Christian denomination preaches that all of the dead bodies will rise up from the grave to be Raptured. At best, this would make another boring zombie movie. Perhaps we have misconstrued the meaning of "God created man in His own image"?
