    Evening Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    Because You have been my help,
    Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

    Psalm 63:7

    Again, as Evening Shadow’s Fall

    Again, as evening’s shadow falls,
    We gather in these hallowed walls;
    And vesper hymn and vesper prayer
    Rise mingling on the holy air.

    May struggling hearts that seek release
    Here find the rest of God’s own peace;
    And, strengthened here by hymn and prayer,
    Lay down the burden and the care.

    O God, our light! to Thee we bow;
    Within all shadows standest Thou;
    Give deeper calm than night can bring;
    Give sweeter songs than lips can sing.

    Life’s tumult we must meet again,
    We cannot at the shrine remain;
    But in the spirit’s secret cell
    May hymn and prayer forever dwell.

    Praise the Lord! Amen! and Amen!

    Praise the Lord!

    I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
    Psalm 18:1

    I Never Will Cease to Love Him

    For all the Lord has done for me,
    I never will cease to love Him;
    And for His grace so rich and free,
    I never will cease to love Him.

    He gives me strength for every day,
    I never will cease to love Him;
    He leads and guides me all the way,
    I never will cease to love Him.

    Though all the world His love neglect,
    I never will cease to love Him;
    I could not such a Friend reject,
    I never will cease to love Him.

    While on my journey here below,
    I never will cease to love Him;
    And when to that bright world I go,
    I never will cease to love Him.

    I never will cease to love Him,
    My Savior, my Savior;
    I never will cease to love Him,
    He’s done so much for me.

    Evening Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
    My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
    My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

    Psalm 18:2

    On the Rock

    Standing on the Rock of Ages,
    The Rock that shall endure,
    Unshaken by the tempest,
    Eternal, firm and sure;
    There is a safe retreat,
    A refuge strong and free,
    Amid the stormy billows
    Of life’s tempestuous sea.

    Standing on the Rock of Ages,
    We view the tranquil soul,
    Untroubled by the tempest,
    Or surging billows’ roll;
    Be dangers what they may,
    And break the waves of care,
    Amid the wild commotion,
    We stand in safety there.

    Standing on the Rock of Ages,
    No need have we to fear,
    God banishes our sorrow,
    God wipes away our tear;
    We’re watching, we believe,
    We trust His promise sure,
    That crowns of joy are waiting
    For all His saints secure.

    Standing, standing,
    Standing on the Rock of Ages,
    Standing, standing,
    No need have I to fear.

    Praise the Lord!

    Patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
    1 Thessalonians 1:3

    The Hope of the Coming of the Lord

    A lamp in the night, a song in time of sorrow;
    A great glad hope which faith can ever borrow
    To gild the passing day, with the glory of the morrow,
    Is the hope of the coming of the Lord.

    A star in the sky, a beacon bright to guide us;
    An anchor sure to hold when storms betide us;
    A refuge for the soul, where in quiet we may hide us,
    Is the hope of the coming of the Lord.

    A call of command, like trumpet clearly sounding,
    To make us bold when evil is surrounding;
    To stir the sluggish heart and to keep in good abounding,
    Is the hope of the coming of the Lord.

    A word from the One to all our hearts the dearest,
    A parting word to make Him aye the nearest;
    Of all His precious words, the sweetest, brightest, clearest,
    Is the hope of the coming of the Lord.

    Blessed hope, blessed hope,
    Blessed hope of the coming of the Lord;
    How the aching heart it cheers,
    How it glistens through our tears,
    Blessed hope of the coming of the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    We are setting out for the place of which the LORD said, I will give it to you.
    Numbers 10:29

    And they journeyed…in the wilderness…toward the sunrise.
    Numbers 21:11

    ’Twill Not be Long

    ’Twill not be long, our journey here;
    Each broken sigh and falling tear
    Will soon be gone, and all will be
    A cloudless sky, a waveless sea.

    ’Twill not be long; the yearning heart
    May feel its every hope depart,
    And grief be mingled with its song;
    We’ll meet again; ’twill not be long.

    Though sad we mark the closing eye,
    Of those we loved in days gone by,
    Yet sweet in death their latest song
    We’ll meet again; ’twill not be long.

    These checkered wilds, with thorns o’erspread,
    Through which our way so oft is led
    This march of time, with truth so strong,
    Will end in bliss; ’twill not be long.

    Roll on, dark stream,
    We dread not thy foam;
    The pilgrim is longing for home, sweet home.

    Evening Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    A land flowing with milk and honey.
    Deuteronomy 6:3

    In The Promised Land

    I wandered through the wilderness,
    But God reached out His hand,
    And drew me safe to Canaan’s shore;
    I’m in the promised land.

    The Lord upholds me by His grace,
    And will no ill allow;
    He leads me on from height to height,
    And sanctifies me now.

    My eyes are fixed on Him alone,
    I’m pressing for the goal;
    And as I climb the mountainside,
    His glory fills my soul.

    The Holy Spirit guides me in
    The path my master trod;
    With songs of rapture all today
    I praise the Lamb of God.

    I am in the promised land, hallelujah!
    I have reached the land of corn and wine;
    I have joined the happy band, hallelujah!
    And the blessed promised land is mine.

    Praise the Lord!

    But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah.
    Isaiah 62:4

    Beulah Land

    I’ve reached the land of corn and wine,
    And all its riches freely mine;
    Here shines undimmed one blissful day,
    For all my night has passed away.

    My Savior comes and walks with me,
    And sweet communion here have we;
    He gently leads me by His hand,
    For this is Heaven’s border land.

    A sweet perfume upon the breeze,
    Is borne from ever vernal trees,
    And flow’rs, that never fading grow
    Where streams of life forever flow.

    The zephyrs seem to float to me,
    Sweet sounds to Heaven’s melody,
    As angels with the white robed throng
    Join in the sweet redemption song.

    O Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land,
    As on thy highest mount I stand,
    I look away across the sea,
    Where mansions are prepared for me,
    And view the shining glory shore,
    My Heav’n, my home forever more!

    Evening Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    Give thanks to the LORD for His goodness.
    Psalm 107:8

    Break Forth, O Joyful Heart

    Break forth, break forth, O joyful heart,
    And make His goodness known,
    Who all thy life, though undeserved,
    Such love to thee has shown.

    ’Twas Jesus sought my wand’ring soul,
    And with a shepherd’s care
    He brought me kindly to His fold,
    And still protects me there.

    He is my advocate with God,
    My Savior and my friend,
    His mercies new with every morn
    Like balmy showers descend.

    My soul shall magnify the Lord,
    My voice His love proclaim,
    And every power within me join
    To bless and praise His name.

    Break forth, break forth, O joyful heart,
    Break forth, no longer silent be;
    Break forth, break forth in grateful praise
    To Him who came to ransom Thee.

    Praise the Lord!

    O God, my heart is steadfast;
    I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

    Psalm 108:1

    My Steadfast Heart, O God

    My steadfast heart, O God,
    Will sound Thy praise abroad
    With tuneful string;
    The dawn shall hear my song,
    Thy praise I will prolong,
    And where Thy people throng
    Thanksgiving bring.

    Thy truth and tender love
    Are high as Heav’n above;
    Thy help we crave.
    Be Thou exalted high
    Above the lofty sky;
    Lest Thy beloved die,
    O hear and save.

    God’s Word shall surely stand;
    His name through every land
    Shall be adored;
    Lord, who shall lead our host?
    Thine aid we covet most,
    In Thee is all our boast,
    Strong in the Lord.

    Evening Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
    Psalm 17:15

    Some Sweet Morn

    Some sweet morn the day will break,
    Nevermore to sink in night.
    Some sweet morn we shall awake,
    Mid the everlasting light.

    Some sweet day the end shall come
    To our parting and our pain,
    Some sweet day we’ll all go home,
    Nevermore to part again.

    Some sweet hour our mortal frame
    Shall His glorious image wear.
    Some sweet hour our worthless name
    All His majesty shall share.

    Some sweet moment our tongue shall tell
    All the story of His love.
    Some sweet moment our song shall swell
    Loud and sweet as songs above.

    Some sweet morn we’ll see His face,
    And we shall be satisfied.
    Some sweet day in His embrace
    We shall evermore abide.

    We are waiting for the turning of the morning
    We are watching for the breaking of the dawn;
    Morn of morns, oh, haste thy glad appearing!
    Day of days, speed on, speed on, speed on!

    Praise the Lord!

    Who is like the LORD our God, who dwells on high.
    Psalm 113:5

    O Thou Who Dwell’st on High

    O Thou who dwell’st on high,
    ’Mid burning seraphs bright,
    Pavilioned in the azure sky,
    Robed with celestial light:
    Permit us to draw near,
    And worship and adore;
    Redeemed from sin and guilt and fear,
    Thy blessing we implore.

    Thou high and holy Lord,
    Before whom seraphs fall
    With faces veiled and spirits awed,
    And Thee thrice holy call:
    We fall before Thy feet,
    Unworthy to draw near,
    E’en though before Thy mercy seat
    Thou call’st us to appear.

    Hear Thou the prayer we bring;
    Regard Thy children’s need;
    Accept the hymns of praise we sing,
    And to our vows give heed.
    We seek Thee in Thy Son,
    Who died our souls to save
    The crucified but risen One,
    Triumphant o’er the grave.

    Through Him, our great high priest
    Before the heav’nly throne,
    We seek redemption’s power and peace
    Peace to the world unknown;
    Seeking, we find Thee near
    To bless with every grace
    And make us meet, when Thou appear,
    To see Thee face to face.

    Evening Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord!

    For Your mercy is great above the heavens.
    Psalm 108:4

    Thou Hidden Love of God

    Thou hidden Love of God, whose height, whose depth unfathomed no one knows,
    I see from far Thy beauteous light, and only sigh for Thy repose;
    My heart is pained, nor can it be at rest, till it finds rest in Thee.
    Thy secret voice invites me still the sweetness of Thy yoke to prove;
    And fain I would; but though my will seems fixed, yet wide my passions rove;
    Yet hindrances strew all the way, I aim at Thee, yet from Thee stray.

    ’Tis mercy all that Thou has brought my mind to seek its peace in Thee;
    Yet while I seek, but find Thee not,no peace my wandering soul shall see.
    O when shall all my wanderings end, and all my steps to Theeward tend?
    Is there a thing beneath the sun that strives with Thee my heart to share?
    Ah, tear it thence and reign alone, the Lord of every motion there;
    Then shall my heart from earth be free, when it hath found repose in Thee.

    O hide this self from me, that I no more, but Christ in me, may live!
    My vile affections crucify, nor let one darling lust survive
    In all things nothing may I see, nothing desire or seek, but Thee!
    O Love, Thy sovereign aid impart to save me from low thoughted care;
    Chase this self will from all my heart, from all its hidden mazes there;
    Make me Thy duteous child that I ceaseless may “Abba, Father” cry.

    Ah no! ne’er will I backward turn: Thine wholly, Thine alone I am!
    Thrice happy he who views with scorn earth’s toys, for Thee his constant flame;
    O help that I may never move from the blest footsteps of Thy love!
    Each moment draw from earth away my heart that lowly waits Thy call;
    Speak to my inmost soul and say, “I am thy love, thy God, thy all!”
    To feel Thy power, to hear Thy voice, to taste Thy love, be all my choice.

    Praise the Lord! Amen! and Amen!

    Praise the Lord!

    His children will have a place of refuge.
    Proverbs 14:26

    Sunday Morning Praise

    Beneath the Cross of Jesus

    Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand,
    The shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land;
    A home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way,
    From the burning of the noontide heat, and the burden of the day.

    O safe and happy shelter, O refuge tried and sweet,
    O trysting place where Heaven’s love and Heaven’s justice meet!
    As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was giv’n,
    So seems my Savior’s cross to me, a ladder up to Heav’n.

    There lies beneath its shadow but on the further side
    The darkness of an awful grave that gapes both deep and wide;
    And there between us stands the cross two arms outstretched to save
    A watchman set to guard the way from that eternal grave.

    Upon that cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
    The very dying form of One who suffered there for me;
    And from my stricken heart with tears two wonders I confess;
    The wonders of redeeming love and my unworthiness.

    I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
    I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
    Content to let the world go by, to know no gain or loss,
    My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross.

    Praise the Lord! Amen! and Amen!

    Praise the Lord!

    He leads me beside the still waters.
    Psalm 23:2

    Beside the Still Waters

    Beside the still waters, oh Father, my God,
    There lead me, there feed me, there show me Thy Word;
    There give me Thy counsel, there grant me Thy peace,
    There make all my sorrows and wanderings cease.

    Beside the still waters, enlighten my eye,
    That I may walk worthily when Thou art nigh;
    Cleanse me from presumption, my heart render pure,
    Keep me from transgression and make my faith sure.

    Beside the still waters, oh bountiful store,
    I drink from their plenty and thirst nevermore;
    No more I am weary when there I may rest,
    And feel with Thy mercy and love I am blessed.

    Beside the still waters, Thy goodness is there,
    Protects me from danger, preserves me from care;
    For pain has no terror and death has no sting,
    While Thou art so near me, my Lord and my king.

    Praise the Lord!

    But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.
    Daniel 1:8

    Dare to be a Daniel

    Standing by a purpose true,
    Heeding God’s command,
    Honor them, the faithful few!
    All hail to Daniel’s band!

    Many mighty men are lost
    Daring not to stand,
    Who for God had been a host
    By joining Daniel’s band.

    Many giants, great and tall,
    Stalking through the land,
    Headlong to the earth would fall,
    If met by Daniel’s band.

    Hold the Gospel banner high!
    On to vict’ry grand!
    Satan and his hosts defy,
    And shout for Daniel’s band.

    Dare to be a Daniel,
    Dare to stand alone!
    Dare to have a purpose firm!
    Dare to make it known.

    Praise the Lord! Amen! and Amen!
