Because you [Israel] have said,
“We have made a COVENANT with death,
And with Sheol we have made a pact.
The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by,
For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.” - Isaiah 28:15

Thus says the Lord YHWH:
“Your covenant with death will be canceled,
And your pact with Sheol will not stand;
When the overwhelming scourge passes through,
Then you become its trampling place.
As often as it passes through, it will seize you;
For morning after morning it will pass through, anytime during the day or night,

This is also an integral theological tie to the following...

2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.​

Could this be referring to the overwhelming scourge from Isaiah 28?
"For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble" - Jeremiah 30:5-7a

Is this something like Satan's version of the "angel of death" which killed all the firstborn in Egypt?
