Pornographers protest pornography

Not for the reason they say, though ("for the children"). The top of the article gives it away:

Documentary maker and former porn star Ovidie says the pirating of videos on to free-to-view websites means fewer films are made and fees have been slashed

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/porn-tube-sites-threaten-children-actors-critics-055907990.html

Apparently, online self-created, self-uploaded porn is putting a dent into the bottom line of traditional porn studios, and they don't like it. But since they can't come out and admit "competition is costing us money" they say much of it is pirated (maybe, I dunno), that it's forcing old style pornographers to get nasty :AMR: and that kids are able to access OTHER PEOPLE'S porn instead of their own. It's complete hypocritical BS. A few commenters nailed it:

So, the porn industry and social critics "worry about the effect porn culture is having on the way teenage boys treat girls"? Should have listened to those of us during the Nixon Administration when we flatly told you what pornography was doing to young men. Instead, with the visual of greenbacks in your eyes, you mocked the science and ridiculed the messenger [but] now you want to complain about the falling wages of porn actors? Dumb. Very dumb, as Rome crumbles because of weakened, distracted men. Again: dumb.

"actors forced to shoot more hardcore films"......"far fewer films are now being made" So which is it? And BTW, all this alarmist talk sounds a lot like what RIGHT WINGERS were saying 40 years ago. If you want me to listen to you, you must first apologize to THEM.

very generous of the commentator to use "dumb"

i'd have used "evil" or "retarded" or "condemned to burn in hell for eternity" :)

The porno-plaintiffs are the lowest form of hypocrites. They're losing their whoring revenue and that's their only real concern in all this.

I've never understood how a man "gets" drunk any female with a functional brain and willpower.

Apparently :chuckle:

If the history of coercion has a lesson to offer, it is that so called "functional brain and willpower" have nothing to do with such things.

But it is a lesson anyone who holds to the extreme that is to hold to one extreme or another (as in "Right" or "Left") is never able to see.

Porn will never go away. The entire history of mankind is wrought with brothels, prostitution, and pornography. You'll have just as much luck trying to reform the sexual order of monkeys.

in my lifetime, the changes in degree and availability have been staggering - if you had told anybody in the sixties, when playboy was about as racy as was available and showed that which wouldn't even get a movie an r rating today - if you had told my father then, that his grandchildren would have available to them porn of a degree that would make a sailor blush, and available 24/7 at the swipe of a thumb, he'd have looked at you like you had three heads

Stay on point or don't post. Coercion is a very different matter from "getting" a woman drunk. If a woman isn't forced or pressured into drinking, the man didn't "get" her drunk, she GOT drunk herself.

Apparantly you are unaware of how the Chinese were able to achieve the result of turning so many normally strongly patriotic North American POWs into Communist sympathizers with just a few words, during the North Korean Conflict.

A person is held responsible for everything they do under the influence. We ought to have compassion or a bit of lenience in some cases, because alcohol screws with people's judgement, but we shouldn't remove responsibility because then it makes something else to blame.

If a woman thinks she will consent to sexual acts while inebriated, then she shouldn't go get drunk and mingle with men :idunno:

No, we don't, the problem is our society is intoxicated with compassion, and nearly void of thinking!

False. In modern leftist-run, feminist-neutered society, drunken women get a pass that no drunken man gets. The woman is at no point considered responsible for herself; the man is responsible for both.

The point is not that either should get such a pass. The point is goose = gander.

'Thinking' more often than not invokes 'compassion'. It's a lack of thinking that causes rash judgement.

Our society is not 'intoxicated with compassion', it's intoxicated with biases that limit thinking.
