Archbishops,Bishops,Pastors and others celebrated Easter by writing articles in newspapers and preaching from the pulpit. What was their basic message? The values of love, peace and care for the poor. The world will be a better place if we follow Jesus by preaching these Christian values. The apostles followed Jesus example and teaching by preaching to the world,'Repent sinners for judgement is coming.'They followed this with'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved'. The difference between the two is the distance between hell and heaven. Once saved the apostles taught the saved to love one another, to be peaceful and to care for the poor saints.Today preachers put values before conversion. Preachers are telling 'dead' men to live according to Christian values. They cannot live according to Christian values unless they are first born again. Preaching Christian values to the world delights the Devil, but preaching 'You must be born again' he hates and strongly opposes.

The difference is that the 1st century message had the power of the Holy Spirit and today's message is destitute of it. I could yell - what up dude! and if the Holy Spirit was in the message people would be converted.

Today's message lacks the cutting edge of the New Testament preaching. It lacks the unpopular truths found in the Word of God. It panders to be liked by the world. The Spirit witnesses to Christ and the truth. When the church preaches Christ and the truth the Spirit's power will be evident. The world will hate such truth, but the church would prosper and suffer for Christ!

The result of which is more humanism, where man puts himself in the place of God. :sigh:
