And all this like the bronze serpent...

YES! Moses lifted up the bronze 'IMAGE', of a serpent upon a pole in the wilderness, in order that all those who were dying, because of the venom of the serpent, which was coursing through their veins and destroying them, only had to turn their eyes to the 'IMAGE' of the serpent who had been lifted up.

Why do you think, that Jesus, the earthly 'IMAGE' Of the Son of Man, who filled the man Jesus with his spirit, was lifted up in the same manner that Moses lifted up the 'IMAGE' of the serpent in the wilderness?

John 12:32
"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."

Because

Isaiah 11:10
"And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious."

But

2 kings 18:4

"He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.)"

Many Christians make even of Him, an idol.

A rest not glorious but counterfeited...

After the Spirit descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove, Jesus was led by the spirit into the wilderness. Luke 4: 1; Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil.

Verse 13; 13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time, For a while, For a season, Temporarily, for a more favourable time, etc, depending which translation you read..

I like to think Moses lifted up the serpent because He would be lifted up later...not that He was lifted up because Moses lifted up a serpent...

And as with the bronze serpent...worshipped long after its purpose was complete...that was idolatry...

So it is with the wooden cross...

In the same manner, all those who are dying because of the venom of the serpent that courses through their veins, (The accusing nature of the serpent who stands before God night and day bringing accusations against his brethren) they only have to look to his earthly image, who was lifted up in order to be saved.

They only have to look...and be saved...wait Him or the snake?...as the serpent was later destroyed for being an idol...

Wonder if any have made idols of Him?

Go into any Catholic church and you will see them kneeling before the statue of Jesus, who is the earthly IMAGE of HE who was lifted up to where HE was before this world began.

The purpose of the golden serpent was to symbolically represent Christ, who was made sin for us:

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." -- 2 Cor 5:21

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." -- Jesus, John 3:14-15

The Israelites began to mistake the forshadowing for the reality, so it was destroyed.

Wonder if any have made idols of Him?

"Let all the angels of God worship him." -- Hebrews 1:6

See also Hebrews 1:3: "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person..." The phrase "express image" comes from a Greek word which has the meaning of an "engraved image." It's one of the reasons why the Jews sought to kill Jesus--he claimed to be the "image of God" (John 14:8-9, Col 1:15, etc), which the Jews considered to be a violation of the law of Moses which forbade the worship of God in human likeness. Either Jesus is the visible worshipable image of God, or Christianity is idolatry.

some artistic images of life are also false--violating the command about no false testimony. Hollywood is full of falsified reality

And so?

A man bowed to Peter and he rejected it told him to stand up save it for Yah alone...John the revelator bowed to an angel who rejected it told him to save it for Yah alone

Yahushua Himself said who is good but Yah?

So how is it good that they are kneeling before statues of Jesus Mary et al...its idolatry...

Even pagans bow before images rocks and trees and pray through it to its prototype...

Besides, I doubt any of these images are any closer to the real look of Jesus than the golden calf was to Yah...

pretty sure it was a bronze serpent not gold...its ironic iconoclasts pay attention to details...destroying counterfeits does that...

Pretty sure what was done with it after its purpose was not done mistakenly...ascribing power to things which is not there is idolatry whether it be wood stone image temple or land...

Of course the Word was made flesh...visible tangible literal...but He never introduced a whole new economy of images...or He would have allowed His portrait or likeness...hair...fingernails...you know, something to provide visible worshipable comfort...

What Christianity did and does with Yahushua reveals itself

by its fruit...

Some?

Any artist worth his work confesses the real life is truth...life superior to what they capture...their work though "real" as a work is never-the-less but a poor imitation of life...

The prohibition remains...make NO image of ANYTHING...

So you agree that the Roman church of Emperor Constantine, are no more than a mob of idolaters?

Never forbade his portrait, likeness, etc, but if you think art is wrong, then according to scripture art is wrong for you (Romans 14:14).

by its fruit...

Indeed.

"Art is the ultimate perpetration of fraud." ...I was quoting Pablo Picasso...

I can't find any evidence that Picasso actually said that, but he did say, "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls."
