Looks like Hawking has been watching War of the Worlds, Independence Day and Battle: Los Angeles too many times. :rotfl: Actually I thought Battle: Los Angeles was an underrated film. :p

Stephen Hawking has a lot to say about aliens, and the one statement that stands out the most is the notion that it would be impossible for an advanced civilization to get here unless they were literally thousands of years ahead of us.

They would have to be a 'stage 3 civilization'.
Star Wars.

You see, it would be a dead minimum of 300 years for anything to even be able to travel to us, and that's presuming they can travel at the speed of light.

Or faster than light, while maintaining relative subluminal speeds locally, for example, by warping space or using a wormhole.

Hawking theorizes that a civilization would produce self replicating robots, who will in turn create millions of mirrors to encircle a star.
By doing so, they will draw the power from the star into a single mass which will create a wormhole.

However, they couldn't do this with their mother star- they would have to go to another, which would require a civilization advanced enough to first master interstellar travel.

I doubt we could even think up how exactly they might travel interstellar or intergalactic distances, any more than an ant could understand a passenger jet.

A mere 200 Klingon Birds of Prey will meet these invading Alien Armies and vaporize 90% of them in a flash of blinding light. The remaining 10% will be captured by Romulans in their Romulan Warbirds and subjected to medical experiments. Stephen Hawking will be captured alive by the Klingons and forced-mated with some of the more liberal specimens of the Alien 10% who are allowed to live.
