"Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues THE WONDERFUL WORKS OF GOD" Acts 2:11.

What were "The wonderful works of God" that were spoken of on the day of Pentecost by the Cretes and the Arabians? It was the Gospel. At one time I thought that Pentecost was about the Holy Spirit coming into the world. I was wrong, Pentecost is about the Gospel coming into the world in the power of the Holy Spirit,

What happened on the day of Pentecost there in Jerusalem turned that town upside down. For the very first time the Gospel was made known to all that were there. Up until then the disciples were not really sure what God had accomplished in his Son Jesus Christ, but on the day of Pentecost all was revealed and they were astonished.

Thousands heard the Gospel, which was "The wonderful works of God" believed and were saved, Acts 2:41 and Acts 4:4. They heard the Gospel, they believed the Gospel, they received the Holy Spirit and they were saved. This is how it happens.

"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" Romans 10:17.

Some of those that were there and heard the Gospel had participated in the crucifixon of Christ, Acts 2:23 and Acts 2:36. They were saved right along with everybody else. It must have been a sight to see. Thousands and thousands of Jews coming to Christ as repentant sinners to be saved by him.

This was the birth of the New Testament church. There had not been anything like this before. The weak disciples became powerful preachers of the Gospel. The Pharisees tried to stop them from preaching about Jesus but they answered...

"For we cannot but speak of the things which we have seen and heard" Acts 4:20.

Signs and miracles followed the preaching of the apostles. This is how God verified that what they were preaching was from God. They would heal a sick person and then when they had everybodys attention they would preach the Gospel to them.

Paul said that..."The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes" Romans 1:16. To everyone that believes the Gospel.

To believe the Gospel is to believe that...
Jesus has victoriously defeated sin, death and that devil and that because of that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, Acts 2:36. To believe the Gospel is to believe that God has exalted Jesus and has given him a name above every name that at the name of Jesus every tounge will confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father, Philippians 2:9, 10, 11.

In the Gospel Jesus justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. Paul said, "And you are complete in him" Colossians 2:10. Spiritually, all that have come to Christ as repentant sinners have been given the Holy Spirit and are "In Christ" Colossians 3:3. God sees ALL THINGS in his Son Jesus Christ who is the savior of the whole world, 1 John 2:2.

The Gospel is a simple message. Religion is complicated and confusing.

In the Gospel... "The Just live by faith" Romans 1:17.

In Religion the religious live by laws, rules, commandments and religion, which is very complicated. The Pharisees took the law and the ordinances and came up with the Torah, which contains over 600 things to do.

To be religious is like being in a prison, you must, you must, you must, or you will be kicked out.

To be kicked out of the Catholic church is the same as being assigned to hell.
