Once saved NOT necessarily always saved.

The first resurrection is only for those who are ready for the kingdom. The parable of the ten virgins reveal that not all who are called will be ready.

...to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect (complete). (Hebrews 12:23 NKJV)

Not everyone God calls is made complete in this lifetime.

The virgins are Christians who had Holy Spirit (oil) at first but did not have any left at Christ's return. Through neglect, quenching, cares of the world they have lost His Spirit. Does this sound like they get another chance?

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Who says that those who believe for a while and then fall away were ever saved ? Lk 8:13 did not say that ! Jesus stated that they had no root ! What does that mean?

...those who fell by the way side. They never had a chance to accept Christ....Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Everyone has the chance to receive the love of truth (2 Thess 2:10). No one will go to hell who does not deserve to go to hell (Ro 2:1-16).

“If there was no hell, we would be like the animals. No hell, no dignity.” ~ Flannery O'Connor

The seed is the Word and if we hear the word and don't allow it to take root it falls by the wayside and perishes. Hear - Believe - Trust Christ = Eternal security of salvation.

Hear the word and disregard it at your own peril.

OSAS...

Before debating the "always saved" part, can we address the "once saved" part? As in, first believing and being regenerate is not synonymous with "saved." That's confusing the beginning of the journey with the end.

As parables and allegories go, I think Pilgrim's Progress explains it well. You enter at the wicket gate... and then you have a long journey ahead of you before you reach that heavenly city.
Yes, many are playing church. Matt. 23:23, 24

So neither the author or you could tell me what is the gospel of your salvation because you have none?

And Christian on his pilgrimage faced many temptations to quit, and met other Christians who did quit e.g. Backslidden and TURN-A-WAY who dwelt in the town of Apostasy.
God will have all men be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. By what gospel?
