The military was not yet set up in Puerto Rico.

Apparently FEMA is too, but they haven't been authorized to provide aide. What's needed is someone with the power and the willingness to requisition things besides private jets for their personal travel.

You might wanna learn why the military is the prudent choice over FEMA.

It's why Trump is Commander and Chief and you're not.:jawdrop:

Yeah, right, because we didn't just listen to eight years of conservatives, prominently including Trump, complaining every time Obama went golfing. And we're in the midst of a hurricane response disaster, with people actually dieing for lack of diesel fuel, and multiple Trump administration officials embroiled in controversies about chartering government planes to go on vacations while they ignore Puerto Rico, and it's somehow wrong to point out the disparity.
Pretending that golf, vacations and charter flights have anything to do with Puerto Rico is ludicrous.

Puerto Rico is a four hour flight from the nation's capital. And that isn't even the closest federal resource. Trump officials want to charter some flights, charter that one.

They both should be involved. You know who suggested sending in the military before Trump even seems to have thought of it? Hillary Clinton.

It's why Trump is Commander and Chief and you're not.:jawdrop:

Trump is president because the Russians decided to attack us. But that's neither here nor there.

I think it reveals priorities. HHS secretary Price, you know, the man who is supposed to be looking after the health of the whole country including Puerto Rico, seems to have a particular affinity for them. Makes you wonder how such an important individual allowed people to die in hospitals waiting for fuel under his watch. Was there no charter flight available that day?

Trump is doing great for Puerto Rico, I guess they don't show that on cnn or msnbs.

I've seen Trump claiming to do great. I've also seen a number of mayor's explain the difficulties they have faced getting help. Most haven't been outright critical of Trump, because they need his help, but the process is mind-bogglingly stupid.

There's nothing in that link about Puerto Ricans being out of fuel.

What makes you think they were out of fuel.

You thinkin' there was some mad dash to the gas stations so they could drive off the island?

Very good - The White House announced Friday that President Trump had accepted the resignation of beleaguered Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

Politico reported earlier in September that Price had been chartering private planes for travel, breaking a precedent with previous Health and Human Services heads. Among the flights was a $25,000 trip from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia — a trip that takes 2.5 hours driving or 90 minutes via Amtrak — and an $18,000 visit to Nashville that included 90 minutes of work and a lengthy lunch with his son.

Price released a statement Thursday saying he would repay the Treasury for the flights, but his department later told media outlets that he would pay just the prorated cost of his own seats—around $52,000—not the whole expense of the charters, more than $400,000. (He was generally accompanied by aides and security personnel who flew with him.) Following his statement Politico further reported that Price had spent an additional $500,000 of taxpayer funds using military planes while traveling with his wife in Europe and Asia.

As a congressman, Price consistently attacked what he called wasteful spending from Democrats, including criticizing then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for “flying over our country in a private jet.” Twitter users have spent the past few days surfacing old tweets from Price’s time as a legislator in which he posed as a relentless guardian of the public purse.

“Reckless spending habits employed by Democrats in Washington are driving the debt,” wrote then Rep. Price in 2011. “We need #spendingcutsnow.”

“If you can’t budget, you can’t govern,” wrote Price in 2010.

Price has also been criticized for profiting off the trading of medical stock that his votes directly influenced. Asked if Price’s job was in jeopardy on Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “We’ll see what happens.” The Associated Press reported earlier Friday that Trump had begun calling Price a “distraction.”

Price was appointed by Trump after over a decade in Congress where he represented Georgia’s 6th District. He served as chair of the House Budget Committee from 2015 to 2017.

Trump may have appointed this crook and created a bigger swamp by doing so but at least he was honorable enough to throw the bum out.

Well, no, I posted that to show you how the HHS secretary treats travel.

Have you really not heard about the fuel shortages at hospitals? A couple of people have died because the generators supporting their lives ran out of fuel.

I heard last night there was talk of it, but this is actually the first I heard he was officially out. Good riddance.
