Jesus existed. He never died on the cross but he escaped death. God answered his prayers, the prayers he made the previous night, and saved him from the humiliating death. He was ill for 3 days in the tomb but alive like Jonah was in the belly of the whale. Mary Magdalene treated him to a recovery with the help of some others. Jesus then lived on earth for 40 more days before ascending to God. He had to go if not the Spirit of Truth would not come. He also had to leave because the situation demanded it. He promised to return - not as a suffering Messiah but as a King for Israel.

The Early Church misunderstood what happened and thought that he actually died. They panicked so much so they headed by St Paul had to make an explanation of his apparent death. They painted Jesus as a lamb for sacrifice. Unfortunately.

Surat al-Maryam, 15: So peace on him the day he was born, the day that he dies and the day that he will be raised up alive [again]! And verse 33 of the same sura: So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day I shall be raised up to life.

Who are the subjects of this Surat?

Female circumcision or female genital mutilation. They are two different things. And they are not compulsory in Islam.

You have failed to answer what i asked you. Try again.

(your attempts at separating female gential mutilation from female circumcision speaks volumes though)

Yes or no - I'm not a student of History. But I do know that Jews and Muslims have lived side by side for centuries barring some unfortunate incidents.

I would have been inclined towards Islam vs medieval Christiandom.
However, I am a 49 yr old Believer in the Messianic Claims of Yeshua.

As far as I can recall (I'm on the app) this was said by many Prophets. John the Baptizer and Jesus were two of them.

Jesus would return to earth and then he would live life, destroying both the cross and the anti-Christs and then would die a natural death. Everyone of us will be resurrected in the Day of Reckoning.

There is no difference between the Muslim and myself in the sense of what is required of God. We both agree that the Creator of all things requires flawless perfection continually. That is His standard. We my friend only differ in our means to attain His requirement.

Hi Repentance,
I've heard it say that in Islam the punishment for apostasy is the death penalty. Is this correct? If so, does this rule applies universally or only in countries under Islamic law?

Well that would be like a Messianic Jew?

The Islamic Jesus (Yeshua, Yehosha, Esau - whatever the name is) is different to the Jesus of the Gospels in that it agrees 100% with the Tanach (The Torah). He is not divine nor a Son of God (God is of one essence and one Jehovah). He is a Messenger of God and a Prophet and a Word and a Spirit from God

"Thereupon she pointed to him. They said, 'How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?' Jesus said, 'I am a servant of ALLAH. HE has given me the Book, and has made me a Prophet; 'And HE has made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and has enjoined upon me Prayer and almsgiving so long as I live; 'And HE has made me dutiful towards my mother, and has not made me arrogant and graceless; 'And peace was on me the day I was born, and peace will be on me the day I shall die, and the day I shall be raised up to life again.' That was Jesus, son of Mary. This is a statement of the truth concerning which they entertain doubt."—Qur'an, Surah 19:30-35

We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay! (2:87, Yusif Ali)

Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. (3:55, Yusif Ali)

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. (4:171, Yusif Ali)

Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth! (5:575, Yusif Ali)

We have made some of these messengers to excel the others among them are they to whom Allah spoke, and some of them He exalted by (many degrees of) rank; and We gave clear miracles to Jesus, Son of Mary,
strengthened him with the holy spirit. And if Allah had pleased, those after them would not have fought one with another after clear arguments had come to them, but they disagreed; so there were some of them who believed and others who denied; and if Allah had pleased they would not have fought one with another, but Allah brings about what He intends. (2:253, Shakir)

Thank you for your thoughtful response and interesting facts. You sound like a very interesting person.

One thing I always say good about Muslim nations it that they know God's moral laws and take them seriously. I'm sure we'd disagree on a lot but there's very little crime in those nations, virtually no AIDS of other STD's, no drug problem, none of the ultra sick pornography which has infected the entire rest of the world, extremely strong family values and ties and young men grow up respecting their elders and the girls don't grow up as sluts.

One other thing we probably have in common is the knowledge that God created the earth and all life. Do you know much about creation/evolution debate? The things that God made are mind blowing and the evidence of His Wisdom is beyond doubt. I'm a big fan of Bob Enyart who has a creation science show on Fridays. It's worth checking out: http://kgov.com/real-science-radio

What does that have to do with whether or not you are for or against it? IF you think there are benefits or moral reasons, feel free to name them.

Yes if we believe in God, the divine unity of God and the last day that is itself enough.

“Surely, those who believe, those who are the Jews and the Sabians and the Christians – whosoever believed in God and the Last Day, and worked righteousness, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” [al-Maa’idah 5:69]

There is a difference in opinion and the vast majority are of the view that the death penalty is only to be carried out for those who after apostating carry out acts of treason against the state. Apostating at the times of old was like jumping to the enemy camp. Like an American becoming a communist or Russian :)

Thats not an answer to what she asked you.

The death penalty for apostasy is found more directly in the Qur’an — Islamic authorities generally root it in two Qur’anic verses, 2:217 and 4:89, as Hugh has noted. Here is 2:217:

They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: “Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members.” Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.

What does it mean that the works of those who “turn back from their faith and die in unbelief” will “bear no fruit in this life” as well as in the next? Let’s go for an answer to the Tafsir al-Qurtubi, a classic and thoroughly mainstream exegesis of the Qur’an. About 2:217, Qurtubi says this:

Scholars disagree about whether or not apostates are asked to repent. One group say that they are asked to repent and, if they do not, they are killed. Some say they are given an hour and others a month. Others say that they are asked to repent three times, and that is the view of Malik. Al-Hasan said they are asked a hundred times. It is also said that they are killed without being asked to repent.

Did you notice one option that Qurtubi never mentions? That’s right: he never says anything like “some say the apostate should not be killed.” The only point of contention seems to be how long the Muslim must wait before he kills the apostate.

Meanwhile, 4:89 says this:

They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they). But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (from what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.
Is the death penalty for apostasy in the Qur’an? Yes it is, sweet little Rifqa

I'll give this some thought.
I'm not a Jew tho. Just believe in Messiah...
